  • Start of our 2020 Summer Break - despite Covid-19. Finally we are allowed to roam the coasts again. A 40 hours non stop trip from Portsmouth to the Isles of Scilly.

    Hi, Nice to see you again, great video. I was impressed you enetered by Round Island, I did the same 39 years ago coming from Miliford haven, so no real choice, but you could have gone in by St Marys, which isn't as hazard free offshore, and hasn't got a nice big lighthouse at the entrance. I guess now with GPS it isn't as big a deal, but we only had dead reckoning, and supposedly the radio beacon on Round Island (actually out of commission, but the Coastguard gave us a running fix using the VHF signal). PS had a good Jack's trip this year from Marchwood sailing club (very friendly) to the Folly for a meal, where we met Jeremy and Max Vines. Jim Hamilton (Sandy Lady)

      I read all about Jack‘s trip this year. Unfortunately, this was the weekend we installed our solar arch and Polaris was not mobile…
      Cudos for your Isles of Scilly trip many moons ago! With GPS today this is almost a walk in the park, at least what concerns the navigation…
