Now, seeing your two will bring back sweet memories. I love your location for your cabin. It is so peaceful and the natural beauty of the surroundings must make you feel like you are in another world. It looks like a great spot to decompress and get serenity into your life, while you are up there. I love your thinking about food prep to have meals ready to throw on the grill. Saves a lot of time. Having a nap during a nice rain, is the best. One of my friends never ever naps during the day, ever. She gets ticked off at people who nap, she isn't jealous, she thinks your very lazy. Very weird.
I live in Arkansas and see snakes just like that trying to get into my chicken pen to steal eggs nearly every week. We call them "chicken snakes," but their speckled bellies always give them away as regular old rat snakes.. Funny story....we had a storm come through our area not too long ago in which our house gutters became clogged and we had to clean them out. Included with all the storm debris that my husband was able to clean out was a six foot rat snake. After that, I officially retired from cleaning gutters around our home and cabin.
Here in Missouri we have lots of black rat snakes. They get really long and love the chicken house, mice and eggs. I don't mind when they come for mice but when eggs disappear, the snake must go. Looked like a black snake to me. Love your channel.

We do an Amish store run twice a month and I've budgeted in $800 for shopping there. My hubs was deployed for 3 solid years and while he was away, I budgeted $1500 per month. I backed off when he got back in 2023 July. We have a rather large farmhouse (over 150 years old) that's 4.5 stories. I don't intend for us to be caught wanting if things go sideways. And things are looking rather hinky of late.
In my neck of the woods in South Alabama them type of black snakes have been known to deter poisonous snakes they will kill them and eat them but they'd rather have mice, frogs and chicken eggs.
I love your dogs I had one that look just like your black and brown one I had him about your 15 years and he passed away 2023 I really miss him he was just like my baby thanks for sharing your videos we us this is my first time watching

He was chasing the rats that invaded us! Those nasty Norway Roof Rats. Twice it showed up. Second time it was GROWN! Trying to catch them is interesting! They climb walls! HA! Surprised me hugely! I wasn't expecting it! But I got it coralled and into a shopping bag. Then scooted him outside! 😅 Second time was like 1 year later. That time it just left on its own. My daughter took its picture, so I know how big it got! We haven't had it return, since no rats at the moment. But they definitely Follow Rat Tunnels!
Rachel - I've lived in Mi my whole life, make many trips to Marquette, MI (UP North) and I've only seen one black bear - from the comfort of my car, crossing US127, Still on the look out for a moose!

That snake was definitely not a pit viper, nor any member of the crotalus or sistrurus family. I don’t know my Michigan snakes very well (Texan here) but definitely that was a non-venomous snake.
I have a great A-1 recipe. The more stuff in it makes it more refined. The big secret ingredients are orange zest, cloves, and raisins. I bought some raisins and ketchup to make some more myself. It’s not urgent because all I can afford of beef is hamburgers. Let me know. Steak sauce is pricey.
A1 Recipe ¾ C Raisins ¼ C Soy Sauce ½ C white Vinegar 2 T Dijon Mustard 2 T Catsup 1 T Franks hot wings sauce (preferred) 1 T finely grated orange peel zest 2 T minced garlic 2T Lemon Juice 1 t smoke sauce 1 t Ginger powder 1/8 t ground Cloves 1 t chili powder Simmer for 5 mins. Pour into blender with lid; puree, simmer another 5 mins.
We see lots of black and brown bears in Northern California they are amazing animals. I'm not scared of them but we have a fairly large population of mountain lions and they can scare the neck out of me. Fun video, cabin life.

Breakfast and lunch are usually super simple. Sausage, Eggs, maybe Oatmeal. And lunch just whatever really, we only go all out on Dinner.

Not Traverse specifically. The entire NW region of the LP is great for fruit. There are so many orchard in Oceana county.
