Amy needs to realize that it wasn't Leonard's place to make Sheldon stay. As always, Sheldon doesn't think about how others will feel about him leaving. It is always all about him.
It's this scene where you can really sympathize with Sheldon in a way, everything he's gotten used to for so long is changing in a way even someone as smart as him can't adapt to and it's really shaking him up, so his best solution is to run away from it all to work things out, I can definitely sympathize with him because this happened to me too
Not everything was changing. Heck in the beginning of the episode he himself tried to initiate a change (he wanted to change his field from Theoretical Physics to Dark Matter) but the university wouldn't let him due to his contract. If anything, there is no change in regards to his job status. So yeah, his argument of "everything is changing" is flawed. He's only ticked because things didn't go his way (as usual) and he reached his breaking point (which is still rather low by the end of the series).
@@jdbm Changing a field of research in Physics was never a great deal for Sheldon, it was the day to day stuff that he doesn't like changing. It's like he can handle every change in his job but after when he gets home, he needs a constant in his life that can be his comfort zone, everyone wants that. For him it was comic book store, his friends, himself and bunch of other stuff. The most important things that you want constant get changed drastically, it overwhelms you a lot! Maybe to you it was small, for a high functioning autistic like Sheldon it is probably way too much considering he doesn't even change his bowel movememnts unless it's an emergency!

Penny is the perfect example of a loving and concerned friend, but with healthy boundaries. Leonard loves Sheldon and he worries constantly, but bc of his upbringing, he has extremely poor boundaries (which is why he gets taken advantage of constantly).

You know it's bad enough the writers made Penny go from the only one who would stand up to Sheldon, to coddling him like his mother did in Young Sheldon, but what on earth was she thinking in this scene?! Sheldon's way too sheltered to handle railcar life. I know Amy would never, but she should really be mad at Penny.
Something that always bothered me about this is that Leonard saw Sheldons reaction to what was happening as an overeaction and him being dramatic when in reality Sheldon thought he was loosing his best friend, so many things were changing at once and it was extremely overwhelming for him. But no-one seemed to understand that and only critized him for it. Even in a later episode when Leonard tells Sheldon that the last time he brought up moving 'You had a breakdown and ran away'. Leonard spends so much time with Sheldon but can never truly understand how he feels and only treats him like a crazy person for having said feelings :(
This resonates with me a lot today. I nearly took a train away because everything is changing last minute. I cannot deal with it and have had two breakdowns today. A lot of people hate using Sheldon Cooper as a comparison to autism BUT on some occasions, i really can understand it. Most people cannot comprehend how hard change is for us aspies.
