One of the joys of sailing is taking responsibility for your own actions. That's how life should be. Follow your own path and take whatever risks you feel inclined to, it's your life! More power to you I say!
You are so right, there is no freedom without the goose bumps of excitement to experience the so called "forbidden", and it feels exhilarating to experience that. Hope you get your share of living on the edge and enjoying life to the fullest!!! 🌊⛵🌬☀ All the best to you! Asha & Mark
Thank you for posting. I would've done the very same thing. I opened the freezer door. I stood there and enjoyed the cold air and imagined it was the breeze from a glacier. That's probably as close as I'm going to get. Gobsmacked experience. 🤯
Hi Asha & Mark. You're a little crazy to go touch the glacier, but I love it! I know this feeling of excitement that makes you feel fully alive and pushes the limits of caution, even reasonableness. The heart beats much faster and a feeling of joy mixed with fear seizes us, and should not lower the vigilance of any moment that this kind of exercise requires. You have to accept the risks, which you did without damage. So much the better ! I haven't always been so lucky and the exercise sometimes ended in a good scare and a few injuries to the boat... And you know what ? I keep doing it, and I imagine you will too 😂
Hi Vincent 🙃 Haha, we might be, but you know, it was all devised by a careful Brit, and executed in a cool, calculated way 😉 Sailing in "an ice cube soup" is something something else. I remembered all of a sudden all the info about what it can do to the hull and the prop and so on... but then we also remember how deadly "normal life" can be, so we agree with you on the subject of risk taking. It was an awesome experience and feels like more. I hope you are enjoying yourself and enjoying life afloat! All the best Asha & Mark
What an epic adventure, its getting better every episode. Could feel the chill from the glacier just watching and as for that mining town.. 😥 thank you for showing us places we would never dream of...
Hi Caitriona 🙃 Thank you so much for watching and your comment! We do appreciate your support x We do feel very lucky to be able to sail to those remote places and enjoy the exotic nature of them. All the best to you and Patrick 🤗
Amazing as always. you can definitely back up the title ,,,,ADVENTURE NOW ,,your clearly thrill seekers at heart ..living the dream ⛵️⛵️stay safe until the next time 😉
Hi Lee 🙃 We were just talking about you the day we've got your comment and reminiscing about the party night in Marina Kerrera, great times, hopefully more to come! I (Asha) donated my phone to Davie Jones's locker as you may know from the first episode of Season 3, with all contacts, including yours, so glad to hear from you here! Thank you so much for watching and your comment 🙃 All the best! Asha & Mark
I enjoyed this very much. Glaciers are fascinating; both predictable and at the same time utterly unpredictable. You clearly made a considered judgment based upon local observation and circumstances.
Hi Duncan. Thank you very much. We are really pleased that you enjoyed it. It really was an awesome experience, one of the best ever to be honest. Thank you for watching 👍😃
Inspiring as always. Your boat, your adventure. No one should comment on your actions. Life is full of calculated risks... it's what makes us feel alive! Well done guys.
What an adventure! Was a pleasure meeting you in Svalbard. I must admit when you said "We sailed here" I thought "Cruise Ship W**ker" then you said "No, WE sailed here!" Amazing achievement and so inspirational!
Hi Lee 🙃 (Asha here) I laughed out loud when I read your comment, then read it out loud to Mark and he completely cracked up 😂😂😂 That's so funny 😂 Absolute pleasure to meet you too! We are in Wales at the moment, on route to Essex to our winter berth. All the best to you! Asha & Mark
Awesome episode guys. Loved the glacier approach and your views on it. I'm not sure I'd put my boat there but absolutely respect your right and reasons for doing so. Loved the way you explained and justified it. Its no more or less dangerous than plenty of other activities that others do and don't get castigated for. Keep doing what you do, loving your northern adventures. Cheers
good on you guys, both boats took a risk and all aboard will have special memories, sir Edmond Hillary didnt just take in the view from base camp at mt Everest,he took a risk ; to much cotton wool around these days.cheers rob nz.
Heading up your way shortly!!!! Well no not Norway FGS :), The Orwell, seem to recall that's your home ground. "Helping" :) to bring a nice Dufour down from Ipswich round & down to Torquay starting this weekend with myskipper Bro, any thoughts on best hops/tips along the way !!! :)
Hi Chris :) thank you so much for getting in touch, your trip sounds really cool! We can certainly tell you something about our favourite spots along the way and they are: Chichester Harbour - it is all lovely in there but East Head anchorage in settled weather, which is where we filmed our Adventure Now intro, is hard to beat. We don't tend to wander to far into the main areas of the Solent but New Town Creek on the Isle of Wight is an absolute gem. Anchoring of Brownsea Island in Pool Harbor is lovely as is all of Pool Harbour. Then if you want awesome fish and chips, pick up a mooring buoy in Brixam, opposite Torquay and head to www.brixhamfishrestaurant.com Finally, if you had the time, Dartmouth, just a little bit further, is a gorgeous harbour to enter by boat. Fair winds and following seas! Asha & Mark
@@AdventureNow Hi Asha & Mark Great to hear from you, I did a reply at the time but I seem to have deleted it somehow, frustrating or what :( !!! We know the Solent and all points west pretty well; learned dinghy sailing as youngsters on the Hamble River in our tender years. It’s the South East “corner” we know less well although my skipper Bro has done the leg before some years past so your tips were most welcome, Brixham sounds good, unfortunately we were on a schedule to deliver the yacht to the new owner in Torquay and actually got there finally early last evening at around 5pm!! I can’t believe it’s only yesterday!!!!. I’m now behind my desk back in Southampton, after a drop off by the owner to Exeter St David’s and a very relaxing train ride home....great service and helpful staff, thanks to #Southwesternrailway. It’s taken 6 days since leaving Friday 19th having taken all day to get to Ipswich to pick up the boat (not the best travelling day tbh!!), lovely to finally arrive at Woolverstone Marina on the Orwell, your home ground. A lovely spot and facilities we would have loved to have stayed longer but were on a bit of a deadline so kicked off first thing out of the river past Felixestow and very gingerly over the shallow banks towards our first port of call Ramsgate, straight into a sou westerly, lovely for 5 days :( PS, I can take a decent photo but my video’ing skills are rubbish, I was thinking best solution to record our travels might be to attempt a Blog like yours Asha which you do so well :)
@@chris-yale Hi Chris :) Great to hear from you and your yacht delivery adventure. South-westerly does't sound the best for the direction you were going so I hope you felt ok! I would certainly be on my sea-sickness tablets! Yes, blog is a great way to keep the record so I'm looking forward to your writing! I am still piling up drafts and uploading photos, but with the constant "go go go" mode, work and other stuff I'm delaying the posts. I'm sure the time will come for all to be nicely rounded up and posted 😅 All the best to you x Asha & Mark
I have a book(Blue Water) by Bob & Nancy Griffith they sailed around the world three time and not just in the trade belt. Their son was killed in climbing accident age 21. People said that they should have not done all the sailing. Bob said that he had seen and done more in his short life then most in a life time to which I agree so good on you.

Fantastic - socio economic history from Adventure Now! You've had some experiences that most humans will never have. Book recommendation: Voyage of Madmen - Montissier is one of the most sane. Chris
Haha! Like that Chris 😃😃😃 We’ve had some cracking experiences (whoops, probably the wrong choice of words there)!!! Thank you, I will check that book out. Sometimes reading those sorts of books is a bit unnerving at sea but they are fantastic examples of true adventurers! Hope you are enjoying the hot and sunny south 👍
Haha. You’re right there!! No rifle required! 😂😂😂 We actually thought that we had to have a rifle but it turns out that it’s not law. The local police said it was “advised” but not law. Not sure about that one but again, Asha can make some noise 🤭
It hurts me as a swede to admit this since swedes and danes has tried to steal Norways thunder for such a long time: But vikings came orginally from Norway. This video proves it beyond any doubt. The fjords FORCED the vikings to make boats to be able to travel inside Norway crossing the hundreds of fjords in Norway. Sweden and Denmark are both without fjords - so there was no need to invent boats there. Your video just made me realize this fact.
Hello. I am sorry if the video has caused you pain and all I am going to say is that we are very much looking forward to visiting Sweden, maybe next year, whoever invented the boats! Thank very much for watching and getting in touch 👍😃
None of us are getting out of this alive. You can wrap yourself in cotton wool and never experience the spine-tingling feeling of fuk what if this goes south. or you can play it safe. Life is about life but it's also about death. Would I have done what you did, in a heartbeat. I would also have smashed a junk of that glacier and saved it for a G&T at sunset. 😁 That's not to say you should be reckless but a shrinking violet ...no!
