If you want a huge leap in power, for dramatic effect, 2zz-ge VVL kicks in harder than any Honda's. It's a jump of 40 horsepower or so. Yes, I drive one. And no, it's not for performance, it's for all the drama.
been there, done that. vvl isnt that dramatic in automation, it's good if you want extra low end. and it doesnt export extra loud noises when it kicks in. basically allows you to run a tractor cam at low rpm and a full race cam up top with little regard for logic (cam lift being one left unexplored). shit turbo build. i can beat his numbers with a 1980's 2L blow through turbo carbed v8 engine, with a proper 600hp creep before 5k rpm. it's all down to fine tuning the turbo and the cam to work at 8k rpm and more. why 2L? because that's italian rules. there was extra taxes for more. see maserati's ghibli twin turbo v6.

Once made a Pikes Peak car: 730kg, almost 1300hp out of a super laggy (6k rpm kicks in the boost lol) 1.4L DOHC 15v Inline 3. 0-60 in 2 seconds flat, 500kph top speed if you removed the crazy aero. Corners at like 1.5 Gs Insanity
Were you going for realism or were you on a quality spam build. I quality spammed my way to 2.1G cornering and 0-100 km/h in 1.9s, 400-410km/h top speed.
The F40s boost comes on like a light switch, it pulls hard off the line and then when you think your all the way there, there’s a sudden and dramatic increase in power and it rips through the next 4.5k rpm. 0:08
It actually drives really nice, I got a 1:10 on short race circuit hiroshi (using steering wheel it's not scary anyway). The main problem is it's not very fast after gear 2 is done because most of the time you are forced to be out of the power band. I do like it though, somehow not having any weight over the front was not too big an issue, the limit of grip was easy to feel out.
