i got the pair of zlx12p and use the soundcraft efx8.. the sounds passed beyond my expectations. they produce high quality sounds.. next project will be the elx118p sub 😀
when u do a gig do you use one sub? like this? and of course a left and right for your speakers? im considering buying a sub but so far i havean't needed one.. but my gig's are generally 500 people max.. so my two ev's are generally good to go.. but perhaps if i do a larger gig like 800 or more people

So I'm looking for different brands of speakers, and I'm thinking about the Ev speakers and the sub-woofer combination. (Ev-zkx15p + Ev-zkx18sp) The price of the ztx series is too heavy. How many people do you think can be used at outdoor and indoor parties as zkx speakers? And I wonder if there is a difference between a 12-inch speaker + 15-inch sub-woofer and a 15-inch speaker + 18-inch sub-woofer. I'm going to set up my own speakers, and I wonder what kind of combination would be if I could only weigh the effectiveness of the speakers at the party without any inconvenience in size. I want to see the best efficiency in a reasonable price speaker.
Pius Kempter in my opinion , at indoor events it depends by de type of location.. but I think 70/100 persons at good sound level ... Outdoor it s a bit more difficult to reach high volumes for long distances.. so you can have a good disco volume for max 10-15 meters .. I say 50 people
yess i use the pair + the sub... honestly to notice the heavy bass expecialy in outdoor uses, you need at least 2 subs... but i think that one sub is very useful to let the head work only in mid-high frequencies and let the sub gowith the bass, balancing and powering all the system
that makes sense. Does cutting out the bass in the tops and letting the bass be handled by the sub also allow the tops to go louder? since most of that power going to the woofer can now go to higher frequencies?

I have a pair of ZLX 15Ps, im considering getting 1 ELX 118P to see if i like it. I love the compact size and weight. Im not impressed with the output wattage of it. It makes me feel like its not powerful enough to give off that chest thumping bass. Whats your thoughts on the bass output.
Depending on the room and what's in the room, 1 ELX 118P can or cannot give chest thumping bass. Also wattage doesn't say anything about performance. Box size and design makes a way bigger difference than wattage.

EV has been bending the truth about their speakers lately Lol. I've recently heard them for probably the 4th time and wasn't impressed. Maybe I haven't heard them to their full capability or maybe it wasn't set up correctly. How has your experience been?
DJ Rob-Low They're definitely expensive, but I think they're really good for the midlevel budget. You won't get as good sound quality from the lowest line of Yamahas or any of the cheap brands like alto, but you don't get the raw power that Line Array or the DXR line from Yamaha has. For the price, they're actually really loud and clean sounding. Compared to my home setup with B&W 685 S2 and SVS PB-2000, they have quite ok sound quality, but the HIFI speakers are still way better sound quality wise. They sound more controlled at loud volumes than most PA speakers I've heard.
+Bortol - Wrong ! Adding 1 speakers will increase the SPL only with + 3dB. To double SPL (+6db) you need to add 2 speakers, so 3 in total. To double the perceived loudness (volume) you need +10db = 10 times the power !!

I find the ELX118P sounds great with some music (deep house), but starts "farting" when rap music is played and I am turning down the "gain" for some songs.

Yes, you are right. PC usb to digital mixer (eg Bose T8S or QSC Touchmix) to sub 100hz or 150hz crossover to sat.

And the woofer/ampli is less stressed without the bass

Outdoors, you should aim for mid bass only. Because outdoors bass don't work much.
