Definitely the better option over Seibon. Always hated not being able to run the stock top mount vent. Those rain channels and heat vents on the top are a nice addition. The spot for the hood latch also looks more reinforced than the Seibon did.
I remember way before I subscribed you said (wont do too much Carbon Fiber) but in the end, Carbon Fiber always wins lol. Hood will look amazing, nice purchase!
Nice piece! I'm finishing up my e46 M3 now. Last thing is getting my CSL bumper and carbon fiber truck painted. I caught your comment on the Obsessed Garage podcast about the e46 M3 exhaust, great recommendation.
A beautiful hood, hope it fits good, from what I seen it should. If I can make just one carbon fiber recommendation for your Subaru this is the one I recommend to you. It is also performance related and when installed visually totally understated. It will not be seen, but produce responsiveness that transforms the driving experience if you know what I mean. A carbon fiber drive shaft saves rotating mass. When you step on the gas ⛽️ you feel the added acceleration on your ass. (PST weighs roughly 1/2 of OEM according to Rallysport Direct)
Thank you Chris for blessing us with this video. I've been watching a lot of videos on carbon hoods for the subie recently and yours by far is the best. I look forward to the install vid!
Soooo here’s my 2 cents on this and it’s literally 2 cents😂😂 Dude if that weave looks pristine I wouldn’t paint it, it would be like painting all your other carbon pieces, you bought them because of the look and that hood looks amazing. I know it’s not my car but looks soooooo nice. Again just my opinion. Hey maybe throw a carbon trunk or maybe just a carbon wing and have it all come together. Just my opinion. Man it looks great!!!!!!
Makes me miss my carbon hood. Washers are your friend to make it fit if you’re having issues of it touching the fender corner. Can’t wait for the install vid
I agree with everything you said about the VIS VS2 hood. I absolutely love mine! I bought it after I went fmic so I never had the plenum for the top mount attached. I had a tough time getting it adjusted to fit, and still have slightly more gap on the pass side, but its hardly noticeable. I opted out using hood pins as well. As you said, drilling or cutting into a $1k plus hood just makes me cringe. I've had the oem latch on since day one, had it to 140+ several times, and it stayed firm. I adjusted the nubs under the hood so it sits about 1/8th of an inch lower than the front bumper for downforce. I don't plan on painting mine, though I can't wait to see how yours turns out. Might make me change my mind. Haha At this time I've ceramic coated it and I wax it along with the rest of the car and it looks like glass. Anyway, beautiful car you have! Can't wait to see the hood on!
Super jealous. I want this same hood soooooooo bad, but I am kind afraid of paying for it and then have to wait like 3-4 months for it to arrive. ( and if it shows up messed up, we'll that's a catastrophe). But if you don't want it I'll buy it from you no problem. Can't wait to see her mounted up.
Looks sweet! Seibon sucks. NEVER have I purchased a product that fit. I have returned almost all of them. Can you let us know how the fitment was? Every hood I ever got from Seibon just does not fit properly. I am really liking this hood so I am really curious how it worked out for you. I have a 2020 WRX. Thank you for your videos and time!
I know this comment is late , but how did you end up liking it when you had it on your STI ? Was the fitment perfect ? I heard that it had horrible fitment issues. I understand this is the V2 version so I would hope they fixed the fitment issues
Do you think you will need 2 hood latches for this hood or you think the factory hood latch will be fine??? I hear that some carbon fiber hoods would shake at high speed. Hopefully this would not be the case for hood can’t wait for the install video 💯🏁🏁🏁
Hey Chris, really awesome video that answered all my questions. I have one final question that is likely a dumb one... Are the rain guards channeled or they just collect the rain? I assume they just collect but figured I'd ask lol...
They are channeled to the back of the hood. When you open the hood, the water runs back to the rain channels of the cowl. They aren’t sealed tight so some water gets through, but they did a good job keeping the bay dry.
Does the scoop sit up higher than factory? As in, is it more obvious from the drivers seat too? In my head, I am thinking of cowl hoods and kid of want that look too. Looks great!
I loved my carbon stock style hood I had on my Chevy Cruze, got a killer deal on it too, $200 dollars still in the box. I had to drive to Illinois to pick it up, but I live in Wisconsin so it wasn’t a big hike to pick it up.
Does the hood make it any less practical in rain/snow, you know since water is getting in the engine bay since it’s more exposed with the two side vents? Wanting to get one to later on so just curious. Never mind you cover that with the vents 😂😂
It’s beautiful! I have a question if you don’t mind me asking.. it took a long time to get correct? Was it difficult to get answers on the status of your order? Because I ordered a lip kit from wings west wich is partners with vis racing now because wings west was big back in the day… I even tried emailing vis racing multiple times and they never respond.. did you have a hard time getting answers?
I ordered through mod garage. I had great communication with them throughout my purchase of this. Keep in mind, it’s different times now and everything is taking 4x as long to ship.
@@Autofreakgarage oh ok I gotcha.. yeah I ordered mines through BMCEXTREMECUSTOMS and this was on April 5th 2021 we going into august and still no answer.. but I didn’t take what’s going on into consideration with the delays of shipping.. so yeah your probably right.. thanks bro
@@Autofreakgarage I know you showed the inserts on the side vents and the anodized metal mesh on the main scoop but does that main scoop come blocked off as well?
vis hood looking cool, i love it too before. But Why not buy the subispeed new OLM Hood? the style same like the vis hood They have a choice of colors. i think the look more better than the vis hood.
Hi huge fan of the channel and build! I'm looking to get the same hood and was wondering how it holds up without the hood latches, and also had a concern if you could help answer it in regards to the vents and rain new to cars and have a '20 sti and dont want to mess up my engine!
I’ve driven in the triple digits and cruised at highway speeds for hours at a time. Hood doesn’t even budge. This hood comes with rain guards that are removable. Modern motors are designed to be able to withstand getting wet. You won’t mess up your engine.
Yes inspection on delivery is required before signing. Not sure if I’m going to do the latches as it’s not any lighter than the stock hood and clips in very well.
I just got this same hood, and yeah ALWAYS inspect anything carbon before you accept it. I'll be doing the hood latches for style and for piece of mind 👍

Me too. The seibon is nice, but the features and overall r&d on the vis is much nicer. It’s a super quality piece.
I could hear the excitement in your voice. I’m over here hyped as shit as I look at my stock hood
I remember way before I subscribed you said (wont do too much Carbon Fiber) but in the end, Carbon Fiber always wins lol. Hood will look amazing, nice purchase!
It’ll be painted and will only have touches of carbon. I’m still a firm believer of adding too much carbon.

OEM latch. It hooks very well. As well as OEM and feel the connection points are very secure.
