I dropped mine.. no support. I've been waiting over a month for them to send a shipping label. Cell phone provider says it will be faster to get a new phone... But I do love the phone.

Did you get the insurance? I'm covered for accidental drops but haven't needed it yet.
I had an LG v60. It had a dual screen case and that was also very breakable. It shattered from a 2 ft drop. I ended up using the phone but rarely use the case even after I repaired the screen.
Just got this phone. How did you make out with your repair?
@@GCharlesE I got it back after 5 weeks. A week later a black dot appeared on the screen like a camera dot. I haven't sent it back yet because of the wait time . I'll be getting the Samsung fold 6 in August.
The Open has become my favorite phone of all time right next to the Nexus 5. BTW love the nails!

I loved my Open but sold it for the 12. I would like to see a better IP rating and OnePlus should step up to a white glove level service for screen warranty replacements on their most expensive device. Some people have waited 6 weeks for a repair and that is flat out unacceptable.
Wait? You sold a phone that you Love, for something that didn't happened to you and with low probability of happening.
The IP rating is very overated! How many people do you see dunking their water proof phones in the pool below 4 feet?
The warranty wait time is the only downer but even so, the warranty is still being honored and on a reasonable time for the task. Is only a first world problem and most people that buy a foldable phone, most probably have a backup phone too.
Excellent review.👌🏽 They have crazy deals for trade-ins rn. Really wanted to trade this my Fold 4, but worried about warranty and service if issues arise 😢. The Open's form factor is so on point.

So sad to see Facebook preinstalled. The phone market in the US sucks. I want a Fairphone.
I'm out, 2 one plus opens, screen went on the first 3 months in and now 4 months in the screen went on the second one. I really enjoyed the phone but I can't afford to keep doing this, especially with the lousy support. I'm going back to the Z fold. See yYA!

I had a oneplus open for about six weeks and then the screen got the common green line of death. One month later, I still have not got my phone back from their repair center in Texas. When I call, they tell me the parts are a week or two out and then they will fix it. They tell me this every week when I call. They won't just send me a new one like most other phone companies. Never buy a Oneplus open. Going back to Samsung

Thanks for the great video Shannon. I am tempted to trade in my Fold 5 for the bigger cover screen, better multitasking, and the rapid wired charging. Have you tested video out at all?
Curious as to what you ended up doing? I have a Fold 5 as well, debating trading it into OnePlus, as I get 1500 Canadian for the trade in (more than I paid for the device itself).
@@WhatGoinOnDotCom I ended up trading it in for the OnePlus Open. I have to say I've been pretty happy with it. I do miss Dex and the SPen. However it was worth giving those up for the rapid charging, better multitasking, and the better cover display. Only issue I've noticed is sometimes Android Auto goes wonky, only happened twice, haven't been able to recreate it. I have not been able to get the OnePlus Open working with my XReal Air Glasses. I can say I love this phone.

Yes!! A bunch started being released around CES (but they're pretty pricey at the moment)
Google Pixel Fold still has the best aspect ratio.
I hate the candy bar look on phones. The passport book aspect ratio is easier to old and better aesthetically.

13:00 No wireless charging is a Deal breaker for me! It's one reason I've haven't replaced my 4/5 year old phone.
That's a bad reasoning seeing how most androids have wireless charging it shouldnt be a big reason for you not to get a new phone

Between this and the OP12 being out, I had a hit a wall in making a decision as to which one I wanted to get. While close, I am leaning toward the Oneplus Open. I felt as if I went with the OP12, it would feel like an all-too-familiar experience since I have an OP7Pro, OP8, an OP-N20 and the OP10Pro. Form-wise, not much difference. The Open would be a better experience (I believe). Not to mention, the specs sound a tad better than the Galaxy Fold 4 & 5.

@@ShannonMorse oh wow....sounds like they slipped up in the process. Hopefully, they'll fix it soon. So, is this sleek OnePlus Open your daily driver? Just looking and learning more about it, it would easily be one for me. However, I'll have to be super careful using it since I work outside.
The problem I faced with a foldable phone was when I took pictures with the phone closed it was a different ratio than when I would take photos with the phone open. That was really annoying. Maybe there was a way to fix that I didn't know of. It was on the Galaxy Z Fold 2.
I have to say I am totally disheartened by OnePlus. I own the OnePlus open. I was watching a TH-cam video in the kitchen. I closed it and went into the living room and there were lines all over the screen. I called one plus they promptly gave me a tracking number to send it in. I sent the phone in and I tracked it. It was received on January 19th. It is now February 9th and they still haven't contacted me regarding the repair. I have reached out to the company multiple times and they just keep saying someone will get in touch with you. OnePlus is an amazing amazing phone until it isn't. If you have the phone and it's working you have a gem however don't rely on OnePlus to get it back to you in a timely manner if you need a repair. I had to go out and buy another one just to have a phone until mine is fixed

I went thru the same exact issue as you. I just got my phone back after 1 month and 1 week. I can honestly say that it is not worth buying a one plus phone. Regardless of how good the phone is. They're repair process (because they do not replace your device) is the WORSE. I'M selling my one plus open phone.

Also took me about a month to get back. They fixed it free of charge. Honored the factory warranty
Don’t expect these paid TH-camrs to tell you any of that downside. They’re given a free device to advertise to you and that’s it

The OnePlus website says, quote: "extreme durability for more than 100 folds everyday lasting over 10 years. Tuv Rheinland reliable folding certified to 1 million folds". 3650 days x 100 folds/day = 365k... So they're giving you plenty of wiggle room with that number.
I don't know if you have any interest on doing a computer refurbishment type video but a good spin might be one where you are trying to remove APT actor malware/firmware from a used computer. Like set up a C&C computer, intentionally infect the computer with every type of firmware and hardware malware that makes sense and see what remedies the infections. The thing that makes it more dynamic which might fit your style is it wouldn't consist solely of screen grabs. If it doesn't interest you, maybe you could interest another TH-camr in the concept.
TH-cam is pretty heavy handed when it comes to removing videos that show malware / hardware, even if using it as a demo to explain how to protect ones self. It's a possibility but would require a lot of production conceptualizing to work within TH-cam's terms.
Really expensive at 1900 euros.... You can find z fold 5 for 1100-1300 euros now

With how fast it charges it's not needed really, especially if you get yourself the 80w car charger it's REALLY good
I don't get why people keep moaning about wireless charging, the speeds are so slow! Never bothered doing it on my devices. Wired all the way!
A couple of years ago, I would've agreed with you. But OnePlus sells a wireless charger that can do 50W, which is faster than the current MagSafe and Qi standard technology.
Why the heck do they have an *EIGHTY WATT USB-A BRICK!?‽‽??‽!!* The industry has moved to USB-C, the *PHONE* has USB-C, why not include a proper USB-C PD brick‽?

What great deals? There's none it's 6 months later and they still want full price or 1500 I don't call that a deal and they only give 60 dollars for flagship phones...no deal there!
Obviously depends on when you watch this video (of future viewers are reading this post). The best deal I saw was getting it for $700 at OnePlus with up to $1000 trade in at time of recording. You'll likely see other deals pop up from time to time and id recommend using a site like camelcamelcamel to track the price, or following deals accounts on X, which frequently post when there's a sale.

Because I usually straighten my hair and for some reason, if I don't mention that it's not a perm, I get hundreds of comments paying attention to the difference in hair style rather than the tech. It's an annoying part of being a women in front of a camera.
