    The older Casio databanks (not the version you can get now) were extraordinary. World time. Timer. Stopwatch. Telememo and a schedule. This means that you could set an alarm and type in a multi character message that would scroll across the dot matrix display section of the screen. There was also a two week ahead display at the top of the screen. Each day was split into two sections and of you had a note typed in for a particular day the display would be filled in depending on the am and pm. Even by today’s standards with what smart watches can do that was amazing!

    Trying to find the lug width on this one but can't seem to find a website that actually lists it. Would the Vario 18mm straps for the AE1200 fit this model? If so, that could look pretty slick.

    • @manoflego123
      @manoflego123 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a 20mm lug width, so you'd have a lot of wiggle room with 18mm. I'd recommend getting a new 20mm strap for that, or some spacers to keep the strap from sliding around. Conversely you'd need to cut off a millimeter from each side of this watch's strap to use it with an AE1200 (it's a good look though, trust me).

(I am 45 so recent could be ten years.) It certainly was not in the Databank line in 1980s because I had a lot of the first Databank watches. There was, however, a Databank watch that used the same case and layout as the scientific calculator watch with the row of buttons above the screen. I still own a Casio CA-60 which is one of three calculator watch models that were launched around 1980 that did not require a stylus to press the calculator buttons. I also had one in the 80s that lasted me all six years of Jr High School and High School, but I have no idea what happened to it after High School. I also had another calculator watch that I wore occasionally, which was either a Nelsonic or Innovative Time, but I'm leaning more toward the latter. This one was also a black resin housing and band, was roughly the same size but it had fewer, larger, white buttons, with four pushers, two on each side. This one similarly fell off the face of the Earth shortly after graduation. I still may get another CA-53, just to have one, but I'll probably get one of the other Data Banks first, but I'm not sure which one yet.

    I am so sorry to have to inform you of this, but you need to bone up on the Casio Calculator Watch lineup. There is a MAJOR difference between the simple, basic calculator watch you examined in this video, and what is truly a Data Bank/Calculator watch. The Data Bank allows entry of names and phone number of up to 25 of your closest enemies or friends. That cheap little thing you had in your can't do that, and, does not even have a night light! All it is good for is a gift for pre teen kids who like "cool stuff". Now, how's about trying to know more about what you're talking about, Festus? 😅
