Hey Brother zilla owners. I bought mine new in 1987 (early 88 model), still have it. First off thanks for doing these video's, you're a natural at that. Some advice from me. You will soon realize how heavy the zilla steering is. It's the 10 degree castor angle (pretty much a chopper). You mentioned a 250R, they have a 5 degree angle, it's like power steering. Adjustable a-arms....dial it back to 0 degrees, super easy steering (I did it to mine and can ride all day now). Also, a lightened flywheel really makes her hit hard..common mod done to stock flywheel. I had my porting done at Duncan Racing ( National Kit). Go to the web page, awesome zilla carb tuning info, and they have info about everything too, Technical pages section...incredibly easy to follow. I would have definitely pulled the spark plug and read it when doing jetting setup. It’s the best way to know if your rich or lean and will give you peace of mind on your setup.
If you ride and build a lot of two strokes, you can feel if it's too lean or rich without even needing to plug chop it. Boggy or delay too rich. Hanging idle or not revving out just falling flat up top too lean on the needle/main jet.
@@coloradodirtbike5930 I agree to an extent. But on a fresh build that you have never ridden or had experience with the plug is the best way I my opinion.
Sabo ftw...once you guys got the jetting closer I could here how much crisper the throttle response was. And it wasn't leaving a thick trail of smoke like it was the first rip. Does the knock-off pwk have an air screw or fuel screw? Maybe a slight tweak butyour in the ball park for sure. Can't wait for the dunes...🤘
I told you those Chinese carbs are totally different to dial in! Once you get it there ok they work fantastic with methanol since you gut them and drill em out. For 30$ cant beat it! Genuine is definitely the way go but alot more. Sounded great!
Is that front fender bracket on? If not word of advice put it on or make one. I had one I left off and it destroyed the front fenders just pulling it in the trailer.
Good work guys on the build. 👍🏻. Think I would switch to an air striker and do some plug chops when jetting also. Sounds abit too rich on the needle. I’d say it would start to plug foul on tight trails etc. South Texas banshee has really good jetting videos to expand your knowledge on reading plugs etc.
The emulsion tube from the original often fit into the Chinese knockoffs. At least they do for the banshee ones. This way you can use the oem jets in the Chinese carb body.

Are those Maier fenders or OEM? They look new.
Maier
I would have definitely pulled the spark plug and read it when doing jetting setup. It’s the best way to know if your rich or lean and will give you peace of mind on your setup.
Prob needs more riding time to get some color on the plug. But yeah I use the plug for tuning on my four strokes. Two strokes by sound.
Man I can't wait to finish mine you guys built the best quads you'll need to have a coustom quadzilla shop😜👍🏽
I appreciate that bro!
That is one bad ass quad awesome build 🦾🦾🦾🔥🔥🔥
You were spot on Greg!
I agree it did sound rich on the needle to me
That was my first 4 wheeler 89 quad racer 500cc
The emulsion tube from the original often fit into the Chinese knockoffs. At least they do for the banshee ones. This way you can use the oem jets in the Chinese carb body.
Might want to try a plug check.. that will tell you you if if its rich orlean.
That quad is a tank! You might have to play with the idle screw/air fuel screw
Are you guys even checking the spark plug to see what color it is
You guys are legends
Need to check the plug
Will this carb work on a 1987 250r quadracer
My neighbors would so call cops
He must have very tolerant neighbors lol
