    Is hate how the sizing if women's clothing in general depends on the store, the brand, your body type, the phase of the moon, the day of the week, if it's a leap year, Ect.

      I agree. Sizes should be an objective reality. That's how men's clothing is.

    • @jumpbacktome
      @jumpbacktome 9 ปีที่แล้ว +79

      Lydia Dick Agreed. Even in the store I work, I can potentially wear a 4, 6, or 8, depending on the "fit" of the pants we're talking about. Why would a 4 and an 8 EVER fit the same person?!

    • @stephenmisener1659
      @stephenmisener1659 9 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      You do realize that every damn place that sells clothing as wack sizing no matter what your weight. Only the plus sized people have more problems cuz once you get too big it's hard to guess just how big you need it. It's easier to know the average than the people who are above average if that makes sense. Plus sized people vary a lot and they don't really feel like making another 30 specific sizes just for them. Does it suck? Yes. Is it unfair? Yes. But it's business. Companies don't care. They make enough without plus sized people buying their stuff. some companies are paid not to make plus sized in an effort to make people lose weight

      Totally agree! And lengths! Who said all women had to be over 6ft tall to wear clothes? Even petite clothes are made for different.

    People these days are so sensitive about everything. If you're overweight then you're overweight. If you're underweight then you're underweight. It's unhealthy but that doesn't mean you aren't beautiful. You just need to try your best to lose/gain weight or find alternatives to become more healthy. Some people like bigger girls, some people like thinner girls. We should all be able to openly express what we find attractive without being accused of body shaming.

    • @cissy9742

    when someone fat shames you ,you have no need to justify yourself like "I eat healthy" or "I work out".
    You are worthy of respect wether you are healthy or unhealthy.

    • @Bobbiii0.2

      They know they aren't the same size. They were going off measurements from the women and online sizing guides. The fact it didn't fit is the point - You cannot have plus size clothes that are just made to a measurement as everyones body is different! A 3x in any clothing will fit one person yet not another. Thereby plus size clothing manufacturers need to go back to the drawing board.

    It's weird to me that American clothing stores often don't sell plus size in person or have a limited selection when 2/3 of Americans are overweight. Seems it should be the other way around if they want to make the most money

      Janay Gunderman Yeah but 2/3 Americans aren't 3XL. If you wanted to cater to the largest demographic these women would still be underrepresented. Also these women's body types despite being the "same size" were radically different. Its more complicated than simply putting more fabric into an item. Throwing more money into it doesn't mean it would yield more returns.

    My problem is, you don't see alcoholics promoting being an alcoholic, because people just inherently know alcohol is bad for your body and mind in excess. In psychology, it is a bad idea to enable alcoholics. So why is it okay for morbidly obese people to pretend like there's nothing wrong with being morbidly obese? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but health is not an opinion. So by pretending with them, would I not be enabling them?

    Wow, almost nobody in this comment section understands nutrition standards and basic body differences. People can appear to be "overweight" and still be perfectly active and healthy. It's only when you become obese to the point where it impedes your movement and becomes a danger to your heart and blood pressure that it becomes an issue.
    The woman with glasses in this video could easily be deemed healthy by her doctor, it's just that her body has problems with fat distribution.
    Jesus, people, you're not fucking experts on the subject, stop acting all high and mighty like you have the right to judge others based on your perception of their "health" (which you probably don't even fully understand).

      Thank you for having some sense!!!! Lord these people don't understand that fat distribution is out of everyone's control. Yes Tess is obese; however the other two women probably just have bad fat distribution. Yes, they can work out to keep the fat off but if the fat will always target their stomach, breast, and thighs then they can't change their body's fat distribution pathways. I am considered obese...but that's because I'm 5'5 lol and I don't look like I'm pouring over with fat I look similar to the lady with the glasses..I have poorly distributed fat..don't come for me I am actually working out to stay healthy!! Yeah, you can be healthy and obese, but you won't stay that way for long. Someone who is as big as tess and stays that way for years will have health problems guaranteed. A big body puts a lot of stress on your heart and other organs, and excess fat causes inflammation.

      Yeah, I mean it's understandable. I use to be 185 (5'5) and it was hard to find clothing- so you just give up. I lost 60 pounds in two years. Gaining the weight is easy but getting rid of it means patience. During my weightloss my clothing was always too big or too little, or just bulged in the wrong places and it's super uncomfortable. I'm now healthy for my height and couldn't be any happier but I sympathize with overweight people because I was one at one part of my life. Just because they're fat doesn't mean they don't deserve fitting clothing. You know? It would have saved me tons while getting rid of the weight,

    • @isabellablu1240
      @isabellablu1240 9 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Ashley Williams Well, sometimes being fat isn't a choice. It can be because of genetics that someone is overweight. This results in being unable to control it at all, so exercise or not, nothing can be done for these kinds of people. Yoga pants are the only things that can fit larger people because barely any store sells a variety of XL+ sized clothing. The problem isn't unhealthy diet or lifestyle.

      Amanda brought up the example of Abercrombie and Fitch and how she fits in a s-m but is xxs elsewhere. It's because they cater towards smaller people (let's be real here), teens, etc. Going to Target or Walmart where a huge portion of the population shops, sizes will generally be larger.

    This isn't specifically a "Plus-Size" issue .. this is an issue for women in general.
    I say this because there are so many parts of the female anatomy that differs a lot from woman to woman;
    The ratio between height, shoulders, chest, waist, hips, and thighs, can differ quite a lot depending on the particular woman you measure, and this makes every piece of none-tailored clothing to fit differently on every single woman...

      Men tends to have a more even ratio between shoulders, chest, and hips.
      The biggest variation between individual men tends to be length and gut.
      The most common issue I've encountered personally is that shirts are usually too short...

    • @SimplyFruity
      @SimplyFruity 9 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      ***** Just going to say I don't think the point of this video was to say sizing is an issue only for plus size people. The point of this video is that these cloths were ordered online not in a store going by the size guild most of the cloths did not fit. The point being in the end that there are very few plus size stores. More often than not plus size people have to order online to get a better selection; how ever this can be frustrating and a waste of money not being able to try before you buy. (Most online stores don't refund shipping) People who are not plus size have quite a large selection of stores they can turn to and can try the cloths on before they buy. That was the point of this video.

On the one hand, people should live their lives as they want, thin or fat, gay or straight etc etc. On the other hand being fat is not healthy and I don't know if empowering fat people is the best thing to do either. ALSO, if we now expect clothing stores to carry an even greater range of clothing sizes we are putting an even larger strain on the environment and natural resources. I think we should be an open-minded society but we should also encourage people to be healthy (please don't leave stupid comments about how you can be fat and healthy - it's not healthy PERIOD) and more earth conscious.

      First off I prefer dating people who are overweight and find it attractive, but that doesn't relieve me of being honest and pragmatic. If you are fat - fine, but stop trying to make it seem like it's healthy or a chronic issue. It's unhealthy and usually stems from too much eating and too little exercise. The same just the facts and that type of behavior should not be mainstreamed. That's all I'm saying.

    • @equality1060
      @equality1060 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      tosheatower You can also say, Well fat people need clothes no matter what their health status. And really, if we are going to go down that route, take clothes away from smokers, alcoholics, drug abusers....anyone who you think is living an unhealthy lifestyle. Make them wear shitty stuff and tell them its their fault they can't get work or are treated poorly because they aren't dressed appropriately.

    • @tosheatower
      @tosheatower 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @wishIwerewitty - it makes perfect sense to someone who can separate attraction from logic. Yes, I find people that are overweight generally more attractive than skinny but that doesn't negate the fact that it is unhealthy. That's like a smoker saying just because he likes smoking all of a sudden it's healthy... as a society we need to learn separating feelings from facts, whereas I FEEL everyone should be treated with dignity the FACT is being extremely overweight is unhealthy. @eQuality - did you actually watch the video? I am not saying they shouldn't have clothing it was about regular clothing stores being forced to feature large sizes and the extra strain that has on resources and that it shows support for unhealthy living.

    • @carlajane6521
      @carlajane6521 9 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Yeah you can be fat and healthy but RARELY are you fat and healthy when you're 186kg and your muffin top is hanging above your knees. It's great when people can have a positive mindset but being healthy still concerns your physical state.
      Note that just because you're skinny, doesn't mean you're healthy either!

  • @tipsycat27
    @tipsycat27 9 ปีที่แล้ว +829

    The problem with fat is that it sits differently on every person. Clothing companies can't be expected to make 5+ different shaped dresses of the same 'size' to suit each major composition of fat- that's what measurements are for. I'm not saying large people can't be beautiful but when you have THAT much excessive body weight, it's not the responsibility of clothing departments to cater to a person who has 30% more fat on her lower belly in comparison to her underarms.

    • @AnimaSola3o4
      @AnimaSola3o4 9 ปีที่แล้ว +55

      Nope, that's what the point of having the ability to try it on before you buy it is for. To see how that item looks on your own fat distribution. Which is the whole point of the video. Measurements don't work that way. It will tell you very little about the actual body shape, other than size of boobs, butt, waist, etc. But there's a lot of room in between those measurements to have rolls lol. I'm fat so I can comfortably say all of this. We need stores to carry more of our sizes.

    • @tipsycat27
      @tipsycat27 9 ปีที่แล้ว +71

      AnimaSola3o4 Skinnier people run the same risks when buying online- it isn't solely a larger person's problem.

    • @AnimaSola3o4
      @AnimaSola3o4 9 ปีที่แล้ว +47

      Tipsylou I never said it wasn't lol. But a skinny person has the ability to go and try on the majority of what they want to purchase. Us larger folk are stuck with whatever tiny selection a store happens to have for us. The difference is solely in the fact that the vast majority of clothing available to try on in stores is for 'normal' size people. See what we're saying? Obviously thinner people have the same challenges when online shopping, but it's painfully obvious that when you're heavy there's no rhyme or reason to where your fat deposits are. When you're thinner you don't have the fat deposits to be as big of an issue (pun intended.)

    I lost 1.4 pounds in the last 2 days. Around 50 pounds total in the last 5 years. I really wanted to say that. Some things people can't tell you about being fat is...
    1.) It's hard to breath. You don't know it while you're fat but after losing weight and gaining it back, you'll know
    2.) It's hard to sleep at night
    3.) Things hurt NOT because you're lazy, but because your body is warning you
    4.) You WILL be hungrier because your body wants you to live, not starve to death. Eating less makes you hungry and if you want to lose weight, you have to either be hungry or drink lots of water and fresh foods
    5.) You could lose 30 pounds nobody would know you ever lost weight if you're still fat
    I'm being serious here. This is for all those people who hate fat people. Let's say you're a smoker(statistically about 1 in 5 of you are) and you used to smoke a pack a day. If you cut it down to only 1 cigarette a day, you'd be proud of yourself right? ***** My mother raised me to not say anything if I had nothing positive to say. My mother always taught me that if my first instinct was to judge someone, to immediately put myself in their position, to imagine myself as them. Or that if I was going to judge someone, to just not fucking say anything. People will never ever understand this, because they don't want to put themselves in anyone elses' shoes. They don't want to look at things from a different perspective. These people, these people who automatically judge? They just want to feel better about themselves. Whether it's "I look WAY better than that person!" or "Today I told someone to lose weight!1 I sure am a good person because I totally care about people!!!" They just want to feel better about themselves.

      ***** You should not be hungry when you're on a diet. If you are always hungry, that probably isn't real hunger and you should learn to know the difference between your body asking for food and your brain telling you to get food because you're bored or something. You have to be eating enough calories to feel satiated, eating such a caloric deficit that you are constantly hungry means that you are depriving your body of the nutrients it needs. Find a good caloric limit and stick to it, you'll eventually lose weight and not be miserable while doing it.

    the main problem with this video is that they are clearly NOT all the same size. dont try to tell us that they are all size 3X or the same pants size. we have eyes and we can tell that they are definitely not and the fact that the clothes fit them all completely differently proves that. if one model can wear the skirt and the other cant even put it over her legs then there is no way that they are the same size. end of story

So basically they are trying to tell us that all of them have a bust of 49-51 and hips of 52-54? Thats clearly insane (given both tess and kristin are the same height as well), and unless we are blind thats not true!

      Exactly, my wife is a uk size 8/10 (us 4/6) and she avoids buying things online, unless she really really likes them and it is through Amazon Prime so she can give them back for free. This is not only a thing for plus-size women, it is for most people. Like, sometimes I have seen her ordering bigger sizes so they will be long enough for her arms/body/legs, and having them fixed to fit her. Online shopping is a pain for everyone.

    God damn, they're all incredibly gorgeous okay. But what I hate is people glorifying obesity and anorexia. Of course it's brilliant that these women love themselves and I am *not* fat shaming, but being obese *is not healthy whatsoever* and neither is being too skinny. I have no problem with these women, my problem is the people who act like being morbidly obese is a good thing. It can create a whole hoard of health issues and so being underweight, but of course it doesn't mean they aren't beautiful. I understand some people may have health problems and genetics that have caused them to be the weight they are, but some people are far too ignorant and need to accept the truth.

    Some of these comments are annoying.....First of all, none of you care about them being healthy you just care about them being fat.
    Secondly it might not be their fault that they are big..there are diseases and cases that makes it harder to lose weight for certain people.
    Also .....They still need clothes to wear! You want them to be naked forever until they lose weight?! My sister has been trying to lose weight for 3 years....do you want her to be walking around with nothing on all that time?
    Put yourself in their shoes before you judge. What if you were fat then I bet you wouldn't like what people say about you.
    Its not like they can just starve themselves because that would make matters worst ... Think before you speak.....

    • @princyana3880

      ***** But it isn't always about THEM eating. Some babies are born huge because the mom over eats. And then the baby will be harmed for a long time just because of one little mistake. "Put the fork down". They have to eat too and they most of the time have bigger appetites . So no matter what its going to be hard. Almost everyone likes food. Even if your skinny or thin you can be unhealthy by eating badly. The only difference between fat people that eat a lot and skinny people that eat a lot is most skinny people are blessed with fast metabolism meaning they don't gain weight as quickly. They CAN lose weight but it will take a while

    • @princyana3880
      @princyana3880 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    • @princyana3880
      @princyana3880 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Ally B And not all fat people sit on the coach and eat like crazy. Some people ARE fat because they DONT eat. There are multiple ways people gain weight. It doesn't matter though because us arguing isn't going to change the situation AT ALL.

    • @princyana3880
      @princyana3880 9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      +DeadKarp Im not fat though....so get your facts straight. And that's not considerate to those people who are actually exercising and trying to lose weight but are still in the "fat" or "overweight" category. I USED to be huge in elementary school. I tried to kill myself multiple times because of it. I was only fat because everyone in my family is overweight just about. I actually occasionally starve myself today because I know I'll never fit the standards of being fit. But I don't care! because I'm healthy and that's all that matter...not what everyone else thinks. So maybe one day someone will kill themselves over something on the internet or trying to be like everyone else. Newsflash no one cares anymore. You are who you are .

    1) The fact that all three of these girls are generally 3Xs despite being very different sizes
    2) the fact that both that too-small skirt and those too-loose pants are the same size.
    This explains so much about how sizing it messed up for women's clothing. Nobody's asking for perfectly tailored clothing to every body shape, just for the opportunity to try on the clothing so they at least know if it'll fit right or not before purchase.

      Ashley Casey anorexia is a thing that can literally put your life to risk at any moment ? somebody being overweight doesnt mean their unhealthy. im 17 pounds overweight but i've still been told by my doctor that theres no need to worry because i am extremely healthy.
      anorexia is a serious problem that can lead to death and is usually from an eating disorder. people with anorexia hate themselves, so they stare themselves or throw up their food. anorexic people don't think they're good enough or that they're not skinny enough. maybe it would be better if we dropped this whole "fat people are disgusting" act and skinny and fat people would be able to love themselves more ?

I relate to Kristin's body type a lot- we're similar, i just have broader shoulders...but i'm also a bit smaller than her pant size. My point is i *know* I'm not the same size as Tess, i use to admire her as a bigger woman in the modeling industry because plus size is not really plus size when it comes to modeling.
      Point is, her sizing is just definitely off..

    • @BroadwayPhoenix
      @BroadwayPhoenix 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      May Athena Perhaps they are, but something you should consider is the fact that just because someone is skinny does not make them somehow healthy.
      A girl at crossfit is about a 2x, but today she finished half Murph (0.5 mile run, 50 pull-ups, 100 push ups, 150 squats, 0.5 mile run). She was going faster than someone who was super skinny. Truly, we cannot assume that weight = health. We don't know anyone's habits or what they are doing to take care of themselves. :-D
      Also, I did half Murph today, too. I am not overweight, but I definitely have trouble running due to being an injured gymnast. I've been called fat before (again, healthy weight), but no one realizes that 3 years ago I almost needed a cane because my knee was in such bad shape (I was 24 years old). Truly, we never know someone's stories.

      Widdekuu91 I think you make a valid point, but one issue with this argument is that people always seem to imply that obesity is being made into a trend or something you should strive to be ('advertising brainbullets'), but if we're being realistic, there is virtually no one telling you to be bigger. So yes, we should ultimately strive to be healthier people, but you're never going to help yourself out by pitying and hating that 'bullet in your brain'.

      That analogy is completely nonsensical. Again, you make the same judgment that everyone who is overweight is unhealthy instead of seeing it that they are trying to empower themselves to get to be healthier. People who make those kinds of judgments are exactly the reason why they end up in the trend of getting bigger - they feel like they are constantly judged to the point of no hope. Think before you make comments like that.
      I'm muting this post. I thought this would be an intellectual conversation, but it turned into the same judgments people constantly hear. It's really old.

    I get that losing weight isn't easy. But it IS doable and it takes a lot of work but a healthy life is worth it. I'm not fat shaming anyone, but we all cannot sit around and pretend that all bodies are beautiful while neglecting actual health issues in our country. Japan lives a healthy lifestyle and they only have a 3% obesity rate. America's culture of consumption and extreme portions are the reason why we have a 30% obesity rate.
    There is a line between what is accepting your body and knowing when you have serious issues and should try and make life adjustments to better your health.

A record 29 % of those in their 20s are underweight, according to a recent government survey. Those with a body mass index of less than 18.5 percent are considered underweight by Japanese standards. And my best friend is obese for her age but she has a heart problem and trying to lose weight could kill her.

    • @fka_sticks
      @fka_sticks 9 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Ok but most people who are obese are not unhealthy? I feel like, especially in America, people take the "ideal weight" for their age and height too seriously. It's called "ideal" for a reason and everyone is not perfect. The amount of fat on your body doesn't dictate your physical health.

    • @jspaingreene6350
      @jspaingreene6350 9 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      ***** I take exception to you equating people just losing weight with the larger health issues facing the US.
      If you want to discuss how the food industry does things to food to create unhealthy scenerios, that's different. Everything from GMOs or bad practices raising livestock to adding sugar to most processed foods to make them "taste better". That affects EVERYONE.
      You ARE fat shaming people. There are many women in the US who suffer from PCOS - polycystic ovarian syndrome - and they have a very difficult time losing weight even when living the doable, healthy lifestyle you blithely prescribe. PCOS is still a mystery...but look it up. It's heart breaking. That's due to something these women and girls can't control. It's probably related to how food is processed in this country.
      Point being: you don't know anyone's story by just looking at them.
      I just want to add that I'm not heavy, but I advocate for my big sisters out there. We're not talking about people who are wheezing when they take a few steps....we're talking about people who are bigger naturally. It happens.

      @stan_the_man618 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mushie Pasta I don't know what the "white" comment was about either haha.
      But it seems we both misread each others comment. Almost every person commenting on this video seem to be getting mad that people like me are saying they are unhealthy. I understand the "oh they're ugly cause they're fat" comments being unnecessary and just rude since all of them are *clearly* beautiful. But literally praising their weight and choices isn't good, because they could be in massive pain and have other issues.
      But I was trying to say that the "insensitive" part isn't true. It might seem blunt of me to say "that girl will die before 50 at her weight", but it's the harsh truth.
      Also my comment didn't sound anything like "Ur a fattie ur gonna die at 50 trololol" whatsoever. I'm not even making fun of the women here, I pity them. If they say they're beautiful no matter how they look, good on them. Amazing part actually, more women need to think like that, but recognizing their weight as an actual health issue should also be known.
      And I know they won't change their lifestyles from what I say haha. I highly doubt they'll see my one comment out of the thousands of people who comment on Buzzfeeds' videos.

    • @christ4lif333
      @christ4lif333 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      BigManEDog The insensitive part is still true. I wasn't saying every comment mentioning their health risks or size was insensitive. Some were rude, some were insensitive, some were just unnecessary, and some were all three. Pointing out that they're most likely going to die early because of their unhealthy weight is just so happens to just be categorized as one of the unnecessary comments, because although this is most likely true, it's still unnecessary. I'm sure they all know the risks of being their size, so commenting isn't going to be the thing that makes them turn their life around. This video is simply about how badly lots of clothes are made for women like them, not how good and healthy and okay it is to be fat. This video isn't glamorizing being overweight, it's just stating the facts.
      I get what you're saying about the health risks though, and I'm not denying that any of that is true. That is also just facts. I'm also glad you're not one of the ones making the rude insensitive comments though, just automatically associating being fat with being unattractive.

A healthy diet can be expensive for a large family on a budget, and there are multible diseases that can make you super overweight.Also practically healthy people apart from their eating disorder are struggeling mentally and physically. It sinply isnt as simple as 'go to the gym sometime' , sadly.

    • @Dbz8607
      @Dbz8607 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it actually is that simple, going to the gym and lifting weights has proven to lower the risk of heart disease by 50% as well as cancer to some degree. I'm not saying that it needs to turn into your life, but there are NO excuses for someone who is living in america (where food is ridiculously cheap btw, and you dont have as many options as people in europe) to be obese.

    • @justtheawesomeME
      @justtheawesomeME 9 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      im not sure where you live, but when you have a full time job and no money you cant really go to the gym daily. Ive lost alot of weight a couple of years ago and it just isnt that easy especially if your mental/physical state are in bad shape as well.

    • @Dbz8607

    Tess is gorgeous but she should lose weight... Not because she's not beautiful now but because being obese is unhealthy, it's dangerous for your health. I don't understand why people who now are glorifying Tess and her weight are the same people who criticise anorexic and skinny models. Anorexia and obesity are equally wrong and I don't understand why it's perfectly okay to say that a skinny person should gain weight but if you say that a fat or obese person should lose weight than you're being rude and offensive.

    The problem is that designers for large sizes were trained to design for a size 4 and not a 22. Usually what companies do is use the patters for the smaller sizes and just blow them up. It doesn't quite work that way. Design, cut & draping count for much. It's hit or miss for us big girls.

      Vegan Gains You do realize that some people have a MEDICAL CONDITION WHERE THEY LITERALLY CAN NOT LOSE WEIGHT, right? On the other hand, some people can't afford to get a gym membership or hire some fancy-ass nutritionist like other people can. Organic and healthy foods can be really pricy, some people just can't put up that extra dollar to get apples instead of chips. You really shouldn't be complaining about people being overweight until you decide to supply them the money, materials, and people to help them lose weight.
