I really enjoyed the game even when i played it with all four teams because the levels were usally different and have their own unique thing, it was a great game i would say theres nothing wrong with it but those chaos emeralds were just too stupidly difficult to get to properly finish the game
Currently its my favorite Sonic game! Night stages are slow, but can be fun at times. Day stages are *awesome* in my opinion, great level design, doesn't just require boosting, controls are great, and the graphics are awesome for the time it was made!
Actually this game is so praised in Japan, in Japan they requested short levels, and the Japanese fanbase is pretty different from this one, and it is alot better, they take things less negatively, and thank Sonic team and SEGA for everything
No wonder I think this game was awesome & was fine with the several shorter levels. Anime Fan for life! The Japanese are nice people with common sense for the most part, here in the west we're pretty much trolls & haters. Japan is clearly better than the States.
Not just Japan though. Most of Asia love the game. I enjoy (well looking at people play since I don't have the game QwQ) so too and I don't mind the fact that some of the characters are badly written in this game. And the hilarious mods created for the game made me want it even more. Here in Malaysia they say its worth spending 80+ ringgits for the game
To be honest as a Sonic fan I really loved this game, the only sadness is that in my opinion it is too short and some levels are a little bit too easy. I remember the good old times of Sonic Heroes. Also miss Crush 40 : (
Cloudzard Technologies crush 40 really gave sonic a corny personality which is fitting for how he's portrayed in the 3D games as heroes and SA2 a cocky and adventure loving hedgehog
Meh C40 is way to western sounding for my taste. Im happy with the new Jpop/rock direction^^ Its a japanese game after all so it should have japanese sounding music not some cheasy western rock music.
Why is it that when it comes to Sonic games the Fandom's general consensus of what's good and what's bad changes? I remember back when everyone said Adventure 2 was good, but later said it was mediocre. I remember back when everyone said Heroes was complete garbage, but now everyone has warmed up to it. I remember back when everyone said Colors was decent, but now it's just "too much 2D" the game. I remember back when everyone said Unleashed was good, then it was bad, then it was good again, now it's just "ok". I remember back when everyone said Generations was good, now it's a "eh" game. Hell even now, I'm starting to see people look at Sonic Mania (Me included) who look at it as "Too much nostalgia" when before it was the "Best Sonic game in decades". I'd hate to see what Sonic Forces turns out to be in future retrospective in the fans eyes. Will the fans say it's bad now, but good later in the years? And then flip-flop back and forth like Unleashed? I really don't know. :/
Manuel Alberto Romero actually somebody just tells us to like something or not. A single TH-cam video just has to get popular and be well enough worded, no matter how absurd the examples are. That's why people are now complaining about 2D.
palindinX if you say SAB2 was mediocre.... I’m gonna cry for you. When I pop that game into my GameCube... it still has me on the edge of my seat waiting to see if eggman shoots amy. (He doesn’t).
UtherSwagBringer if that was true with only boosting then you wouldn't be able to get through the beginning of lost valley. Or Sunset Heights... Or basically any Sonic level. That's how broken the criticism is. Even more so when the game out right tells you that you suck for not being engaged through the ranking system. Also the speed is a reward is nothing more than a fallacy thanks to the inclusion of the drop dash and spin Dash. And how many times the classic games are willing to stop you from going fast through blocky platforming.
Agreed, good thing Forces has plenty of call backs to it such as Sonic being imprisoned after an encounter with an edgy new rival following Stage 1's completion. A stage where another playable character is infiltrating the prison to free Sonic, Prison Hall/Prison Lane. The game has a Boss Battle against this edgy rival in a jungle not long after this. Arsenal Pyramid counts as a reference, then there's the fact both games have the heroes go to a space station that Eggman uses as his base. Lastly Shadow plays like Sonic & has 2 of his stages play remixes from Adventure 2.
there might be callbacks, but, was i miss more than anything is the gameplay style, yes boost "looks cool and shit" but i liked going fast, just fast, not fucking lightspeed supernova missil fast, just, fast also i miss the more platformy aspects, and hate this new, on the nose homing attack
Too much nostalgia will ruin the classic series. They need to sit down and make a dope ass 3D open world-ish game like some of their best titles. Those being, Unleashed and Colors as well as the older joints SADX and SA2B.
SEGA makes bad games because the fanbase itself doesn't know what it wants. There are too many different things that people want cousing SEGA to attempt to do everything which causes the games to be bad.
@@TheRealJochen It is possible for Sonic Team to please everyone, they just need to stop trying to do it all at once. The fanbase is just tired of bad games, and divided .
Would've been cool if they actually gave Chaos, Shadow, Metal and Zarvok better boss fights. They should've took out classic sonic n replace him with Knuckles or Shadow. Give it more time and develop the story.
Hugo - I think he means saying that the entirety of the game is so bad that it makes Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric a masterpiece. Not that anybody in the universe would say that there's a Sonic game that's worse than Boom.
the gameplay is good but the most common complaint about mania is that theres too much nostalgia and not enough new unique levels that we havent seen before
Team Avatar imagine tirelessly pouring all your hard work into a love letter game to your childhood - a labour of love, a project of passion for years just to make the fans happy, only to have some dude say “it’s not a game”
6:40 you never played shadow’s game ? I mean shadow tries murdering the president and blows up a bomb that kills tons of people. Uses guns and kill soldiers and monsters. And curses.
Seeing Falcon play the first level of the game after seeing Arin Hanson play it on Game Grumps, further proves that Arin doesn't really try to play games well when he's on the show. Just going through the motions really.
TheUnholyOne i would think that most people would realize that by now. Arin isn't there to play the game, he's there to hang out with his buddies (and have some gameplay in the background as noise). They're not your typical gameplay channel. And they've hardly ever tried to be that.
TheUnholyOne Ps: this is why they frequently drop games that are not easy AND don't hold your hand. Breath of the Wild was easy, so it doesn't count in terms of no hand holding
I like the game, but I really wish they had Sonic Boom's writers for witty dialogue. I also would like to see Knuckles have his personality more like the tv show Sonic X instead of Sonic Boom's dumb Knuckles. I am really glad forces didn't make Knuckles dumb; because character-wise throughout the games Knuckles always seemed to be second in command in comparison to Sonic (or a nice rivalry in comparison to Shadow's arrogant and haughty rivalry with Sonic.
hes still dumb in this game lol "i came up with this plan in a minute and a half" and constantly getting bodied by sliver and amy on his dumb statements and ideas
All they need is a Sonic game that will keep the character creation and implement Chao World again. Than maybe a possible multiplayer feature where you can race/battle your Chao with other players online.
sodish the raddish usually 4 to 5 years. But this game was suppose to be after sonic generations but was put on hold due to some story issues....Even though games like Mario and Sonic should stay short and sweet, main baddy is causing trouble with(insert charecter, plot or gimmick/gameplay mechanic here) and it's up to our hero to stop them, that's how it's always been since their debut.
Oo, I didn't know it was supposed to come out after generations. I really did like the story in this game, but the gameplay is just so... eh. (Just an opinion) I think that if they implemented chao garden back again, they would probably make it worse, like rush it so there wouldn't be as many new details.
Because why not I guess...to see what others think of it...I get what you mean lol...I don't own the game yet but I'm hoping I can get it around Christmas
Gaming and Console Tech You can't really throw shade at Sonic Boom though. It's not even a mainline Sonic game. It's an American spin off of the series
Falcon, You basically took the words out of my mouth. I like this game, it’s new and refreshing and its good to have a 3D and 2D sonic game on the current gen consoles. The game is good, but not great, but not bad either. It’s in the middle, and I accept it while others fo not. Thanks for understanding. The 2D stages aren’t really good. Graphics are amazing. Story is good in my book but i think it could have been better but i can accept it for what it is.
To be honest, this is the best review I've heard by far. Most of them go in with this terrible bias of sonic and give it a bad score just because "Modern Sonic bad". But this review went over the good, the bad, and gave recommendations on how to better the series for future games. 10/10 Review talent
Here's the review i did for Sonic forces on Steam. Edit: now that I beat the game, 100% with all achievements, I can give a better review. Sonic Forces in my opinion is the best sonic game since Unleashed. Sonic Generations did have better level design then this game, however Sonic Forces makes up for it by having waaaaay more replayability. The ranking System is heavily improved and some stages are very difficult to get an S rank (Episode Shadow stage 3). There's also red rings, numbered rings, and moon rings. So when it comes to gameplay mechanics, Sonic Forces in my opinion is just slightly worse than Generations. I'll sum up how each characters gameplay styles for those interested. Modern Sonic: In Forces, Modern Sonic is slower however this is a good thing as it allows the player to be able to interact and look at the environment more easily. Modern Sonic has more momentum then previous games, and this makes the 2d sections of modern sonic more fun to play then ever before. However, the 3d sections of modern sonic is worse then Generations or Unleashed. Sonic can't drift so you have to manually turn Sonic. The level design is brought down by this, and thats why modern sonic 3d sections are so linear with different paths to jump to. Classic Sonic: Now IK why people are bashing on classic sonic, and i'm not the largest fan of him either, however I feel Classic Sonic is much better in Forces then Generations. I think people are saying his physics is worse then generations just because they got done playing Sonic Mania. In Sonic Forces, Classic Sonic has way more momentum. (only when your in a ball though which is bad. ) The drop dash is alot of fun and allows you to use skill to go through the levels faster. Also the level design is good with classic sonic stages. Classic Sonic is better than what he was in Generations, also Sega please don't bring back classic sonic in modern games anymore. Avatar: is basically a slower version of sonic that can't boost, but can use wisp powerups. The levels were more open then Modern Sonic, and i found it to be surprisenly fun to play as. It has alot of costumes but could use more body editing. (Sega don't bring back ocs though its fine as a one time thing). Now Let's get to the Story. Hands down this goes to Sonic Forces. There is alot of cliche friendship moments, however the characters do feel like themselves in the story so it makes it pretty interesting to watch. The ending is a little lackluster but ok. This is a good stepping stone, but Sega needs a slower paced and more thought out Story next game. Story is about 6/10 for me, infinite is great though. Sonic Forces also has the best graphics in any sonic game (2017 life). The music is also great and really can get you immersed in the game. This game took 27 hours to 100% compared to 100%ing Generations in about 5 hours. If You care about replayability, tone, and being immersed in a Sonic Game. This is definitely for you. If sega put more love into this game, with an epic ending, longer main campaign, and better level design. This game could have been a 9/10 Sonic game, however for the 4 years of work that Sega put into this game I would give it a 7/10. Overall, mediocre gameplay, good graphics, fantastic replayability, short campaign, an ok story not put to the best use, great music, good tone, characters acting like themselves(besides tails). Sonic Forces gets a 7/10.
Remember kids: Writing a lot does not make your review quality. This was so flip-floppy. "It's the best Sonic game! It's a little worse than Generations! 7/10." "Modern Sonic moves slower, but that is good. Also Modern Sonic has more momentum. The story hands down goes to Sonic Forces. 6/10. It's so immersive!" Guy, which is it? Is it the best, or just under? Is Sonic faster, or slower? Do you love the story or is it only okay? HOW is the game immersive? This isn't a review it's a roughly drafted gush of mismatched and lackluster thoughts. I'm not advocating that Forces is bad, I'll probably get it after it's price inevitably drops, but your "review" needs work.
I said the gameplay was slightly below generations, and the overall package is slightly above generations. There is more to a game then just it's gameplay. There is alot of things you quoted me on that was out of context. lol i nowhere near said this is the best sonic game ever. Yes i did give this a game a 7/10 and said it was better than generations. This does not contradict myself, this just means i think generations is lower than a 7/10. Generations has a bad story, hardly any replayabilty, and is about a 5 hour game (including unlockables). I said Forces was the best game since unleashed as a whole package. tone, story, music, replayabilty and gameplay. I never flipped. I basically say gameplay goes to generations, other scores goes to forces. If you only play games for gameplay go with generations, otherwise forces is the best game since unleashed. also just because i state how there is improvements like sonic has more momentum and is slower, DOES NOT MEAN, that there are also steps backwards. Like how i stated the 3d sections are worse, basically because sonic has less moves then previous games, like the drift, walljumping, and the level design. There is improvements made in forces, but overall its a step backwards in the gameplay mechanics. Although I think classic sonic is just more fun overall to play in this game, compared to generations. (but classic sonic shouldn't even have been in Forces in the first place though)
Not really honestly or at least not as much as cheat codes. They make the game easier, but they are specifically made (normally) to not make the game too much so. That way people buy more micro transactions. Cheat codes straight up broke the game. I remember with spyro dawn of the dragon you could get unlimited everything, invincibility, and all the armor. I miss those days. Also I miss spyro. How long till it gets remastered?
Im coming back to this review 4 years later and holy shit that first minute.... Sonic Forces being the second best 3D Sonic game of all time??? Colors, a game that can't even stay in 3D for more than 5 seconds is the BEST 3D Sonic game???
..I'd probably rate (the boost games 1.Sonic Unleashed 2.Sonic Generations 3.Sonic Forces 4.Sonic colors ... honestly just want an Unleashed 2 , going across the world with open levels, great music.. idk, anyone with me? Plus Unleashed felt more.. 3D? Longer 3D segments at least
+Cirrusfire Nah, I definitely find colors better than forces(despite me not liking it). Colors at least had creativity and music. Forces, while it did have some good tracks was just a lackluster and underwhelming ride.
Miss Kobe Yoshi what you getting at bro? FF XV took like a decade to get made and it was still pretty good. Was it ten years good? Probably not but the wait didn't affect my opinion of the game.
I agree with what falcon has said I also notice he didn't mention the short stages but it's not exactly a bad thing, as falcon said you earn rewards after finishing a stage you also get rewards for completing missions that get updated daily and for those who want to grind up for those outfits and wipson varients those short stages make sense. Sonic team wanted us to replay the levels constantly and keeping them short made them less tidious and demanding
Renan Santos yeah it’s fairly good and that’s great. People shouldn’t expect modern Sonic to be completely amazing in all factors. Unless it’s Sonic Mania
6/10 for me. I think they are starting to finally perfect the boost formula. Modern sonic handles pretty good, but not amazing and could be better. Classic sonic sucked. He controlled terrible. The momentum was trash and I really didn't want a 2D sonic after I just played through mania for the fourth time. The character creator was kinda dumb, but me and my little brother had so much dumb fun creating the character and seeing him in the serious story. Speaking of which... The story was alright. I really don't want a serious story from sonic. Sonic is supposed to represent happiness and when I was told he was getting tortured I just felt bad and didn't really want to continue in the game. I also didn't really like the art style. It was kinda weird to me idk. Idk it just felt off for me. Can't really explain this. This was also a kinda fun game. Mediocre in general. I think that's what plagues the sonic franchise. Not being bad, but not blowing away my expectations like my two other favorite franchises new releases, Breath of the Wild, and Super Mario Odyssey
The game is about having fun. I had the time of my life playing it. I like sonic for who he "IS" not for who he "WAS". I loved sonic forces.... Come at me. True fans always support the franchise. In this case we need to stand by Sega and provide them with ideas the we the fans like. Dont blame the game cuz in the end its about having fun and sonic forces nails it. Note when I mean support it means stand by their side and help Sega make better games that the fan base wants not support it for its flaws
Dark In The Light is that an argument? A LOT of people who liked previous sonic games liked this one too. Its like saying that Pijamas suck because a lot of people dont wear them.
Jaeger Bombastic you do realise that the whole point of the "unleashed" part was because it was sonic "Unleashing" his inner darkness/the beast within so there can't really be a sonic unleashed 2 without the weren't or some equivalent.
I really enjoy Forces But I *DESPISE* the Classic Sonic levels. I mean, don't even get me started on Iron Fortress. And this is from a guy who loves Mania. Just leave Classic Sonic to older style games, and give us only Modern Sonic with more Unleashed (Day), Colour and Generations style levels/gameplay. And please. Don't make levels so linear and automated Also, I like the avatar, but I think the gameplay needs to be tweaked a bit.
Don't Just use Modern Sonic, because I also want to play as Shadow, Blaze, Custom Hero, etc. Modern had some fun stages in Forces oh & the tagteam stages were also fun.
To this day, claiming that this game is better than Generations because it lacks nostalgia is one of the most contradictory and braindead takes I've ever seen a TH-camr say when it comes to Sonic.
Touch ups on Sonic Unleashed's level design better ingame physics (like more running styles)(turning)(sliding) A plot not associated with 12 year old cubes(edgey shits) ..... or furries(no offense) Chao garden More playable characters UNlockable costumes that require/cost more than casual expectancy( ALOT ) better music innovative ideas when it comes to running attacking dodging (Nothing like Sonic Boom shit please) recordable cutscenese (cause people have capture cards and don't need to give a fuck about censored cutscenes.) Enemies that are pointless A little more challenge Touch ups on the background
Just blame Generations for stealing the thunder of a Perfect Chaos boss fight. That boss would have made much more sense here than in Gens anyway, especially with Double Boost & the grappling wire to stay airborne. Would have been cool if Perfect Chaos was summoned between Null Space & Imperial Tower to cover Eggman's retreat. Metropolis for a battle ground against PC would have been awesome, same for a Jungle Fight against him.
@@WaterKirby1994 also, why tf does tails not do anything like, he fought and i think defeated CHAOS 4 and he was scared of Chaos 0. (he was scared in Sonic Forces incase you didn’t know.)
@@Link-so9fd Just Sonic Mentality ruined everything & reduced Tails to easily scared tech support. The sheer overreliance on Sonic essentially brought about the worst decade for the series. Sonic became an annoying parody of himself who hogged the spotlight to himself at the cost of almost everyone who appeared during the 2010s. I think only Cream & Blaze survived.
To call modern sonic stages in this game good is the worst thing you said in this entire video. The level design is pretty bad, while it has WAY more 3D than Colors, which is a good thing, they really messed up the 3D segments by punishing you for going fast in a game about going fast. Plus you can skip huge portions of the 3D segments. All you have to do is jump and boost while standing at the top of a slope.
Coming from the switch edition, I find the game actually enjoyable after you get used to the controls of characters. I do agree on classic sonic. If anything those stages could have easily been done for modern sonic or the avatar as secret stages and used his side of the story for a second avatar character honestly.
Thanks Falcon for the honest analysis. I helped a lot in my decision to make a purchase here (Which is what a BYB should be for). I think I'm going to hold off and get caught up on my existing library, but might pick this up in the future.
I dislike that every recent 3d sonic game has been on rails, i know the old 2d sonic games had limited ability to move around but even in those old originals there were still secrets in the stages and areas to explore, they should make another sonic adventure already.
Yea and ruin the overrated status of it people are gonna bitch and complain anyway heard of red rings btw? Heard of alternate paths generations sometimes colors have you played any recent sonic game?
The game suffers from the lack of ambition Classic Sonic was added in for marketing purposes because SEGA were afraid that many people wouldn't buy this game. I'm enjoying Forces but in future SEGA need to just remain with Modern Sonic and OC characters because thats what keeps me coming back to the game including the graphics and music.
Custom Hero was great & should return, same for Shadow, wouldn't mind other playable characters like Knuckles, Blaze, or even Tails shooting stages again. Also you guys know OC could mean Official Character quite easily, that's why you should call them Fan Characters.
It’s good to see that someone is pointing out the best parts of Forces. I’ve been thinking of getting it on Steam but I wanted to see someone else’s view on it! Thanks! Now I know it’s a good choice!
On the topic of favorite games in the sonic series my top 3 favorites are: 1. Sonic Adventure 2 2. Sonic Heroes 3. Sonic Adventure This is based on nostalgia for most of my decisions and I also have A LOT of games to catch up on with the series but I replayed the Sonic Adventure games when they got re-released and I loved it I wish they'd release Heroes on more modern systems outside of the U.K. or have a collection of remastered Sonic games from the GameCube and Wii era or something like that
CheatwoodPlaysGames Lol the awkward voice acting can be charming. I think the re-release let you play it in original Japanese which I did for part of it, but that felt wrong because of the memories. They really had it good for the 3D Sonic games with the Adventure series and Heroes. They just lost it.
I don't care what ANYONE says, Sonic unleashed was awesome, sure the warehog levels were long and sometimes a bit much but it was different and I liked it I didn't love it but I enjoyed it none the less with that being said the day time stages were AMAZING
I got the game for my switch yesterday and beat the game tonight. I don’t think it was a bad game but I can’t say that I enjoyed it that much. There were to many times that I kept dying because of poor level design and a bad physics engine. If it weren’t for those two things I would probably have enjoyed the game more. Also the cutscenes were a little annoying, but the story overall was better than many other sonic games.
Yikes, this didn’t age well, everyone hates Forces now, understandably. Colours is a bit better, but that’s not saying much, I’d rather play literally any other 3D sonic game, except 06 cause I don’t own it. Mania is best Sonic game though, even if I’m biased for Unleashed.
I'm thinking of getting Sonic Forces on my Switch since it is actually $9.99 right now, and I think this review has probably got me to get both this one and Sonic Mania. Both are actually on sale, and I'd say get both for some fun chaos.
I fully agree with everything EXCEPT Classic Sonic. I love 2d side scrolling, I think they nailed it and i wish they added more. I also didn't like the character customization. I thought it was forced.
in my opinion, the game is "frustratingly" average. there is so much we wanted from this game and so many great opportunities that we'll probably never see again in a sonic game. 1. avatar. creating your own avatar was something I really loved. I could've got lost in it for quite a while and the amount of variety was amazing. 2. Infinite. Infinite is my favourite villain across ALL sonic games. the concept and just the design of him is absolutely amazing. but his backstory? Trash. Shadow beats him, calls him worthless and that somehow gets to Infinite so easily. then he yells IM NOT WEAK. like bruh. it's so lazy and un-inspired. Infinite deserved way better what did forces do well: 1. the music: the music is stellar. ranging in variety from many genres. there are a few songs I wanted to play on repeat until I got sick of them. 2. Boss Fights: Boss fights are done pretty well. they're all unique (except Infinite 3 and Metal Sonic) and each boss has their own flare 3. lastly, the game looks beautiful.... that is all have a nice day.... :)
The game is currently downloading on my switch and I'm excited. Most complaints people have brought up sound like nitpicks or things that won't personally bother me.
It was until Ken Penders had Sega "throw it into the Twilight Cage", they say if he dies, the game can become canon again. Also it was good, we need to convince the Overmind of the Sonic Fanbase to see to it that Penders becomes fearful for his life. Then he'll be more likely to give us back what he stole.
"he was ready to hate the game, he was tired of nostalgia evon though green hill and chemical plant made more appearances in Forces then in Mania, he says that the modern sonic level design isn't the best, it doesn't come to the high points of Sonic Colours, he thinks the game would be better of without Classic Sonic" *Puts it above Sonic Generations and Sonic Unleashed and above SA2 because it is the second best 3d Sonic game* With all joking aside, here is my short review The plot isn't amazing, it has interesting points but still it isn't an award winning story. In terms of gameplay modern Sonic is very limited:he has no drift, no air dash, no short jump and while it's still fun to boost, it just feels off compared to Unleashed, Generations and Colours. Modern Sonic levels start off being very linear but later on they become much more open, Network Terminal is a good example for an open-level stage. The stages are short tho Ther are a lot of customization options for your avatar. The level design is built around the different Wispons (Park Avenue, Guardian Rock and Imperial Tower have extremely good level design for the special abilities of the Wispons). The stages are longer then modern Sonic stages. Altough Drill wispon is beyond OP The physics for classic Sonic just feel wrong, for any character really but it is really wrong for classic Sonic, the level design is actually a mix of Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 level design (it is heavily platform based like sonic 1 but features level design for sonic 2's spindash) The tag team stages, wich there aren't many of, are actually pretty good. As you can expect it is a mix between modern Sonic and your avatar level design. So just imagine the fun straight forward boost gameplay mixed with the Wispon ability level design and you will get Arsenal Pyramid and Null Space, two of my favorite levels in Forces which combine the good aspects of Modern Sonic and the Avatar. Episode shadow dlc is short and I feel like Sonic Team forgot to make a backstory for Infinite and just put it in here with shadow playable (he just plays like Modern Sonic) just to bait fans. It is also free Super sonic dlc used to need you to pay for it but now it isn't, go get it it's free. Sanic t-shirts dlc is free and fricking lit because it's Sanic, why the heck will you not get it.
I played it, I finished it...! That said: I am very statisfied with it. And alone for the daylie missions that are a nice implementation I will come back...! For that and because the stages are great - but yeah...classic sonic felt...'mweh'...in air he can stop at instant...which makes it not feel intuitive...but somewhat makesup for his "I have no ground-pound"-mechanic. My most favourite stage is pretty much Stage 16. In terms of Asthetic, visuals and all...just a very great stage. I hope they do let the antagonist come back again someday.
2 things I HATED 1. 2D Sonic was just there for nostalgia and I hated his levels. Why did we need him anyway? We got a 2D game before this. 2. Some of the levels were too short. I was really hyped to play Aqua Road because of the song for it but it was over before I got to get hyped. Also classic Sonic's music was horrible imo. 2 things I loved 1. They perfected the boost formula and the Sonic levels were amazing. 2. I absolutely loved the avatar stages and customizations. It added replay value at least for me.
I HAVE to stop right there. This is BY FAR the worst boost game we've had. Most of the game is fucking auto pilot and the Boost essentially let's you fly. You can hold the Boost button and you'll almost always beat the level
@@expertav5333 it's hot trash man. The controls are clunky, for the first and only 3D Sonic on current consoles the graphics look bad, animations, level design. All bad.
It is a good game the controls are easy to learn and everything in the game is fabulous! The only thing I don't like they don't notify you when to go to 2d mode and stuff. Customization is very nice you can even choose your own clothing and not always having basic sonic! So I must say this game is great.
Hold on. Preferring Forces over Generations is one thing, but your reasoning makes no sense. You complained about Generations relying on nostalgia, yet you praise Forces, even though it did the exact same thing? At least with Generations, the nostalgia made sense, as it was a celebration of the series' history, and it was a relatively fresh concept at the time. Forces was clearly made to ride the coattails of Generations' success, because besides the Avatar and more serious storytelling, the game doesn't do anything special on its own.
SEGA, now that you have the magic formulas down, could you please bring back the chao gardens? please? and also maybe make little portable keychain-game-tomogachi/mobile-app, things that you can transfer the chao to, to raise them while you commute through your daily routine?
Sonic Unleashed showed exactly how modern Sonic stages are supposed to be made in my opinion. They should've ditched classic Sonic entirely for Forces, he's useless and already got his time to shine in Mania. If the only playstyles were modern and avatar with more varied areas, this game could've been something. But it's not. And that saddens me.
Honestly this game, isn't even that bad. It's an OK game but not a bad game. I'll give it a 6+\10. The graphics a really good giving u 1080p60fps for xbox, pc, & PlayStation. The custom character is VERY good for a first try. Although the platforming isn't that good. The music for sonic is decent. Classic Sonic has horrible music. Custom Character has great music. Sonic's jump just feels way too heavy and makes it so difficult sometime to platform. the level design is alright. But the main problem is just that the game is too short, too serious, misleading, levels end off when their just about to get exciting ( i'm mean bruh i beat mortar canyon in under a minute ) overrall i do see myself playing this game but not alot.
I bought the game and I actually enjoyed it.. I don’t really see anything wrong with sonic forces, like, yeah, it’s not the best sonic game of all time, and there are some things that are a bit off, like the level design, but other than that, it’s a great game. I don’t know, it’s my opinion, maybe it’s just me, if you don’t like the, it’s fine.
Important notion about classic Sonic: You can change the movement controls from analogue to d-pad in the options menu and that makes controlling classic Sonic MUCH smoother!
Love this game! I would have liked a Chaos and/or Shadow boss fight, but I fought infinite multiple times and the Shadow cut scene made up for no Shadow boss.
I liked this game, I agree classic sonic shouldn’t have been in it though, but modern sonic and even the avatar I enjoyed. I’d like to see the avatar make a return in future games.
Bought it, beaten it, had neutral feelings for most of the classic stages, liked the modern and avatar stages, loved the graphics and music, loved the avatar customizations, and I kinda agree that Classic Sonic wasn't necessary. Overall, I thought Sonic Forces was okay.
A game with 30 Stages that don't even last 2 minutes for speedruns, linear Level design is good? They didn't ruined totally the game, but at least i could say it's decent. It's not like it is Sonic 06 part 2. But it's obvious that Sonic Team didn't make a good job.
I'm gonna be honest, forces being better than Generations is objectively not true. Here are my reasons why: Generations modern gameplay requires you to think and react while in forces it is on autopilot for most of the journey. Classic sonic just controls much better and he doesn't feel like a 50 ton weight. The story overall is just more complete and the characters feel like themselves. I know the story in Generations gets a lot of flak, but at least it was a STORY! Also I didn't find your reason valid since forces relies on nostalgia. It's to the point where I think it hindered it. I know this was two years ago, but these are my personal opinions.
I may be in the minority here but I liked Sonic Heroes
golf clap*
I loved it
Sonic Heroes was fine but playing the same stages with each of the four teams ain’t fun.
Anthony Iuculano the intro is my joined favourite song along with the colours intro
I really enjoyed the game even when i played it with all four teams because the levels were usally different and have their own unique thing, it was a great game i would say theres nothing wrong with it but those chaos emeralds were just too stupidly difficult to get to properly finish the game
I liked sonic unleashed, it was so unique to me.
obee unique=god of war rip off half the time
Diego Lopez um...ok...
obee best Boost game
Currently its my favorite Sonic game!
Night stages are slow, but can be fun at times.
Day stages are *awesome* in my opinion, great level design, doesn't just require boosting, controls are great, and the graphics are awesome for the time it was made!
obee THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
Someone who appreciates the game.
Sonic Forces was made in Japan and sonic mania was made by someone else who knew what sonic fans did like
Not just Japan though.
I liked it personally, not the best, but is cool, it is worth buying
meedogh exactly
To be honest as a Sonic fan I really loved this game, the only sadness is that in my opinion it is too short and some levels are a little bit too easy. I remember the good old times of Sonic Heroes. Also miss Crush 40 : (
I agree. Well i dont miss C40. Im glad theyre gone. Love the Music in Forces^^
Even if the group in Sonic Forces sings nice, those lyrics needed more rythym, with Crush 40 the lyrics were always beautiful.
Well, according to one of the comments of this video, the Japanese Sonic fanbase apparently preferred to have shorter levels.
Who's here because of PS Plus?

And still sad because of ps plus services choice.... cmon guys, you can do better
That thumbnail had me dying
That face made me laugh, so says why even bother with this.
haha perfect representation of ho awful this game was
TheBlackItalianGamer it kinda reminds me of Garfield
Miss Kobe Yoshi it wasnt awful, it was a good game, not a game that u say: wow, epic game! No, it isnt, but its not bad at all, its pretty fun to play
TheBlackItalianGamer I love it. :D
None of this is good

Simple...our tastes change constantly with every passing year.
UtherSwagBringer "Sonic games are always hold forward to win"
Have we forgotten when people said this was a "legitimate" criticism?
UtherSwagBringer if that was true with only boosting then you wouldn't be able to get through the beginning of lost valley. Or Sunset Heights... Or basically any Sonic level.
That's how broken the criticism is. Even more so when the game out right tells you that you suck for not being engaged through the ranking system.
Also the speed is a reward is nothing more than a fallacy thanks to the inclusion of the drop dash and spin Dash. And how many times the classic games are willing to stop you from going fast through blocky platforming.
Best sonic game? Sonic adventure 2 Battle
Kauris Azurai sonic rush imo
Nah Sonic 3 Knuckles but if you are referring 3d sonic game then you are correct
there might be callbacks, but, was i miss more than anything is the gameplay style, yes boost "looks cool and shit" but i liked going fast, just fast, not fucking lightspeed supernova missil fast, just, fast also i miss the more platformy aspects, and hate this new, on the nose homing attack
Kauris Azurai IMO sa1
Too much nostalgia will ruin the classic series. They need to sit down and make a dope ass 3D open world-ish game like some of their best titles. Those being, Unleashed and Colors as well as the older joints SADX and SA2B.
SEGA makes bad games because the fanbase itself doesn't know what it wants. There are too many different things that people want cousing SEGA to attempt to do everything which causes the games to be bad.
@@TheRealJochen It is possible for Sonic Team to please everyone, they just need to stop trying to do it all at once. The fanbase is just tired of bad games, and divided .
Sonic frontiers is here and it's good
This is a pretty fair review actually.
Ben Pulham it is....
Would've been cool if they actually gave Chaos, Shadow, Metal and Zarvok better boss fights. They should've took out classic sonic n replace him with Knuckles or Shadow. Give it more time and develop the story.
theamazingmaymay123 they should've made Boss Fights for Shadow and Chaos at least.
Or you know just sonic
Thank you for not being Biased.
Wiillkill he is very very biased
Wiillkill so anyone who is negative about this game is biased?
Hugo - I think he means saying that the entirety of the game is so bad that it makes Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric a masterpiece.
Not that anybody in the universe would say that there's a Sonic game that's worse than Boom.
Wiillkill
Everyone is biased
@@thecrazedpotatoman sonic 06
"I'm tired of nostalgia."
Sonic Mania is the greatest sonic game 🤦♂️
That's less nostalgia and more just a good game. Sonic Mania was a passion project, this game is a slopped together mess by the Sega B-Team
No It's not
the gameplay is good but the most common complaint about mania is that theres too much nostalgia and not enough new unique levels that we havent seen before
Mania isn't a game it's just the old games mashed
Team Avatar imagine tirelessly pouring all your hard work into a love letter game to your childhood - a labour of love, a project of passion for years just to make the fans happy, only to have some dude say “it’s not a game”
Sonic Generations was supposed to be a nostalgia trip
6:40 you never played shadow’s game ? I mean shadow tries murdering the president and blows up a bomb that kills tons of people. Uses guns and kill soldiers and monsters. And curses.
🤣 You say that so literally
Seeing Falcon play the first level of the game after seeing Arin Hanson play it on Game Grumps, further proves that Arin doesn't really try to play games well when he's on the show. Just going through the motions really.
TheUnholyOne
i would think that most people would realize that by now. Arin isn't there to play the game, he's there to hang out with his buddies (and have some gameplay in the background as noise).
They're not your typical gameplay channel. And they've hardly ever tried to be that.
TheUnholyOne
Ps: this is why they frequently drop games that are not easy AND don't hold your hand.
Breath of the Wild was easy, so it doesn't count in terms of no hand holding
In addition to what was said by Angelo, they never said they were good at the games they played. So you can't really blame them for being bad.
Yet there they are, blaming whatever they play for the mistakes.
yeah it was pretty annoying to watch him, he never hits the boost button ever and it drives me insane.
It good to know he back being second in command.
hes still dumb in this game lol
"i came up with this plan in a minute and a half" and constantly getting bodied by sliver and amy on his dumb statements and ideas
All they need is a Sonic game that will keep the character creation and implement Chao World again. Than maybe a possible multiplayer feature where you can race/battle your Chao with other players online.
do you even realize how much time consuming that´s going to be??
yea, that's how you make a good game. ya spend time on it
sodish the raddish agreed my boi knows what's goin on
sodish the raddish usually 4 to 5 years.
Why am I watching this if I already bought it
Mate Mate Why am I watching this if I already know I don't want to buy it?
Because why not I guess...to see what others think of it...I get what you mean lol...I don't own the game yet but I'm hoping I can get it around Christmas
I feel sorry for you. Amen.
I paid with a credit card, best way to return crap without any hassle
Nota Robot 😂
I played it and actually liked it don't get me wrong it's not a perfect game but still very enjoyable
J mayo agreed
I loved it to. Who ever is slaughtering this game obviously have never played sonic boom or sonic 06.... they were bad I agree.
Gaming and Console Tech You can't really throw shade at Sonic Boom though. It's not even a mainline Sonic game. It's an American spin off of the series
The avatar is adorable.
Gaming and Console Tech But those games were complete irredeemable garbage. This game is bad too just not as bad.
Falcon,
You basically took the words out of my mouth.
Story is good in my book but i think it could have been better but i can accept it for what it is.
you're welcome.
To be honest, this is the best review I've heard by far. Most of them go in with this terrible bias of sonic and give it a bad score just because "Modern Sonic bad". But this review went over the good, the bad, and gave recommendations on how to better the series for future games. 10/10 Review talent
"I'm tired of nostalgia. When I pop in a Sonic game I want it to be new", he said as footage of Green Hill Zone played in the background.
Finally a fair review!
RGT 85 did a good review of it
Here's the review i did for Sonic forces on Steam.
6/10. It's so immersive!"
Guy, which is it?
Ryguy cool Its fair enough
Big Zam He’s a commenter, not IGN or Gamespot.
Modern Sonic: don't worry Tails, i am sure we are going to run into classic Sonic again.
P.S. this not the actual quote but just the meaning of it
cheat codes still exist in 2017...
and they're called, microtransactions
Yea and the code is your credit card number
microtransaction? just one?
Gregory Ed there, I fixed it
Not really honestly or at least not as much as cheat codes.
Your Lord and Savior - Balrog I hope it gets remastered soon
Im coming back to this review 4 years later and holy shit that first minute.... Sonic Forces being the second best 3D Sonic game of all time??? Colors, a game that can't even stay in 3D for more than 5 seconds is the BEST 3D Sonic game???
If you thought the SatAM series was dark you should see the comics.
..I'd probably rate (the boost games
1.Sonic Unleashed
2.Sonic Generations
3.Sonic Forces
4.Sonic colors
... honestly just want an Unleashed 2 , going across the world with open levels, great music.. idk, anyone with me? Plus Unleashed felt more.. 3D? Longer 3D segments at least
+Cirrusfire Nah, I definitely find colors better than forces(despite me not liking it).
Colors at least had creativity and music.
Forces, while it did have some good tracks was just a lackluster and underwhelming ride.
All of them are good but ill rate
Colors
Unleashed
Generations
Forces
Unleashed levels were fun as hell
Unleashed level is fun I just hope there more balanced between Day and Night stages but surprisingly,I enjoy Night stage.
Cirrusfire I actually really liked Sonic Unleashed
Unleashed isn't fun for me, the werhog and medals ruined it for me
Sonic Forces was in development for 4 years i'm gonna let that sink in
Miss Kobe Yoshi Wow that makes it so much worse, I just assumed this was done in a few months.
Miss Kobe Yoshi what you getting at bro? FF XV took like a decade to get made and it was still pretty good. Was it ten years good? Probably not but the wait didn't affect my opinion of the game.
proof and i'll agree
mike the gamerguy24 Sega stated that they did spend 4 years on this game. You can look it up.
And you can beat it in 4 hours
Is that a death star???
NET Alliance - Star Wars Fun Nope it's the Death Egg #4.
Well it's no moon!!!
Olli Konttinen It's nothing new though. The Death Egg was in Sonic 2.
Turo 602 *and sonic 3
**and Sonic 4
What's everyone's opinion on the Shadow the Hedgehog game? I fuckin love that one.
dontedoestuff same, I thought the game was amazing with gun physics and level design
Did anyone else notice the screen seizure at 8:01
I also agree that classic sonic shouldn't have been in this game
Jaceb Gardner true, but the some of the soundtracks are good👌
Sonic Forces is a decent game, it's not terrible but it's not amazing too lol.
I would gave a 6.75 to 7, still pretty enjoyable :)
9/10 for me
6/10
Do people understand that a 4 to a 6 is average? Like, 7 to 9 are the upper echelons, 10 is perfect. 1 - 3 is poor. It's okay to be honest
Duck Head You can't tell me "Come at me" with a username like mine...
Duck Head What's so fun about a game where all you have to do is hold down the boost button and occasionally jump?
LukeMM95 The part where that doesn't work passed the tutorial?
Dark In The Light if true fans like it and people who wouldnt buy it anyways hate it, the why would Sonic Team fix what isn't broken?
Dark In The Light is that an argument? A LOT of people who liked previous sonic games liked this one too. Its like saying that Pijamas suck because a lot of people dont wear them.
"No microtransactions"
Super Sonic and Shadow OC would like to have a word with you.
He said no loot boxes
But super sonic is free? At least it is now...
And both are free
Why do people ignore Sonic Adventure?
Delete Scare because it’s unfair. Sonic Adventure series>>>>>>all other sonic games
I want a third game of this. They jacked up sonic
I was just gonna say the same thing
Sonic adventure 1 8/10 sonic adventure 2 9/10 sonic adventure 3......
The Sonic Adventure games are the only 3D Sonics
Graphically the game looks like a higher resolution model of sonic Colors, Unleashed tho looks amazing especially for a game that came out 9 years ago
Smexy Unleashed, in my opinion, is still the best looking Sonic game. It looks like a PS4 game.
Smexy highly agree. Unleashed also had one of the best modern sonic stories
REKTEDMLG 1 We need unleashed 2 without a werehog tho
You just play on console or something maybe thats why you see bad graphics.
Jaeger Bombastic you do realise that the whole point of the "unleashed" part was because it was sonic "Unleashing" his inner darkness/the beast within so there can't really be a sonic unleashed 2 without the weren't or some equivalent.
I really enjoy Forces
But I *DESPISE* the Classic Sonic levels. I mean, don't even get me started on Iron Fortress. And this is from a guy who loves Mania.
Just leave Classic Sonic to older style games, and give us only Modern Sonic with more Unleashed (Day), Colour and Generations style levels/gameplay. And please. Don't make levels so linear and automated
Also, I like the avatar, but I think the gameplay needs to be tweaked a bit.
Corigate agreed....
That is if they use the Avatar again.
He put it above Unleashed, Gens, Both Adventure Games, Heroes, etc.
I'm curious as to what people want in a sonic game to be honest, If someone could explain it to me it'd be very much appreciated.
Honestly, I don’t know anymore
Hey! Look at me! Look at me! and what would make a sonic game good?
Loot boxes tbh.
They’ve had so many different styles nobody knows anymore lol
Touch ups on Sonic Unleashed's level design
better ingame physics (like more running styles)(turning)(sliding)
A plot not associated with 12 year old cubes(edgey shits) ..... or furries(no offense)
Chao garden
More playable characters
UNlockable costumes that require/cost more than casual expectancy( ALOT )
better music
innovative ideas when it comes to running attacking dodging (Nothing like Sonic Boom shit please)
recordable cutscenese (cause people have capture cards and don't need to give a fuck about censored cutscenes.)
Enemies that are pointless
A little more challenge
Touch ups on the background
The most disappointing thing for me was that Chaos was defeated in a cutscene instead of having an actual boss fight for him
Just blame Generations for stealing the thunder of a Perfect Chaos boss fight.
I know right
@@WaterKirby1994 also, why tf does tails not do anything like, he fought and i think defeated CHAOS 4 and he was scared of Chaos 0.
Cresso The Grey being more 3D isn’t saying much cause you just run in a straight line 90% of the time, what it needed to be was actually good
Coming from the switch edition, I find the game actually enjoyable after you get used to the controls of characters. I do agree on classic sonic. If anything those stages could have easily been done for modern sonic or the avatar as secret stages and used his side of the story for a second avatar character honestly.
"Sonic Forces has the darkest story in the Sonic history"
Shadow The Hedgedog: Are you sure about that?
"Shadow it's you, Zavok, Metal, Chaos"
"Psycho Mantis"
"You're that ninja!"
Oh,that dunkey reference,loved it
”zavok, metal, chaos, JOHN CENA!?”
Knack 2 BABEEEEE!!!
Thanks Falcon for the honest analysis. I helped a lot in my decision to make a purchase here (Which is what a BYB should be for). I think I'm going to hold off and get caught up on my existing library, but might pick this up in the future.
So your telling me forces is better than generations, unleashed, lost world, heroes, and sonic adventure 1 and 2? Nah nah nah
"I'm tired of nostalgia."
Ya, sure. That's totally why you rated Mania so high.
Sonic Mania is just really fun
Grand Priest the nostalgia isn’t what makes sonic mania good. It’s gameplay dose.
Infinite Octopaw yeah
I dislike that every recent 3d sonic game has been on rails, i know the old 2d sonic games had limited ability to move around but even in those old originals there were still secrets in the stages and areas to explore, they should make another sonic adventure already.
Probably never gonna happen.
I'm enjoying Forces but in future SEGA need to just remain with Modern Sonic and OC characters because thats what keeps me coming back to the game including the graphics and music.
the whole "make your own sonic character" kinds overshadows classic sonic's appearance in the game in my opinion.
I personally think the OC was the only character getting attention in the game. All I remember about Sonic is that he got captured.
Not to mention Classic Sonic has only 6 stages un the whole game.
Custom Hero was great & should return, same for Shadow, wouldn't mind other playable characters like Knuckles, Blaze, or even Tails shooting stages again. Also you guys know OC could mean Official Character quite easily, that's why you should call them Fan Characters.
sonic unleashed and sonic mania are the best
Zombie terminator especially the wii version
...............sure
Jenthedruid yeah man. Unleashed is WAY better than people say
Zombie terminator colors is the best
Jenthedruid Try and play It, it's a Blast from start to finish
“I didn’t like generations because I’m tired of nostalgia “
Sonic forces
-9 green hill stages
-chemical plant
-chaos
-2D sections
It’s good to see that someone is pointing out the best parts of Forces. I’ve been thinking of getting it on Steam but I wanted to see someone else’s view on it! Thanks! Now I know it’s a good choice!
On the topic of favorite games in the sonic series my top 3 favorites are:
1. Sonic Adventure 2
2. Sonic Heroes
3. Sonic Adventure
This is based on nostalgia for most of my decisions and I also have A LOT of games to catch up on with the series but I replayed the Sonic Adventure games when they got re-released and I loved it I wish they'd release Heroes on more modern systems outside of the U.K. or have a collection of remastered Sonic games from the GameCube and Wii era or something like that
Paddy 2890 well you’re right that Sonic 2 is No.1
CheatwoodPlaysGames
It was just an awesome game for the time. It's a classic.
Paddy 2890 I know, also Sonic Adventure 1 was a great game... despite the hilariously horrible voice acting
CheatwoodPlaysGames
Lol the awkward voice acting can be charming. I think the re-release let you play it in original Japanese which I did for part of it, but that felt wrong because of the memories. They really had it good for the 3D Sonic games with the Adventure series and Heroes. They just lost it.
I would have my top3 as
S3&K
Sonic Battle
Anything not 06
“I’m tired of nostalgia” shows Forces with Green Hill Zone and Chemical Plant
a modern sonic game without nostalgia?
SONIC UNLEASHED
Rouge-ish you forgot 2d cringy Mcnosehair
Honestly if people don't like Unleashed they're wrong
Rouge-ish sorry dude, it still has BS mechanics that slow the game down significantly.
I don't care what ANYONE says, Sonic unleashed was awesome, sure the warehog levels were long and sometimes a bit much but it was different and I liked it I didn't love it but I enjoyed it none the less with that being said the day time stages were AMAZING
There is a dreamcast in the opening cutscene. So much for no nostalgia
I own the Switch version. Played it, loved it. Don’t understand the hate.
Aidan Cannon Iv got the PS4 version and I love it...
Aidan Cannon me two i was waiting for this so i can see if i should buy it
Aidan Cannon sonic fanbase
Aidan Cannon yeah I liked it
Yikes, this didn’t age well, everyone hates Forces now, understandably. Colours is a bit better, but that’s not saying much, I’d rather play literally any other 3D sonic game, except 06 cause I don’t own it. Mania is best Sonic game though, even if I’m biased for Unleashed.
Idk who keeps asking for mixed 3D+2D gameplay
I'm thinking of getting Sonic Forces on my Switch since it is actually $9.99 right now, and I think this review has probably got me to get both this one and Sonic Mania. Both are actually on sale, and I'd say get both for some fun chaos.
I fully agree with everything EXCEPT Classic Sonic. I love 2d side scrolling, I think they nailed it and i wish they added more. I also didn't like the character customization. I thought it was forced.
i know everybody will hate me but I like sonic forces
Well I also do.
The credits are longer than the game.
Professor FatSak The installation was longer than the game.
Professor FatSak No.
At least the music was good during it. At least I thought so as I got up and made a sandwich after realizing I couldn't skip through them. xD
CV Anims I don’t remember the song. I just spaced out. But the music in this game was alright.
Professor FatSak i swear u cant skip them XD
in my opinion, the game is "frustratingly" average. there is so much we wanted from this game and so many great opportunities that we'll probably never see again in a sonic game.
1. avatar. creating your own avatar was something I really loved.
Infinite deserved way better
what did forces do well:
1. the music: the music is stellar. ranging in variety from many genres. there are a few songs I wanted to play on repeat until I got sick of them.
2. Boss Fights: Boss fights are done pretty well. they're all unique (except Infinite 3 and Metal Sonic) and each boss has their own flare
3. lastly, the game looks beautiful.... that is all
have a nice day.... :)
The game is currently downloading on my switch and I'm excited.
Most complaints people have brought up sound like nitpicks or things that won't personally bother me.
ik this is not a "true" sonic game, but i loved Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood really good rpg game.
This review was spot on! This game was a blast to play!
"he was ready to hate the game, he was tired of nostalgia evon though green hill and chemical plant made more appearances in Forces then in Mania, he says that the modern sonic level design isn't the best, it doesn't come to the high points of Sonic Colours, he thinks the game would be better of without Classic Sonic"
*Puts it above Sonic Generations and Sonic Unleashed and above SA2 because it is the second best 3d Sonic game*
With all joking aside, here is my short review
The plot isn't amazing, it has interesting points but still it isn't an award winning story.
The stages are short tho
Ther are a lot of customization options for your avatar. The level design is built around the different Wispons (Park Avenue, Guardian Rock and Imperial Tower have extremely good level design for the special abilities of the Wispons). The stages are longer then modern Sonic stages. Altough Drill wispon is beyond OP
The physics for classic Sonic just feel wrong, for any character really but it is really wrong for classic Sonic, the level design is actually a mix of Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 level design (it is heavily platform based like sonic 1 but features level design for sonic 2's spindash)
The tag team stages, wich there aren't many of, are actually pretty good.
It is also free
Super sonic dlc used to need you to pay for it but now it isn't, go get it it's free.
2 things I HATED
1. 2D Sonic was just there for nostalgia and I hated his levels. Why did we need him anyway? We got a 2D game before this.
2. Some of the levels were too short. I was really hyped to play Aqua Road because of the song for it but it was over before I got to get hyped. Also classic Sonic's music was horrible imo.
2 things I loved
1. They perfected the boost formula and the Sonic levels were amazing.
2. I absolutely loved the avatar stages and customizations. It added replay value at least for me.
Some of the levels were too short? Youre being to generous. All of the levels were way too short.
I HAVE to stop right there.
This is BY FAR the worst boost game we've had.
Most of the game is fucking auto pilot and the Boost essentially let's you fly.
You can hold the Boost button and you'll almost always beat the level
Ye this the worst boost game out of the four it is more automated than sonic 06
06 would've been better if it was all automated.
"This is a good game"
"The second best one"
Excuse me...what?
Exactly what I'm saying lmfao. Forces suckeddddd
@@scrotiemcboogerballs5735 ever heard of an opinion
@@expertav5333 it's hot trash man. The controls are clunky, for the first and only 3D Sonic on current consoles the graphics look bad, animations, level design. All bad.
@@scrotiemcboogerballs5735 nope, opinion
@@expertav5333 You know I'm right bud. Play Unleashed or Generations.
Why does sonic look like he's high on the thumbnail?
gundamzerostrike lmao 😂
It is a good game the controls are easy to learn and everything in the game is fabulous! The only thing I don't like they don't notify you when to go to 2d mode and stuff. Customization is very nice you can even choose your own clothing and not always having basic sonic! So I must say this game is great.
It’s down to $20 now. Which honestly is super worth it IMO
"As far as 3D Sonic's go, this is probably the second best one..."
Stopped watching right there.
we all know that sonic boom was the best and that no game can beat it ever.
_You really can't handle opinions huh? Awe poor you! Sorry you cant handle opinions_
When I though that I was like "Wow, you must have some pretty low standards"
Nuka Corgi Sorry your taste is so shit.
Maybe when your mind doesn't run on the internet's opinions you can come back and talk.
I personally loved the drop dash in the classic Sonic levels of this game.
I love the game!!! I grow up on the old school sonic games and I'm actually surprised that I'm starting to like 3D sonic games
Better than IGN's rewiev
P.S. for me the game is a 11/10
ShadowTheSanta
Take my Like!
ANYTHING is better than IGN honestly.
I totally agree! Sonic Forces is not as "terrible" as what the Sonic fanbase tends to say it is.
At first, 3 rotating play styles brought a learning curve, but once I got used to it, I appreciate the variety and anticipation over what's next !
Important notion about classic Sonic: You can change the movement controls from analogue to d-pad in the options menu and that makes controlling classic Sonic MUCH smoother!
Wow this review sucked. "Sonic forces is better than generations because i hate nostalgia"
Love this game! I would have liked a Chaos and/or Shadow boss fight, but I fought infinite multiple times and the Shadow cut scene made up for no Shadow boss.
Thumbnail summaries the game
I liked this game, I agree classic sonic shouldn’t have been in it though, but modern sonic and even the avatar I enjoyed. I’d like to see the avatar make a return in future games.
Bought it, beaten it, had neutral feelings for most of the classic stages, liked the modern and avatar stages, loved the graphics and music, loved the avatar customizations, and I kinda agree that Classic Sonic wasn't necessary. Overall, I thought Sonic Forces was okay.
I wish people would stop comparing sonic mania to forces i like 3d sonic more and i think they did a good job
Jake Bystedt me to buddy...
Ugh, agreed!
A game with 30 Stages that don't even last 2 minutes for speedruns, linear Level design is good? They didn't ruined totally the game, but at least i could say it's decent. It's not like it is Sonic 06 part 2. But it's obvious that Sonic Team didn't make a good job.
Gaming and Console Tech too****
Ryan Leimgruber sorry I’m dyslexic so please don’t judge like that.
Sonic X is in my top 10 anime
Sonic X is my favorite anime of all time.
When mentioning the "Dimps" Sonic games, be sure to specify it's "Sonic 4", cause the Sonic Advance Trilogy is GREAT!
I think I'm in the minority, but I like Forces a lot. Not as much as Colours or Mania or the classics(1,2,3K) and as much as CD
Same
I'm gonna be honest, forces being better than Generations is objectively not true.
Here are my reasons why:
Generations modern gameplay requires you to think and react while in forces it is on autopilot for most of the journey.
