    This was a perfectly easy how to video on how to install the fog lights and bezels. Thanks, I thought that I was missing a piece or something and hadn't started working on my ride yet.

    Thanks for the great video. Took me over an hour to install my and half a day to wire the lights. Got the wire kit from Canadian Tires for 20 bucks and 2 light sockets from the junkyard for a dollar. 2 LED light strips wrapped around the fog light for halo effect. Couldn't do all that without your video.

    Very nice video. I've watched many and this gentleman has done the best presentation so far. Speaks clearly, and uses the English language very well. Thanks.

    I own a loaded 2014 Equinox that I purchased new and I hardly ever drive it, and believe it or not it's only has 4,200.0 miles on it. I have never look to see if the factory harness has the plugs for the fog lights, but I sort of doubt it. There may be a plug and play wiring kit for the fog light installation that can be purchased? I did put a trailer hitch on this vehicle and they sold a wiring kit for the trailer lights that was a breeze to install with no soldering crimping or wire nuts, and it was fairly inexpensive. It was simply a harness that plugged right into the existing factory tail light harness and ran down to the hitch with the standard plug. Watching your video makes me want to install the fog lights on my Equinox. Thanks, now I'll have to spend more money. LOL

    Just the video I've been searching for. I do not like those bezels either. Such an eyesore😂 will be doing this soon & swaping out the original headlights for some that come with a LED strip

    Great to hear that the video was helpful!! That was my intentions. I haven't wired them up yet since i just did it for styling and haven't really thought about turning them on so that kinda tells me I wont use em much lol. But when I do I will post a how to wire them up. Sounds like most people wire them up just like aftermarket ones.

      Did you do a video installing the wires to the fog light because that would really help??!! Because i want to install my fog lights on my 2015 Chevrolet Equinox but I'm not sure how to install the wires which came with my kit!!

  • @How2Ken

    Glad it was helpful! Soon will be wiring them up, but I still have not had a need to use them or a urge to turn them on lol. Maybe in the future.

    Wasn't planning on putting fog lights but did some research after watching your video. And yeah for very little it can look nicer then that rough plastic look. I'm probably gonna use a toggle switch tho. I'm still seeing what harness and wiring I need

    What about the electrical for the fog lights? Was the wiring already there? Did you have to run wires to the lights? What about a switch to turn them on and off? I have a 2012 Equinox LS and am thinking of adding fog lights, so any help is appreciated.

    I too have been looking at what grill insert might look good. I look on ebay sometimes just to see what some look like. I like the billet black and polished ones, also like the wire ones(kinda Caddy style) with chrome band around it. Only one i think looks weird and too much chrome is the one that is basically chromed out factory black part of grill. It looks like the Nox is wearing teeth braces lol. Otherwise the rest look pretty good.Nice 2 see em in person to make a good decision if you can

    Also you can reach your hand under the bumper and feel were the fog bezel attaches, There is nothing blocking it. I barely squeezed under the front of the box without having to jack up the front. Always use Jack stands, safety first !!

    I would really like to see the video on how to wire this into the turn signal stick like stock, I have a 2010 nox and just got the bezel and lights like you did, but I found a site that sells the light assembly wiring kit for a toggle application but not for the turn signal stick, I did however find a junk yard that had the stick but no wiring... I hear that you have to get the computer to learn the new lights if it's done this way... Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated

      you can just get a connector with wire and splice them into your low beams. So whenever you turn on your low beams they'll come on. That's what I'm going to do if I ever do this.

    How did you install the fog lights did you remove the front bumber?

  • @karpetcm
    @karpetcm 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    did this to my 13 equinox. The fog lamp snapped in on the top but bottom and sides forget it. No matter how much strength I used did not matter felt like I was going to rip the bumper off. The bolt was difficult to put in and other then spending time to push in the fog light as best I could the bolt was a pita on the passenger side, drivers side not as much. I want to wire it to my headlights, so when the headlights are on so are the fogs.

  • @How2Ken
    @How2Ken  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Only thing they make aftermarket is a chrome taillight cover, which i don't think it looks that good. Maybe better if painted same as body color. Seen people just lightly smoke em that looks good. Just wish that had cool looking LED after market tails. I think they would have looked better if the bottom big round main taillight was clear and had leds for bulbs. Similar to a 2012 LTZ Malibu.

    Yea maybe soon, but I still have not given a thought or a need to want to use them, once again just did it for look lol. If you want some tips on wiring these fog lights you can check out my post on a equinox forum .net website in the how to section and others have posted how to wire these up.

    anyone know how to install the wire switch and switch in equinox 14 for this lights?

  • @How2Ken
    @How2Ken  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yea you can just install the bezel with no fog light, won't hurt anything. Still will look better than ugly stock plastic insert. Instead of fogs, for a while you can just place a clean clear packing tape over a small square of black piece of flat plastic and attach to the back of bezel. So you won't have a hole in it and it will look like a light inside. As long as it does't look dumb. Maybe i am just rambling on here but let your imagination go wild lol

      BigTechie24 any wiring harness needed or BMC reprogramming?

    • @BigTechie24
      @BigTechie24 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The wiring harness is included in the GM kit but you do need the BCM programmed and you need to have a VCM code to allow that to be done. The code is about $50.

    I did this on my 14 Nox and it is a BITCH!! I used aftermarket lights and bezels from AM Autoparts, not OEM lights as shown here. Popping the lights into place is a nightmare. I had to grind off the two tabs that fit into the fender slots and slathered the tabs and the lights with Vaseline and WD40. Drivers side takes an act of Congress and gorilla strength to get them to pop into place.
    Then the fun starts. the 7mm screw that holds the bezel in place is absolutely impossible to reach on the 14 model. I finally took a Dremel tool and ground away a finger size part of the fender at the base of the round cavity where you insert the screw. then I had to go to Harbor Freight and buy a 1/4" socket u joint, thumb wheel and a flexible 1/4" drive in order to insert the screw and tighten it. Without the drilled out section, I believe installing this screw is impossible. A large piece of frame blocks access.
    Do not overtighten the screw, the bezel is plastic and if you break the tab on the bezel, you are going to be involved in lots of super gluing or replacing the whole bezel.
    total time on drivers side - about 2 1/2 hours.
    Passenger Side - here you will experience the joy of working with your left hand to install the light, but access to the screw is much easier. to install the light, I finally had to grind off both tabs and then grind away part of the light support ring so I could insert two nylon
    cords to pull the light thru from the front. I ground the support piece to keep the nylon cords from riding on the clips on the fender. absolutely covered all the clips with Vaseline and WD40 and pulled like a Gorilla before I finally got the light to pop into place.
    installing the bezel is much easier as it is much more accessible. used the thumbwheel, a 3" extension and again taped the socket like shown in the video.
    Total time passenger side about 4 hours.
    I don't know if the OEM lights are a little smaller than what I used, but I can tell you what I had did not just pop into place with a little pressure from the back.
    Lot of work, but a huge improvement in the appearance. I had no intention of ever wiring the lights up, i'll bet that is a nightmare of its' own.
