    Excellent review.
    As much as I like Zach's way of doing things, I think Adam packs in even more useful and interesting stuff, and clearly has done a bunch of research on this particular bike. I mean he even compared the brand/model of tires on this R3 vs the last one! He puts stuff in I want to know about, such as suspension specifics, quality feel, ergonomics, and so on. He obviously knows a lot about bikes.
    Really good rider too.

    I only just bought one in blue for my son , at first I didn’t really care much for the bike but because he’s just got his license I figured this bike would be ok . After about a week I decided to take it for a run , my god I was really impressed and surprised with how easily this bike rode and the performance took me by surprise, if your just starting out on the road this bike is a fantastic choice , I later took the ninja 400 and the CBR 500 for a run as my curiosity was beginning to itch a little towards the entry level super bike and by far I’d say you’d be silly to not choose the R3 , the ninja didn’t ride anywhere near as good and the CBR ( I’m a Honda fan ) I thought was in its class but obviously the 500 has more power and weight so also far more expensive but I still felt the better ride came from the R3 .

      On that note displaying the speedo while traveling what's appeared to be 70+ on city streets isn't the best example. Additionally ABS doesn't simply allow a new rider to just grab the brake and get the best performance. Typically if you push ABS to the point of engagement you are increasing braking distance. ABS isn't a replacement for good riding practice.

    • @johnsansbury6206
      @johnsansbury6206 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Koleboetel I agree. I noted several times the speedo was reading out 80+ mph on roads that looked like they were 45mph max. Sold off my Monster 796 few years back and decided to go back into riding when this model caught my eyes. Really fun bike to ride in the city, in freeways, as mentioned you gotta rev it up to keep up to speed (I’m guessing the R3 has slightly more power), but all in all, really happy with this one!

Some had a weak triple tree. We were just informed of a bad shifter spring along with a faulty coolant hose. Who knows what else down the road. My Wife loves the bike and so do I but the recalls have both of us to the point where we don't trust riding the bike for fear of what else may be wrong that hasn't had a recall. For me? My confidence in Yamaha is ruined. I understand the 15 was a first year bike but this is so uncommon for a bike from any of the big four out of Japan.

My R3 is converted long distance touring with a high quality after market seat, Akrapovic slip on, wider rear tire (150/60) and a new rear sprocket with one less teeth to equal factory speedo. Add a tank bag, rear saddles, rear top bag, and you can travel a long way comfortably.

    Two issues with the new series. First is the audio, which has been brought up multiple times already. Second, this feels like it is bouncing around a lot and he isnt riding like a responsible commuter. Zack had a format to the show, he would go through specs on the bike, then talk about the engine, ergos, highway, brakes etc in a specific order. This feels like it is bouncing all over the place and seeing him rocket away from every stop light at wide open throttle and clearly violate every single speed limit doesn't seem like a good ambassador of our sport. I'm not saying dont have fun but he was riding like a jackass...

    How about taking a Royal Enfield Himalayan for a spin...err commute!!!

  • @TD402dd
    @TD402dd 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    The audio inside the helmet was better than most. I came down from a big Triumph 955i triple to the first R3 mostly because I'm 5' 9.5" inches with a 29" inseam. The Triumph was easy enough to ride, but I broke my leg on a steep driveway because I didn't have good touch with my feet. Even so I rode it for 12 years. Now the R3 has provided me with better foot touch, lighter, more flickable, however the mileage is the same because the Triumph got 50mpg. With a new seat with better padding (including gel bottom), I use my smaller R3 with saddle bags, rear top bag, and tank bag to ride long trips. It gets me where I go quickly and with a higher fun factor. Now the tires, the rear wheel is wide enough for the 150/60 radial allowing you to step up to high end Z-rated radials. Why they stick with the 140/70 is beyond me. That wider tire make a difference in the ride and the handling. The better tires immediately changes the overall character of the bike (Metzeler Sportec M7RR highly recommended with the rear tire size change). The speed is a bit lower, but dropping a tooth in the rear will bring the speedo back to normal. The reason I said so much is because the R3 is more than entry, it is a quality bike for sport touring, that also fits smaller people.

    I don't call 50mpg "sippin'" for a 300cc machine when it comes to fuel consumption, my 2002 995i triumph does far better than that! But thats the price of having a high revving engine! More revs = more fuel/air cycles= lower MPG! Not a good advert for a commuter machine!
    You want to be a bit more cautious splitting lanes at that speed too, it only takes one driver to change lanes at short notice with no signal and no mirror check....
