Some people may already know that John is Left-Handed and plays Drums Right-handed He is a Swing/Shuffle Drummer and very few people can incorporate this into a Hard Rock Band's music.
Francis Rossi with stubble and an untidy sweaty shirt. It says it all. This line up brought out the best in him. So nice that they did it one last time
I actually prefer him without the stubble but the fact I saw 7 Statud Quo gigs in March 2013 and another 7 around March 2014, says it all. I was not even born when their was just 4 of them live on stage the first time. Part of me wishes I had been.
Even after two sellout tours and the totally amazing reception from the Quo faithful, Rossi still denied that the FF were the best line up. We lost a truly magical window that could have seen the original Quo, produce one last memorable album. Alas, Rick and Alan are now rockin in heaven.
I would think that Francis denied that just because it wouldn't be fair to the others [Rhino and Matt at the time] to hear it. As much as he and Alan had their differences, I'm sure that he knows that the line up of the glory days of the 70's was unbeatable.
@@sahhull No I disagree mate. They moved on to bigger and better things after Roy departed. The FF were all that were needed, though Andy was a great addition later on.
Rossi maintains the present plastic Quo line up is the best! He is barmy. When Nuff and Spud left the Quo were never ever the same. Glad they all reunited for one last time.
I only really appreciated what a good vocalist Rick was after he'd died and been replaced by a guy out of a tribute band, who can play all the songs, but is no singer. Parfitt made it look easy, and I suppose I took him for granted.
FF the best by a country mile. Met Rick and Francis with my son then in his teens some years ago. Francis was quiet, seemed aloof (read somewhere later that he is more comfortable around other musos (not sure if true). Rick was a diamond. He was so nice and easy to talk to and especially took an interest in what me or my son had to say. When John and Alan left the band credit to Francis and Rick for still putting on great shows with the new line up but never felt they were the same. When Rick sadly died the band died.
Status Quo are one of the best ever British Rock Bands. I used to buy their albums and have seen them live. They sounded as good as ever with this line up of band members.
The way I see it, if you follow a football team, you expect changes in the line up and you support the team through the good times and bad whoever is playing. We live in a changing world and the fact that Quo have remained a big draw for many years has proved to us all that there distinct sound is still as popular now as it ever has been.
I have the albums and concert memories, been a fan since 75, and this concert is where it ends for me, when somthing is this good you dont mess with it, glad that francis is still having fun though.
Saw them first at Bridlington Spa around 1980, I was blown away by them & the sound they made, the original line up will always be the best RIP Alan & Rick, this music will never die, it's there forever...
Great upload. I was there that night. I've a few Quo albums and had seen them a few times. Nothing prepared me for how incredible the Frantic Four lineup was that night.
Their best and rockiest song, even nearly 50 years of age... recorded 1974 for the 1975 on the level album, they did it in 1974 on some gigs, 1975 in Madrid, from 1977 Birmingham nearly always in their set, a classic, the g tuning and the 3 rythm guys, guitar, bass and drums are one ... vs flawless voices, just great.
not as good as the marquis footage or wembley 74 which is very raw and powerful ..or the live single ep . rollover lay down .juniors wailing .gerdundula . is i think probably their best ever live sound .better than the live album really . .
What makes the Frantic Four line up is there’s an artistic authenticity to them that Plastic Quo doesn’t have. This is the band that slaved in the studio to record these great songs and it shows. It’s real.
Rossi wants to keep the dream alive. I love Quo but life don't end when you die bro. It dies when you give up. Miss Rick, but these guys were magic together!!
was great to see them back the real quo .. but would have been nice to have the original warm powerful valvey guitar sound like in earlier years rather then the no bottom end over processed modern guitar tones . ideally the the sound city backline and just a colorsound tonebender each . , and rick on the sg junior for the cherry on the cake .
Coghlan. Rossi. Parfitt. And Lancaster. The original Status Quo. And to think there are actually people out there that don't like this band. Nah!! I don't believe that also.
To think that Alan Lancaster Had MS during this comeback and played and sang flawlessly is a Testament of how good he really was
or how much the rest of the band carried him.
And how much he loved doing this all over again.
@@sahhullgood on them 👍🏻
@@sahhull How was he carried when he sang and played so well ? Listen to yourself.
@@sahhull no way Alan was perfect in time ...Rossi coked up
They still sound great here and should be remembered this way! RIP Rick and Alan!
Rick the goat, sadly missed
They will be by the faithful. This is Quo....and we lived in these times. My boys carry the torch onward.
I love them ,the best group in the world, sorry for my english ,I am from Poland
In 1974 I discovered Status Quo with this song. . I was 12 .. until tiday...DOWN DOWN...❤
What a joy to hear the real Quo playing again. RIP to Alan and Rick, true rockers and nice guys.
the glorious Rock of the 70's will NEVER be beaten for every genre of music.those of us who lived it knew it was a special era.
Too right!
Rick made this tour, he was flawless .
He couldn’t hide his delight to be playing with Nuff and Spud again.
John Coghlan...the most underrated drummer in a successful band in the last 50 years.
Some people may already know that John is Left-Handed and plays Drums Right-handed
He is a Swing/Shuffle Drummer and very few people can incorporate this into a Hard Rock Band's music.
Spot on mate!

The best quo line up! Tight as hell, brilliant songs
they are the Quo
Even after two sellout tours and the totally amazing reception from the Quo faithful, Rossi still denied that the FF were the best line up. We lost a truly magical window that could have seen the original Quo, produce one last memorable album. Alas, Rick and Alan are now rockin in heaven.

The real amazing Quo line up would have had Roy Lynes too.
@@sahhull No I disagree mate. They moved on to bigger and better things after Roy departed. The FF were all that were needed, though Andy was a great addition later on.
@@MrDarkmenace1 yeah, that’s a good way of looking at it!
Seen Quo many times, but I do feel Rossi is a bit arrogant!
fukcing brilliant RIP Rick and Alan, thanks for the wonderful memories.
8 years today...Epic Night in Dublin....The Frantic Four were on Fire....
R.I.P. Rick and Alan...

Well said my friend thank you very much for your time
Status Quo are one of the best ever British Rock Bands. I used to buy their albums and have seen them live. They sounded as good as ever with this line up of band members.
Seen Quo over fifty times between 1980 and the frantic Four gigs. This is the best version of Down Down that I've seen recorded live.
Amazing, there is a unique timing, grit and presence between these four blokes that will never be repeated. The fire will never be quashed 🔥 x
The only line-up that gives me goosebumps.
Quo WERE these four , no use pretending otherwise .
why cant rossi see that .its bizarre
I've always loved John's drumming especially
The best fun band EVER. THE QUO.
You can see Alan looking at Francis's fantastic guitar playing with admiration.
RIP Alan Lancaster.

Nice for me, as a German, to see John wearing a Berlin shirt :-) ... Hauptstadt Rocker Berlin..ggg
Saw them at Wolverhampton Civic Hall both tours phenomenal crowds and performance the boys were on fire R.I.P. Rick and Alan 🎸🎸🎸👍
Watching these videos you have to say Quo have the most loyal best set of fans!

Only saw Quo once, in the Greyhound Pub in Fulham Palace Road about 1973

Absolutely tremendous 👍
this band gave me fantastic entertainment and i absolutely love thier music. i thank them whole heartedly.
The greatest British rock band ever - I mean ever!! RIP Rick!🙏!!
Totally agree Chris 59.. I saw them back In the day 3 times, god they were awesome...

Lots of chat on here about this being the best line-up. Newsflash, this is Quo, everything else is imitation.
Great sound, thanks for uploading.
Glad you like it!
Rip Alan Lancaster and the mighty Ric parfett
Absolutely stunning, what a sound
Went from this to in the army now, from 1970 to 1976 Quo were simply amazing still listen to the early stuff most days.
Great video upload thanks👍❤️
Thanks for visiting
This is probably the very best they have ever sounded..

These guys were just Amazing. I first saw them live in I think 1979 at The Liverpool Empire. I was 20 yrs old. Happy Days 🎸🎸👍
It’s ridiculous how good they sound. Chemistry always wins
Grew up listening to these men dad is a mad quo fan as are all 3 of us boys can't be played loud enough
The Most Exciting Band EVER!🤗
Sooo much better than
' soft ' Quo. Much better deeper sound thanks to Alan and John. Have listened since the 70's, will be listening forever 😅
Saw them in France 3 times 2007 2011 and 2022 🥰
Biggest rythmic section of all times !
That was EXCELLENT.... R.I.P. Rick & Allan
Down Down, Deeper on Down!! My choice of "going out" music at my Cremation..... If they'll play it!! 81 now so probably not long to go. Love the Quo.
Just terrific
Saw them at wolves civic amazing
I was there that night ❤️
Takes me back
Proof: There's only one John Coghlan.
Yes, SPUD is the best swing-shuffle Drummer of all time.
No Coghlan, then no QUO.
Very sad.
This is the proper quo I grew up with ,not the tribute band Rossi has now .😊
Agreed 100% mate. I cant bear looking at Malone trying to be Rick.
What makes the Frantic Four line up is there’s an artistic authenticity to them that Plastic Quo doesn’t have.

This was the real quo not the piss poor act that is on the the road now the cabaret quo so sad
They were shit hot. For a particular time. Ma Kelly's and dog of two heads are stone cold classics
No other way to say it but QUO!! anything else is a cover band, the Frantic Four just had magic!!❤
Hair stand on end!

Genuine Rock history with these 4. The FF were Quo, every other line-up was a poor imitation.
I didn’t know about this or I would have gone . New band line up not the quo I grew up with
Who needs fekin keyboards when you've got thease 4 amigos on the four court
Rick looks like The Great Mick Ralph's here no?
