i imagine its history being some small french company that tries to make a cool car but totally fails XD also yeah the engine is very... interesting to say the least lol
Yeah, this is a lot worse (in terms of driving difficulty) than my rear-engine FWD car. I had about half the horsepower, and my car was from 1998, not 1985. I drove it up Pike’s Peak, and it was remarkably manageable, if incredibly slow.
I think this would be the car that could be created if Citroën were on drugs since its the brand in France that were quite innovative compared to other local brands: pneumatics suspensions, the double gear system in some gearboxes (their logo was inspired by that), ect...
This was tried in the real world, and it remained a prototype and was never done again for a reason. That being said, the car looks and sounds amazing!
The one trick a car with an RF layout (as opposed to the FR being uber common) can do that other cars can't is doing a burnout using the handbrake to stay in one place, since if you turn the wheels the car could potentially rotate on the spot if you pull the handbrake with the right timing XD
I guess you haven’t learned much from the Dymaxion, a rear engine front wheel drive car. Then again, it had rear wheel steering and was about the size as an apartment in LA, so it handled like shit.
someone built a dymaxion replica and stated that its was one of the most scariest things he had driven. I think there is a youtube video somewhere of it
honestly, the only useful application I can think of for a rear engine front wheel drive car would be as a drift vehicle because of all that weight in the back end swinging all over the place
Technically the scoop on the hood wouldn’t be far off, they would’ve used it for natural air, the French used to have some amazing cabin airflow designs in their vehicles that would pull fresh air from the outside and great quality too with no need for a/c
Hey, love the looks of this thing. If it were real, I would actually buy it. I have a feeling that those door pull handle rings may rust out at the bottom eventually, just looking at them.
Ahh finally somebody did it xD In flatout 2 first car is fwd but have visible huge engine in the rear. Since i was kid i wondered how terrible it would be i reality.
@0:39 Rear engine fwd? You mean rear engine rwd, right? Like a Porsche 911. If done right it is actually a great layout. The Smart ForTwo is a rear engine RWD car and it works pretty good.
For this type of car, a french car factory of the 70s - 90s sould be named 'Futurama' or something in french about SF or future and ad some random suffixes at the end ( 'ÉspaceMobile', 'Intemporel', 'Moderna', etc. I know what i say i'm french
Don't know why but the car kinda reminds of the Citroën Xantia, it has kinda advanced technology for its time, like adjustable pneumatic suspensions but it looks ugly. Advanced for its time, but ugly I'm french by the way so that's a bit why i bring Citroën on the table from nowhere Nice car btw, and i confirm the line of the car really reminds the 80's - early 2000's french cars
Cerf, would be a cool French car name. It means reindeer. Maybe a new emblem of a reindeers head in profile. Im used to come up with fictional carnames, since i draw my own designs.
The only way this layout would be practical at all, would be a mid-rear longitudinal mounted engine, fwd. Hold on, there's some logic to it. So it's a sedan right? so there is a back seat then the trunk. The dead space underneath the rear seats would be **just** enough space for a boxer engine. Or... an inline engine. The inline 4cyl tilted 90 degrees, geared to a transmission on the opposite side, driveshaft goes to the front differential. You would have two trunks. Normally you would put the gas tank under the rear seats, but there's an engine there. So you the gas tank between the front seats on top of the driveshaft tunnel. The center console would be suspiciously long with oddly shallow storage space... but I think it would work. It would be very safe in a crash.
I like to imagine the base- and mid-trim models of this car were front engined and did...sub-optimal but weren't a total failure. But for the top of the line version they went crazy. Inspired by the Renault 5 rally car and porsche's strong name, they made this...and failed.
At least the Gemera has electric motors to drive the rear wheels. Though I don't really know why they decided to have the mid mounted engine drive the front wheels either.
You know, If this were a real car and if it had a wing on the front, I would actually buy it and drive it. It's design is very unique as well. also, a name suggestion for the brand; Reyold (pronounced Ray-Old) Idk to me it sounds a bit weird but like you said, the car is meant to be quirky

Can you create a very light car like a citroen saxo and instead of a 1.1 60 stock engine, put like a powerful 1.1 250 hp motorcycle engine in it? But keeping it fwd. I'd like to see what such a swap would give for my own real life project. Thanks! 😁
Hey, I've seen quite a couple of those swaps. My advice is: reinforce EVERYTHING, i've seen chassis break because of too much HP and torque. Lower the car, make it stiffer and put bigger wheels to increase grip. You probably would want to change the steering rack as it may not be precise enough to handle that power in corners.
@@Davix-tt9sh hi Thanks for the constructive answer! Indeed if I'm doing so, I'll first add strut bars everywhere I can and probably reinforce my rollcage to make it one with the chassis. With some welding beneath the car, I hope it will manage the torsion of the acceleration. For the wheels, I'll certainly go for semi slicks or maybe even full slicks tyres in case of dry weather. This should help a lot. About the steering rack, what should I do? Any advices? Thanks a lot
Forklifts are rear engine front wheel drive. And they had the rear wheels do the steering. This does make sense although not on passenger vehicles. It does suck on speed, sure.
