My 2007 EOS was originally imported from the USA to Europe by one of the previous owners. It has had the same Premium 7 radio, plus an iPod adapter is in the armrest. The paperwork is still in the glovebox, but another prev. owner switched the Premium 7 out to a regular RCD500 with 6CD MP3 changer. (I'm guessing this had to be done because of the FM radio functionality in Europe? Under the seat there is still the box for SIRIUS.)
I'm debating on which route I should take. My minimum goal is to have AUX in, Bluetooth or USB would be an added plus. I would like to maintain the OEM look so Pioneer/Alpine/etc. head units ar out of question. RCD330 or a DENSION-like CDC simulator with USB/BT for my current RCD500...

My daughter has the 2009 VW EOS she got the factory radio switched to a pioneer. And new speakers. Now the battery keep draining. The guy who done it saying that alternator is going bad... But we had no issues before then. Is this common
Yes its a common problem. These radios are sold with a canbus simulator and units like the Pioneer can use ones like the Idatalink Maestro (thats what I use) to prevent these types of problems.

hi, thanks for that detailed process video! I have one question do you notice any difference on audio quality?
The only audio abnormality I have noticed is that songs played from the SD card sound like the top/low ends are cut off, whereas if the same songs are played from my Iphone via CarPlay, they sound normal. Streaming sites like Radio.net also sound really good (streamed from the Iphone via CarPlay)

Nice video! Do you have any issues with battery drain (car battery will die within 3-4 days no start), also does the screen dims with headlights or is it all manual control? Also do you get songs/navigation direction on your MFD (center red screen)? Also are you able to stream music using bluetooth without having to plug in your phone? Lastly how is the bluetooth quality when making calls? I heard some RCD330/360 units turns on both the mic of the head unit and your phone, hence you get echo. Thanks for answering!
I used the CanBus adapter to enable the steering wheel buttons to work, this also eliminates any possibility of battery drain. As for dimming, I assume you mean dimming when you adjust the intensity of the interior lights, I have not tested that but will. The RCD330 does not have internal navigation, so you are relying on the phone for NAV functionality. My factory Premium 7 radio/changer did not have navigation, so that function is probably disabled and would have to be enabled via VCDS to see it it works with the NAV from the Iphone via CarPlay. Yes you can stream music from your phone via Bluetooth without having it plugged in. I have not tested the Bluetooth calling very much, just a couple of calls, the people I did call did not hear any echo but one heard static noises, I need to do more tests to see if that feature is usable. I did exit the vehicle with the phone and tried to talk and the other person could not hear me, so in my situation, my Iphones mic is not on while using the Bluetooth calling feature. Echo could also be caused by the close proximity of the speakers to the microphone in the radio (especially if you turn up the volume too high) and I did not see any type of noise cancellation option in the menu to compensate for these issues.
Thanks for prompt responses. What I meant with dimming meant when your headlights come on, the instrumental and other lights should dim correspondingly, as the car thinks it is nightime. Can you try in the daytime and turn your EOS headlights on and see if the RCD360 screen dims? Thanks!

@@2phast Many thanks. It might also have an auto brightness, meaning it will independently adjust screen brightness. It might be able to be activated from engineering menu by holding down setup fof a few seconds and select brightness. If it is available you should see an auto brightness checkbox.
Pretty sure you still need VCDS to enable "Development Test Mode" before the holding down of the setup button will work.
have you had any issues with the usb input not working? I read several reviews saying that this was a common issue that the input worked at first but said that it stopped after a few months.
No issues, use it everyday for Apple CarPlay

Do the optical parking sensors still work on the display for a 2008 Eos?
These units are designed to work with the newer parking sensors, so from 2009 upwards.

Which ever seller you choose to purchase from should have the needed canbus adapter, its an extra charge.

Hello sir. I am about to order a rcd330 noname, and I am wondering if I am gonna get battery drain issues. I have a golf 5 from 2008 without a multifunction steering wheel. Will the canbus simulator prevent battery draining if my gateway is too old?

Yes, I am using the canbus adapter with the included MK5 adapter harness, this was to ensure the steering wheel buttons worked. I believe the battery drain issues were on 2007 and earlier.

Does it(and the navigation system) only work with iPhones?
The radio itself has no navigation. Navigation is done via your Iphone or Android phone and is displayed on the radio screen if your phone is connected via USB to the radio.

You can find these on Alibaba, Amazon or Ebay. Most sellers that provide the radios also provide the wire harness and the steering wheel control module (extra cost)

Yes, make sure to get the canbus adapter so you don't have any battery drain issues and you can use your steering wheel controls.

@@magisventje Some early MK5 cars may experience a battery drain issue, you should Google it. The canbus adapter also addresses the battery drain issue. Or, you can replace the associated canbus module with an updated one. Again, Google it, the topic has been covered quite a bit.
