    I am from Odisha. Before independence Mahanadi river was the best transport mode between East Odisha and West Odisha. If that can be restored then a सस्ता mode of transport will be in action.
    You have done a tramandous research thanks for that . Keep it up.

      The problem that since Mumbai is an island it cannot grow horizontally is not a problem at all. It is an excuse by the politicians and builder nexus to build skyscrapers and coastal roads on expensive Mumbai land and even worse bridges in the ocean(e.g. Bandra-Worli sea link) to make quick and huge money at the expense of destroying nature (and its beauty), of sane living in and of sane development of Mumbai.
      The FSI must be fixed at 1or less and the height of buildings must be fixed at 98 feet or less both depending on the natural underground water-table level (this will control the population explosion and keep population at the right level/square km.
      Also this will prevent an already worldwide hazardous phenomenon called 'the sick building effect' which leads to death due to cancer, kidney failure, TB, chronic respiratory disorders amongst others. Also this will prevent an already worldwide catastrophe i.e. flooding that happens because higher FSI and taller buildings lead to larger underground foundations of those buildings which leads to less space for water both in the rocky aquifers and the soil which leads to a catastrophic rise in the water-table which leads to flooding.
      Also this will prevent tripling or quadrupling of electricity bills which happens because tall buildings lead to almost no daylight penetration on the ground or inside the houses or offices which leads to usage of electricity throughout the day for light and air-conditioning which leads to multiple times higher bills. ) .
      The island (seperated by the Ulhas river) must be connected to its surrounding cities that are Navi Mumbai, Shreesthaan (Thane), Vasai-Virar by bridges across the river ( bridges already existing and also Trans Harbour Link across Ulhas river brack waters near Panvel creek) and further by roads (roads already existing) and metros including 'water metros' (not existing) and 'bus metros' (not existing) and 'train metros' (not existing) to Shreesthaan (Thane), Kalyan-Dombivli, Navi Mumbai, Panvel, Badlapur, Ambernath, Vasai-Virar. Not by making insane coastal roads (including bridges) in the ocean and on the beaches destroying all the open spaces (beaches) and beautiful (happiness-giving) views (the sea, the horizon, the sky, the sunset) and the underwater flora and fauna (including planktons that light up the sea at night) forming the entire seaface. The Worli Seaface is gone. Completely desecrated. There must not be any bridge in the ocean (from Bandra to Versova: Save Juhu Seaface a 7 km long seaface, which is the most visited beach in Sindhusthaan, with immediate effect ) or on the beaches or shore areas or hills/mountains, to obstruct and hinder beautiful views from the beaches or from anywhere inland. There must be unobstructed, unhindered views,as there are now, (except the Bandra-Worli Sea Link plus a new addition now the coastal road which makes ugly the view from Bandra, Mahim, Worli). Also from such beautiful places as beaches, seashores and others, the skyscrapers must not be visible.
      Mumbai is the number 1 tourist (local i.e. from the city, from the state, national, international) destination in Sindhusthaan because of its hills including Andheri (Andhra Giri or Dongar which is 200 feet tall, monolithic, mesozoic era, 6.6 crore years old, the only one inside a city in the whole world, one of the only two anywhere in the whole world, heritage site ), 6 rivers (Ulhas river which forms the Shreesthaan i.e. Thane creek and the Vasai creek to form the Shatshasti island, Mahim river i.e. the so-called mithi river, the Oshiwara river, the Shreesthaan (Thane)/Mulund river, the Dahisar river, the Poisar river), streams+
      tributaries+
      rivulets (nalas) all over the city, 19 beaches, 104 sq km National park, Thane creek National wildlife sanctuary, Aarey colony (including forests which the Modi/Fadnavis gov converted into a development zone from a no-development zone to build the metro 3 car shed by passing a legislation i.e. law after the courts and the National Green Tribunal stopped their work, Chhota Kashmir garden, film city's lake), mangrove forests, wetlands (including 'khaadis' and mangroves along the nalas), natural and heritage man-made saltpans, more than 88 lakes, 150 ancient caves, more than 950 gardens and parks of Mumbai, playgrounds (maidans), sports complexes, swimming pools, recreation clubs, stadiums, beaches of Vasai-Virar, Palghar and Raigad amongst other tourist attractions.
      The value of Mumbai's natural resources of aesthetic concern and/or man-made tourist attractions must be conserved by not making man-made structures (including skyscrapers, transportation infrastructure ) near it or visible from its location.
      People of Maharashtra must go to court and also do an andolan against the gov (Modi gov, Gadkari gov, Fadnavis gov, Shinde gov or Thackeray gov or Gandhi gov or Pawar gov or any gov) that plans and permits such purposeful desecration of natural beauty and, with immediate effect, get a permanent ban on desecration of and a permanent law for protection of natural beauty of our heritage state that is Maharashtra.

    Great video and narration. India is blessed with so many rivers, fresh water lakes, salty backwaters, sea on three sides. Plus it has many dams and canals used for agriculture, pastoral, industrial and household purposes. Our nation has the oldest maritime trade and naval history. We must explore the potential of waterways because road, rail and air traffic are becoming so busy and pollution is increasing especially there is traffic jams on roads. Water transportation using boats and vessels powered using solar power and water cells will be the best option. 👌🙏

    Waterways is cheaper than railways only when you consider the railway to be a diesel operated transport. Electrified railways is still cheaper than oil run water transport. If the water transports is electrified to and if solar is also used with it, like we have seen in Kochi or in many other countries, it would be the cheapest mode of transport.

    • @indie6317
      @indie6317 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It will not became chep because in producing electricity you should invest more money and it requires other investments too
      At other hand waterways are imp to divert all the goods from roads to water and the equipment
      It decreases trafic and passenger train got vacant route to increase its efficiency
      So everything is imp for high load waterways is must for fastest train is best
      For deep into society road are best

      No bro even electric trains are not cheaper than freight transport and there is a reason 99.9% of freight still uses fossil fuel using electric ship u can only carry few hundred containers also the distance they can travel is very small too but morden freight carry over 10,000 of these containers over tens of thousands of kilometres this is way more practical for long distance transportation

    The biggest advantage of waterway transportation is that the boats and ships float. They don't require suspensions and wheels. Water is a natural and never-ending suspension.

    Btw, I have question, would it be possible to cross connect all the major rivers throughout the country with each other by making multiple artificial canals, if yes, would it be economical feasable in the long run, and if not what could be the reasons behind it? What are your opinions on it?

    • @TheGraphicEarth
      @TheGraphicEarth  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you so much Harsh :)
      Yes it is possible, Infact River linking project is one of the most Ambitious proposed infrastructure project in india where all the major rivers of the country will be interconnect. The main aim of the project is to effectively manage the water resources by diverting excessive water from flood prone rivers to drought prone rivers and areas...
      This artificial canals will also benifit the rural irrigation and ground water recharge....
      This Project will significantly increase the agricultural output of the country with developing the drought prone regions and will also minimise the damage and loss which happens from floods, Many of this canals will be Navigable which can be used for transportation and tourism, Dams and reservoirs will be used for hydroelectric power generation....
      Although these are just estimations, the real economic benefits or loss can be only known when the project will become fully operational, As this project will greatly affect the natural ecosystem and environment as well....

    • @HarshRaj-px9se
      @HarshRaj-px9se 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TheGraphicEarth Thanks for the reply.
      Able to deal with flood prone areas by supply water could be a great change for Bihar and North-East. Flood during monsoon does a lot of Destruction in Bihar, especially in agriculture sector.
      Now, I think it's really an ambitious project, and might require decades to complete once initiated properly, even though the work on over 100s waterways would act as a basic structure to support those canals.
      I guess doing a sustainable and stepwise process is really important in this one since it would be expensive, and likely even more expensive than Bharat mala and Water mala combined as not only Ports have to be made, it would also need to dig large amounts of soil for canals, definitely challenging full project to complete, as canals would have to be large enough to have easy transportation of big cargos, while making new dams and bridges for roads and railways, then hundreds of small but importing things, there are even effect on environment and climate factors there.
      I would say it might even take more than 3 decades, but again if it is completed, it would bring change in many things rather than just transportation, and would likely help in the long run.

    Still some pakistan's remains are in Bangladesh who wants problems. But We need to accept and understand india-Bangladesh friendship is very important for regions progress. If it was pakistan they could have went to bankruptcy but did not cooperate with india for people's good. Which naturally makes CAA, NRC important to understand the nationality. Which increases stability and reduces illegal transport in both the countries. It will neutralize the crime rate in the area.

Cholas are the kings who extensively used waterways for trade, and they established connections even with various countries through trade, and even ruled other coastal countries... They were the kings of maritime.... Same with Pandyas, they even had connection with present day Malaysian regions... Talk abt these , not only North....
