    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to make sure you get LEDs that can fade in an out...some can't. The ones in this car can, so they look great. But it's a little more abrupt than the standard bulbs. So it fades a bit, then just shuts off. It's not quite as 'smooth' as standard bulbs, but it's not a big deal. But if you get bulbs that can't fade, it'll just be on, then off

    What could be stopping my interior lights from working when I open the door?

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a few things, from a switch to a bad BCM. But BCM failure is really very very rare.
      I know it is simple, but I would start by making sure the switch is turned on. It is missed by a lot of people. it is on the top mounted map light housing. There is a switch to stop the lights from turning off and on. If that is ok, then I would say to check the switch at the door itself. Does it work with no doors at all, or only the driver side door?

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have a link, but I got them off Amazon. They are not expensive at all. I would say look for some cost effective ones, while also checking reviews from other users to find a suitable brand. They have expensive ones that are crap, and cheap ones that are great. Some reviews are bought, but it is possible to get a good feel off of that.

      If you are talking about the center console, that is also a 194 bulb and I actually have a video on it, here
      th-cam.com/video/S0I0cgQTjhE/w-d-xo.html
      For the vanity mirror, I actually have a video going out for that this Sunday or Monday. The part number for that bulb is 13502343, which is a GM part number. I could not find a LED cross reference for it (at the time I made the videos). I am sure there is an LED that would fit, but I have not found it yet. Hey man, I dig your videos. Thanks for taking the time to do these.
    I notice my 2015 Equinox comes with remote start, backup camera, etc. but no floor lighting. lol Have you ever added lights under the dash of an Equinox? Earlier models had a harness under the dash, but Chevy dropped it in my model. Any tips (other than LED strip)? What a dumb feature to not be standard. The first car in my 30 years of driving to not have lights under the dash.

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I completely agree. This is the first car that I have seen in recent memory to not have foot lights, and and it is completely dumb to remove it. Unfortunately, I have no direct recommendations, as I have not looked into it. My first guess would be to get some 194 bulb sockets ( like these here www.amazon.com/Winka-Sockets-Pre-Wired-Harness-Connector/dp/B07H8F83CS/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=194+bulb+socket&qid=1559855236&s=gateway&sr=8-4) and running the wiring into the interior light system. Finding a spot to mount the lights (somewhere in the plastic panel in the footwell, like any other car), and drill and mount it. The internal interior light electricals on the Equinox should also be able to support 2 additional LED 194 bulbs, but dont quote me on that...like I said, havent checked into it, so not 100% sure, but I am about 95% sure it will lol. I think that would work, overall.

      @@NexusAuto - I just noticed the Sylvania website does not even show the foot well or center console lights on their website (even for my year). Guess they measured a newer model and assumed they were the same. That's pretty interesting later models (even though ours is still a 'mid' model because it has the 3.6 and not early 3.0 engine), and did away with such a basic function. It's almost as bad as the doing away with the access panel on the fenderliners for the headlight bulbs...a 60 second job turns into 30 minutes! Really makes you wonder if a couple bucks of cutting costs really saved them any money at all.

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cup_and_cone I agree 100%....and there does seem to be some weird cost cutting measures done on these cars. Getting rid of the fender access panel is one of the worst ideas ever. Very frustrating. I have access to a 2015 Equinox and GMC Terrain, and neither have the foot well lights...why get rid of them? Is it really that much of a cost saving measure? It is the first car I have dealt with in a long time with no foot well lights and glove box lights....so weird. Unfortunately, with no baseline car for the footwell lights, I have nothing I can use to film. However, I did get a request from someone last week, coincidentally, who asked for a video on the center console compartment light, so I will be having that out later today. That should cover that bulb, at least.
