Strongest Gen 1 Pokémon for me (top 5): 5th: Gengar, 4th: Gyarados, 3rd: Chansey, 2nd: Zapdos, 1st: Clefable. Mew and Magneton would be strong alternative choices for this list. Mew was my 'go-to' choice when I wanted to go hyper offense and not use two defensive mons like Skarmory + Blissey. 5 attackers instead of 4 helped with that strategy. But you know the secret 0th place in this list for me? Primeape. Gen 9 has turbo-charged Primeape. 252 HP, 252 DEF... Bulk Up, Drain Punch, Rage Fist, [Coverage 4th Move] With an eviolite. Rage Fist is such a good move. Tera ghost and this thing becomes a powerhouse. It becomes a full-blown mistake to U-turn or even volt-switch against this Pokemon. Now I put Clefable at 1st place in this list but not just for competitive reasons but rather how it allowed me to complete the hardest difficulty level of Pokemon Reborn and Pokemon Rejuvenation, using a wide variety of Clefable strategies. In competitive, there was also an almost undefeatable Clefable strategy in National Dex Anything Goes. Clefable's strongest moves aren't even legal to use in most ladder tiers, that's how busted it is in its raw 'unban-listed move' form. I made a Gen 1 only team for Gen 9 OU, but only managed to hit 1600 rating though. There is a lot of firepower in Gen 9 and Gen 1 Pokémon just don't have all of the tools required to deal with them all efficiently.
Random thought. Idk if it exists but, I think an ability like “Intervene” would be cool. A hit that would OHKO/maybe even just KO one of your pokemon, gets “Intervened” by your other Pokémon’s ability. Causing the “Intervene” Pokemon to take whatever the total damage was, regardless of type, but the one that gets saved takes no damage. Can only happen once, unless swapped out, then back in. Like Intimidate.
I generally enjoy the format of all your videos, but I especially like the scripting of this one, as well as What Is The Best Bug Type Pokemon Competitively! The delivery almost feels off the cuff, like analysis in real time sort of. Keep up the good work, everyone!
Marowak's effective base attack (if optimized) with the thick club is 209 if anyone is wondering. For reference, the highest attack ever belongs go Mega Mewtwo X with 190.

I’m kinda coming back to Pokemon after years away from the tournament scene, and I’m just glad that my favorite cabbage frog is a part of this list.
Also, just found you and your content, and am enjoying it very much! Keep up the good work sharing about this fun game 😁
Ditto is used to make most competitive teams. Therefor it is the GOAT
i cant believe he forgot Metapod, the hardest pokemon in kanto
0:26 Pikachu "Do you expect me to talk?" No Mr. Pikachu I expect CHU to die!
Snorlax never fell off, he just has to go take a really long nap every few years
Can't wait for Johto video it's my favorite region 🥹 Scizor is my fav pokemon he better make the list
Singles players won’t like this
There's pokemon players that aren't single!?
There ARE pokémon players WHO aren't single!?
How about finishing elementary school before trying to roast people?
@@colderie Really groundbreaking stuff here. You could have a future in stand-up comedy. 😬😬😬
Wolfey is like that one grandpa that tells you war stories whenever he comes over
What’s his credentials in other video games? I’d love to hear his endeavours in GTA 5 speed running
Yes I would love to see Jhoto next, it’s always fun to see if any of my favorite happened to be competitively good
ngl, it heart hearing Wolfe say Gengar and Arcanine and not Jenjar and Arcaneenay
No Dragonite? Really?
I think it’s cause you could really get it until gen 2
Dragonite constantly gets outclassed by other dragons throughout generations
Also it's typing sucks
SV early meta dragonite is probably the strongest dragonite ever been that too cause it can change typing through tera but that also gets powercrept
@@Blue_chess007been a very long time since I've played any competitive pokemon. But I remember using multi scale thunder wave substitute dragonite, and it being quite good
We're early today, boys
Where is Dragonite?
the overcooked music during the factor add lmao nice touch
In hindsight, the ghostly GOAT never deserved his ability nerf.
What about dragonite?
Spoiler: It's not Dewgong
The video is ruined now, I really thought it would be Dewgong 😤
Whaaaaat! No way, I honestly had hope. How could you spoil this for me 😤
Damn, no dewgong assault vest? The only true menace.
Hi wolfe, its me, im malding in the comments.
i would love to see a johto analysis like this one! curious how my faves over the years stacked up
This was an awesome video! I would love for you to do this with all regions (with Alola you should make a list that doesn't include incereroar, or a top 11)
No Dragonite on this list? Kinda shameless
I know 😢
Best of Jhoto pokemon:
Tyranitar
Scizor
Murkrow
Azumarill
Poiltoed
Raikuo
Entei
Suicune
Porygon 2
Hitmontop
Damn i barely even got 10, with three legendaries
Smeargle over Murkrow probably for longevity
Id switch murkrow for skarmory tbh
@@txtzx do you watch this channel normally? Skarmory is awful in vgc
@@snakexpert552 yeah you're right... but most of the other pokemon here have never seen usage stats near what murkrow saw before tornadus came out in SV
But idk what to move, probably raikuo
Azu over Murk too. Murk was a niche pick and then good in like one ruleset.
No Dragonite?
Surprised marowak was competitively viable, i used it for fun back in the day, didnt know it was good
I love the way these videos talking about the best competitive Pokemon just sound like Wolfey rambling
H A N D S 14:07
Banger vid again, you have a great ability to explain why certain Pokémon perform so well, same with in your tournament videos. Loving all your content man, and the frequency of your uploads is awesome too, you must be working hard.
I know this will never happen but I think a ranking of every Pokemon of all time competitively would be cool
Those gifs are so cute. Kudos to the artist.
Making this a series would be SICK! Some of the later gens would definitely make it tough to decide.
Strongest Gen 1 Pokémon for me (top 5):
5th: Gengar, 4th: Gyarados, 3rd: Chansey, 2nd: Zapdos, 1st: Clefable.
Bulk Up, Drain Punch, Rage Fist, [Coverage 4th Move]
With an eviolite.
Zapdos being in Number 3 makes so much sense. Its not the most broken, but its so reliable and consistent. Such a solid Mon!
A passive follow me sounds pretty darn broken NGL
@@rileyackison4495 that’s what follow me does? That’s dope! I know very little about competitive play. But I love these videos!
You could easily make this a series, covering every region. I'd watch 'em all!
So proud of Paul Ruiz!!!! Really big symbol in the pokemon world for our little Ecuador
Gengar is my all time fav, I was super annoyed when they removed levitate
21:36 I've somehow never realized that Venu is a frog. Consider my mind blown!
It's not often depicted moving like a frog. A lot of people had to take-two when it did in Pokemon Let's Go Eevee/Pikachu.
I like your little gif of Gengar for all the segments he’s in.
