Sailing to 80 Degrees North - Polar Bear Encounter: Ep 7

Finally, we make it to 80 North, after spending the last 6 weeks in Svalbard up in the high Arctic.
We learn a lesson in not trusting the charts and sail through thick fog and encounter some eerie icebergs in flat calm water.
The trip up here has surpassed our expectations in every way imaginable, and this culminates in the highlight of the whole journey when we spot a female polar bear and her cub.

Interesting that the Navionics charts cut off at 80 degrees N but you still had reliable paper charts. Here in Central America, both can be so inaccurate that i have to sail anywhere close to shore in daylight only, treating the charts as a rough suggestion, rather than a reliable guide.
