I don’t think people have problems with the models just wearing what they want but the paparazzi and magazines calling them ‘fashion icons’ when they are wearing a white top and jeans.
It used to be that this term was used to describe what actual runway models were wearing in between shows during fashion week. Which, more often than not, were some pretty cool looks (other times they just wanted to be comfortable of course). Now it just seems to be applied to people like Hailey Bieber running errands in L.A.

I LOVE THIS!!!! Yes, so many of these outfits are so basic! And yes, if you are into basic life, you go girl. But calling it "groundbreaking" just because it is worn by a skinny celebrity is so silly. Y'all looked great, but again, the looks were just as blah in skinny as they were in plus size.
Honestly, whenever I see a picture of a model, I'm not in awe of their outfits, I'm in awe of their bodies. They can pull off wearing a bin bag. Their slim, fit bodies elevate the most basic look.

Thats their professional work and it takes a certain level of dedication to their career to look that way. Its a 24/7 job. I think anyone can wear whatever they want and whatever makes them happy. But I'm not sure why someone who has a very different body type would be surprised if the same outfits had a different result on their body.
A faux leather material won't sit the same as a tailored blazer in a men's material. If you found a version of that in your size, i think you'd like the silhouette better.

If a style is made to show abs and looks good by doing so, if you don't have abs that outfit won't be fashionable on you. It's about what works on you, you can't just use what more fit people do and just say it should be working the same.

I hear you and would like to gently ask you to consider that no-one is actually saying thin people can't (this is coming from someone in a small/thin body). The issue is that a lot of the time society says FAT PEOPLE CAN'T. Which is BS. Fatphobia is rampant in society and negatively impacts the mental and physical health of ALL fat people - people in smaller bodies are not on the whole subjected to this (and acknowledging this does not take away from your own experiences!). I think they’re missing a lot of proportion and texture details. The looks on the models are expertly curated… some of these dupes aren’t as nice because the quality isn’t as nice. That’s why they say they didn’t understand what was so cool about it.

Dismissing a models outfit by calling it fat phobic because they don’t put any effort, “they just wear clothes”, they “use their stomach as an accessory” diminishes the work they put into their bodies. They may be “off-duty” but that doesn’t mean they aren’t trying. It’s literally their job to look this way in these clothes.
One of the few videos recently that I could watch in one sitting. Absolutely loved everyone’s energies individually and together. Loved, loved loved how they all tried different styles and the little interlude on race.
