  • I show you how to recreate the well-known Freeze frame clone trail effect or Motion trail effect from music videos (like One Direction's "You and I" or Ariana Grande's "The Light is Coming") with a 360 camera. And for further 360 contents and tutorials, subscribe to my TH-cam channel: th-cam.com/users/gabavr?sub_co...
    In this video I show you the secret of a very spectacular video effect in an advanced version, with a moving camera. And these are not only small movements, like cropping into a 4K video, but in certain cases they can be really big ones, like panning or following somebody crossing the scene. Or there can be some random movements looking quite unpredictable for the viewers. So it’s a really cool technique with a lot of freedom.
    I show you how to shoot and edit for the best results with some advanced reframing and masking techniques.

    Nice video, I guess the simple idea is to put cloned pictures in front and remove it as it is passed by.
    There are many more variations from this, like pop only next 2 pics as action merge.
    Is there "lead effect" video term too? Bit more tweaks and we could have few more awesome videos tricksfrom these same footages.
    Thanks for sharing and cheers!

    Thank you so much for this tutorial 😊.
    I putting the info to use with my InstaX and premiere as I type this.
    I would like to offer this tip as a thank you.
    When you load up your (GoPro reframe effects) the next step would be to disable (motion blur) in the advance controls section of the (effects controls) window. This will have a severe effect on the preview playback engine and FPS of your video previews. The result is a noticeable increase in view-ability for your playback window.
    In short the motion blur option inside the (reframe plugin) adds strain on a PCs’ CPU or graphics card.
    👍🏻

      Of course, you can do everything in Premiere. The only reason I prefer masking in Photoshop, because it's faster and more precise for me. But if you draw a nice mask in Premiere, you'll get almost the same result. 🙂

    • @GabaVR

      I'm not sure about Premiere Elements functions, but you can do these things almost with any video editor where multi-layer editing is available.

    Thanks for sharing this infos. How do you proceed to come with equirectangular format in premiere pro ? raw video files from Insta360 are insv format and have a two fisheyes render... Thanks

    • @GabaVR
      @GabaVR  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to install the Insta360 plugin for Premiere, so you can import your invs files without having to render them in Insta360 Studio beforehand.
      Actually you can do it during installing the Insta360 studio. You have to check in this plugin to install, and you’re ready to use it.

    Always love these shots not just clone trailing but also shadow cloning. Does it cost for the software you use to do this or can you do it in a free version. I have the one r. Really tryin to do the 4 or 5 of different clips of the same person in a video. Thank you so much

    • @GabaVR
      @GabaVR  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, it's not about the software or the camera, but the idea of recording and editing these videos. Adobe Premiere and Photoshop are not free, but actually you can do the same thing in DaVince Resolve, which have a free version.
      The point is to shoot carefully, mask and edit the clips like this, then reframe. Unfortunately not all the reframe plugins work in DaVinci, but you can reframe your edited video in Inta360 Studio, too. 😉

    • @statmanstudios378

    Great! I use Final cut pro, can you do similar editing in that?

    • @GabaVR
      @GabaVR  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I've never used Final Cut pro but I believe, it's absolutely possible, if there's any reframing plugin in it.
      If there's not, you can still create the cloning part of this technique the same way, and export the 360 video without any "fake camera movements". Then you can reframe the video in a 360 editing app, like Insta360 Studio.

    • @DjJaviSanchez
      @DjJaviSanchez 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GabaVR Thank you so much. Thanks to your explanation I have achieved the desired effect. For people using final cut pro: Import the mp4 file into final cut pro X, in a monoscopic 360 project, freeze frames are applied and a drawing mask is added. After doing this, the file is imported to insta360 studio and the keyframes are added to it while the video is rotated in the desired direction.

    i dont use adobe, but it wil be a challange in Coral Videostudio !

    • @GabaVR
      @GabaVR  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have a reframe plugin which works in Coral, you're good to go! 🙂 This technique works in any editor.
      Or, you could give the DaVinci Resolve 16 a try. It has a free version, and there's the Reframe360 plugin which works well in DaVinci, too. So it costs nothing. 🙃

    Do you know why the Adjustment Layer isn't moving with the VR stuff? Yaw, Pitch and Roll isn't working... Just FOV. Thanks in advance :)

    • @GabaVR
      @GabaVR  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, it depends on. Which plugin do you use?
      With Reframe360 you have to make sure that the dimensions of the sequence matches the size of your footage perfectly.
      Using the old GoPro VR reframe plugin you dont have to bother with it. But there could be some issues with the latest GoPro FX plugin, so that’s why I always pick up one of the first two plugins.
      Unfortunately I’m not sure I can help you in the comment section, but if you send me some screenshots or a short video about the issue and your settings in p.m., I can surely tell you what the problem is. 🙂

    • @GabaVR
      @GabaVR  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank your for showing me the issue! You have to turn on GPU acceleration in your project settings.
      GoPro VR plugins don't work with software rendering, but if you can turn on CUDA (or any options your graphic card supports), this problem will disappear.

    Super great video and thanks for taking the time. question, i do my post production exclusively on mobile (iPhone 11), do you know if you can do these type of videos on iphone via Adobe Premiere Rush? I played around with the process last night but could not find the brush to circle the clones. Hoping to be able to do freeze frame clone trails as well as shadow clone videos but everything is in Adobe Premiere on desktop and not mobile. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

    • @GabaVR
      @GabaVR  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      On mobile I would change the order a little bit. Try to export the frames first and create a transparent .png with Photoshop Mix, so you don't have to bother with masking in Premiere. Make sure to make a cut at each snapshot, so you can insert them at the proper place. This is what I would do on mobile. 🙂

    • @TheMcDannells
      @TheMcDannells 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GabaVR Excellent! Am I doing the transparent.png of the screen shots and adding them to the story line then having them drop off when i get to that point in the video? Would you recommend one mobile video editor over others? and possibly not an adobe product due to the cost.

    • @GabaVR
      @GabaVR  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, after exporting the frames you can mask and make them transparent in Photoshop Mix. Then you can import them, putting the pngs just like I did in this video.
      But unfortunately I don’t know really usable video editing apps on mobile where you can work with multiple layers - it’s always a big challenge for me too, and that’s why I work with laptops or desktop computers.

      @TheMcDannells 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GabaVR thanks a ton for the help and after searching for the last several days i'm finding the same (regarding limited mobile support). Any recommendations for a good desktop Mac multi-track editing software that's not crazy expensive like Adobe? I'd pay $50 one time, i just can't shell out $10 or $20 a month.

    • @GabaVR

      tmcdanne Well, I think even the free version of DaVinci Reslove can be a good choice.

  • @JeanVoigtJev
    @JeanVoigtJev 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    By the way, when I export my file the video appears much closer. Any idea or tip how to d this correctly? - and I understand the part with the PSDs now.

    • @GabaVR
      @GabaVR  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you use the same export settings as your sequence settings?
      If you don't modify anything, the re-framed video must be with 2:1 aspect ratio, and if you don't keep it during exporting, it might cut the left and right side of the frame.
