It does make a lot of sense but idk, I personally just ~feel~ like Kyogre is "better" (context being a "best pokemon" video) and, since Wolfey listed it last and mentioned it's one of his personal favourites as well, I'm considering it the winner - for whatever that's worth. Surely it's one of Wolfey's favourites over Groudon for a reason right? If you like them tied or think Groudon's better, that's cool but I'm going to type out my thoughts below just for my own sake. "Best" is pretty subjective to opinion and I didn't even play with the Primals so don't have proper context for Groudon's peak anyways. That said, Kyogre doesn't need to mega to boost it's own stabs and fix it's own Thunder accuracy. Water Spout's accuracy is also really reliable whereas Groudon is relying on P Blades more often. The thing that does it for me though is that in gen 8, there were a whole bunch of sun teams powered by Groudon but players still decided to replace it with Torkoal to fit Kyogre on the team (see Players Cup 3 winner). I get that was a metagame thing but it wasn't a one time use and it really impresses me that Kyogre was self-sufficient to the point of slotting in nicely with sun cores and seeing success. I'm probably underrating how effectively Groudon props up it's teammates while being so powerful on it's own but it just ~feels~ like it's less consistent of a threat itself without abusing the generational mechanic - the Primal fire typing and water immunity being massive or Dynamax fixing it's accuracy and bulk all at once. (Edit: I also feel like if it weren't for Storm Drain, this would be much less close.) 11:31 This is actually an incredibly niche but absolutely HEAT strategy in singles where you use Shell Smash as Torkoal, dropping your defenses but doubling your speed and offenses, immediately get ejected, and then send out a fast user of Copycat. Torkoal was underspeeding everything anyways, so you get in your new Pokemon for free and then get a shell smash off on something dangerous like Lucario or Zoroark.
I recently used a Pelliper in a playthrough of Ultra Sun and it getting Drizzle is the buff it needed. It was one of those mons that I wouldn't have paid mind to otherwise, not because I disliked it, but it didn't do anything interesting for me. I mostly wanted to use it as I was told it was great now and I needed a water type that wasn't Primarina (I chose Rowlett). I ultimately gave it scald, ice beam, and hurricane (I don't remember what the fourth move was). I also remember giving it leftovers to make it last longer. Not gonna lie it held its own rather well and was great for shutting down fire-types and removing any unwanted weather. I also had a Tyranitar on the team, so whenever it wasn't on the field I didn't exactly want to deal with sand.
I love torkoal so much!! He's my secondary sun setter on my sun team rn if koraidon is too threatened to lead, and he also checks some trick room stuff so i rlly like using him even tho he hasn't had that good results the last few weeks.

So many strong competitive Pokemon were introduced in Gen 3, but I knew who the top 2 would be.
Please do the best Ground-type Pokemon competitively sometime soon.
Im willing to bet the best Ground is Landorus Therian
@@milessteamaccount Or Groudon
@@snapclub8751 Actually it's tera ground Incineroar
@@snapclub8751Lando-T probably just takes it. Just.
Man I swear there is someone refreshing on Wolfey's page 24/7 for Wolfey to upload a video so they can comment Incineroar as soon as the video got uploaded
the other 3 that deserved a honorable mention IMO would be mega swampert in rain teams, mega Mawile ( one of the best megas for years ) and aaaayyybe mega blazikeneven if this last one was really niche
the bit where kyogre smiled at me was a moment of genuine and unbridled joy
I like that breaking news edit.
Wolfe I doubt you'll see this but as someone who hasn't played pokemon since gen 6 I think you are actual the best content maker on youtube atm. The quality of your videos you are putting out weekly is insane and always engaging.
1:29 i LOVE the game grumps reference LMAO
Man the editing is just top notch, elite, superb. Kudos to the team.
really surprised mega mawile wasn’t on this list
probably because mawile is terrible
@@GravityIsFalling mega mawile is good
They are just the same as kangaskhan
Wasn't mega mawile banned to ubers at some point?
@@ZyjhenCredo problem is there are more doubles viable mons in gen 3 than gen 1. Plus mega kanghaskan warped the metagame around it which can't be said for mega mawile
@@kristophesiem5336 this is doubles only list bro.
I’m surprised that Mawile didn’t get an honorable mention! Just because its mega was seemingly popular in X&Y. But maybe I overestimated its influence. Amazing video!❤
Love your style, keep rocking it!

This is actually an incredibly niche but absolutely HEAT strategy in singles where you use Shell Smash as Torkoal, dropping your defenses but doubling your speed and offenses, immediately get ejected, and then send out a fast user of Copycat. Torkoal was underspeeding everything anyways, so you get in your new Pokemon for free and then get a shell smash off on something dangerous like Lucario or Zoroark.
NEW WOLFEY CONTENT LETS GOOOO
I am actually so happy you had G&K tied. It just feels… right
Surprised about no mawile mention😢
yeah like what 💀
I recently used a Pelliper in a playthrough of Ultra Sun and it getting Drizzle is the buff it needed.
Nice suit!
I love torkoal so much!! He's my secondary sun setter on my sun team rn if koraidon is too threatened to lead, and he also checks some trick room stuff so i rlly like using him even tho he hasn't had that good results the last few weeks.
I love your videos ❤
I quit playing the games right when Sun and Moon came out and I've been watching all these videos you've got and feeling so sad that I quit when I did. Love seeing some of the random ones I would have never expected to be ranked so highly based off of my old experience with just playing mostly single player
too much water on the list smh
The threat of mega Incineroar was all I needed to hear, the funny subscribe button has been annihilated. You have the floor, champ.
Changed thumbnail ???
9:06I love the idea that ruby gets all the buzz words and then there’s just sapphire.
Why does the thumbnail keep changing 😭
Please keep doing this videos bro. This is top quality pokemon content 👏🏻
Where’s mega Mawile???
It would be such a fun series if Wofley went and looked at the Smogon Singles meta to see how drastically diffrent it is from VGC
He has played quite a lot of singles But he stopped Cuz it just bored him out of his mind
