    It's a great way to get something more usable than a phone screen when you're on the go, and so on. I have an external screen that has two USB-C ports, so I can hook up a battery pack and the phone at the same time, thus keeping everything going, and of course bluetooth keyboard and mouse takes care of input, so I'm not really in the market for these - but I have to say, the Nexdock looks really good.

    I just bought this. I too thought I would rarely use dex wirelessly for the same lag reasons. But I love the wireless functionality. I'll go into my own review in case anyone is curious.
    After using it, I love the wireless more than the cable. The cable it comes with is very rigid and makes it hard to stay plugged in with my magnetic phone plug I bought. Even without the magnetic plug it would tug at the port and surely cause some wear. The wireless is not 100% smooth, but it's easily good enough. I can watch video and forget that it's wireless because the lag isn't bad.
    Wired use is buttery smooth and a better software experience, but not as wildly better than the wireless as I thought.
    The speaker sounds a little tin-y but I thought it was going to be quieter and worse than it actually is.
    There are 2 things I dislike about it so far. When using it or charging it, there is a high pitched electricity tone that you can constantly hear. And the battery when using wireless (not charging the phone) is only about 5 hours of use, and it doesn't charge quickly at all. I had it plugged in for many many hours while using it and it never got up to 80%.
    I've only had it a day so far, but I'm liking it a lot. Really hoping that Samsung starts really working on Dex more. Love the concept. It's not a bad experience, but you can tell it's a young technology. That will come in time though.

    I work in IT and using this to connect to an unfinished pc or a headless server for maintenance is great. I started with the Nexdock1 all the way to this version. I have wished for years that high end laptops had the same features (almost like a kvm) built in for years.

      RIGHT! It would be SO helpful. We've only had a FEW options that had a true HDMI input and the ability to "share" accessories like keyboard and trackpad. A good lapdock is crazy versatile.

    Commented on the other video as well... I know this is an old video, but the Nexdock 360 is my go-to device for a datacenter crash cart replacement. I can easily plug into a server and have a ready to use console without dealing with dragging around a real crash cart or a laptop with $400+ crash cart adapter. They could sell 10x as many as they do today if they marketed it to IT professionals in this way.

    Can you connect the galaxy phone to the uperfect dock through a type c hub to gain more ports before plugging in to the lapdock? Or it must be a direct wire connection from the phone to the lapdock?

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Maybe? Often hubs wont have a complete proper pass thru for the additional C ports. What you'd need to do instead is go two cable. A USB for the keyboard and trackpad, and a separate HDMI. That should work fine.

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yup. I'll never understand why people like Dex when used on a PC. The PC "fakes" a display in software and the experience is really choppy. Connect Dex DIRECTLY to a monitor/NexDock and it should be a LOT smoother.

    NexDock is against right to repair. They will not sell you a new battery when it dies even soon after their 6 month warranty. Citing shipping restrictions on batteries which can be solved. No you cannot use your NexDock plugged in with a dead battery, even if you remove it. It will not power on.

      I don't think this lapdock even has a user-replaceable battery. Look at how thin that body is.

    • @notcorrect
      @notcorrect ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Faris Hanafiah Sure, but being thin does not mean it should not be repairable. You can still remove the cover and replace the battery when it fails.

      Hey just wanted to ask where you got that info that they are against r2r?
      As a manufacturing engineer there is a real cost associated with designing that into a product, and I doubt they have the R&D budget at the moment with their volume

    • @notcorrect
      @notcorrect ปีที่แล้ว

      @DonaldJBiden-sw4pu I'm not sure I understand your question.
      I dont think its about R&D since currently, it's easy to remove the battery by the end user, so all I need from them is to allow me to purchase a battery. It's a very normal expectation. The battery is usually the first part that needs replacing in a device. In my case, the battery failed after 8 months.
      They stated that they don't sell batteries. Batteries should always be available for purchase since they are expected to wear out and often fail. Not selling batteries and offering me to purchase a new product makes them anti right to repair.
      They also advertised that you can use this device longer than a regular laptop since it works with devices that come out in the future.

    • @OJsGuardianAngel
      @OJsGuardianAngel ปีที่แล้ว

      @@notcorrect What I am trying to get at is that your expectations dont seem to be aligned with the size of company Nexdock is. I have worked for small & large companies, and while i dont know the specifics for why Nexdock does not offer this, I think it may be unfair to assume a choice is made purely in bad faith.
