    I wanted to help support your journey with this boat. I’m a United State Marine Corp Veteran. The Marines played a big part in the D-Day landing, I bought 2 of your stickers to help some. I know it’s not a lot of money but it’s what I could afford. I found one of your videos on TikTok today. I read the history and your story and now I’m a follower until you get it done. I plan on helping you and your family out with your journey as much as I can when I can. It not a lot but it some. Please keep doing what your doing and forget the haters, we all have haters in life that just means your doing something right.

    What an amazing couple you are, most people would have run a mile from a project as big as this. You enthusiasm shines through and to see how far you have come is astounding. What a sense of achievement you will have when this ship is saved. I have nothing but admiration for you guys, and a big thank you for keeping us entertained and bring laughter into these tough times we find ourselves in.

    Gemma and Simon, I can’t express how much I admire what you have done, are doing and no doubt will do. As an expat scouser, I only wish I could get back to lend a hand at your ‘open days’, but covid etc. has stopped that. Your TH-cam episodes keep me entertained. Keep going, not for me and the thousands that follow you, but for yourself. Overcome all obstacles ahead and enjoy YOUR boat, because it is yours.

    Doing something like this just makes that time spent enjoying the fruits of your labor even more enjoyable. A number of years ago my wife and I bought a down on her luck 72 ft houseboat. We spent months and months updating the interior and the mechanical systems. Then one fateful Christmas Eve I got a phone call from the marina and was told our houseboat was lost in a dock fire. Hopefully your story works out better than ours.

    Well done you guys. I have to say I was a doubting thomas when you started. I think you have made good progress and learnt many new skills. A somewhat unconventional approach to fixing up wooden boats, but I suspect during her war years and 40s-50s, she was treated the same way, and it is a refreshing change from the precision engineering of Acorn to Arabella and Sampson etc, much as I love those. I think your super skill will be stamina and optimism. go for it.

    Painting a coat of primer on top of a completely rotten boat is like putting a band aid on a severed limb. Dry dock the boat and fix it correctly before it rots from beneath you.

    • @ShipHappensUK
      @ShipHappensUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Forgive me if I don't listen to your professional opinion, but feel free to email me over your full survey of our boat. As anyone with a clue or a brain would never dry dock a wooden boat for a 8 year project. And the hull is not rotten one bit! And if you actually watched our videos you would see that the frames inside with water damage are all currently being replaced. But cheers for your positivity, imagine a world if everyone was like you! God help us all! 👍

They are gass powered so no need to worry about power. They can also be used with an attachment to make a wet sandblaster, nice because no dust. I came across this video that you might be interested in. The Fairmile was not just used in Britain for coastal defence. It was also built in Canada and used by the Canadian Navy in protecting the harbours where shipping was originating as well as protecting the Saint Lawrence Seaway. My Brother-in-law Norm Ilton was a sailor on these vessels. RCVNR was the designation of these sailors. Royal Canadian Volunteer Navel Reserve. Many of the Vessels where built by Greavette Marine based in Gravenhurst Ontario but constructed in Honey Harbour on Georgean Bay. It was a safe inland location that had access to the ocean.
