'Pure rock and roll' with a full orchestra backing them up. Don't get me wrong, the music is all fine, but a FULL orchestral backup being 'pure' rock and roll? Hmmmm....
The orchestra are trying not to jump out of their seats. I had the privilege of seeing Status Quo live five times from 1976 to 2000. All their shows were magnificent! On one occasion they even upstaged Deep Purple, on the same night. I kid you not!
25 years ago and I,ve just watched this glorious bands last live tune. Tears...? U betcha. This great band has been a constant in my life for 50 + years... I still have their music recorded forever, digitally, on vinyl, cd, cassette and all the rest. But best of all... In my memories.. Unbeatable.....
If you watch the orchestra it is quite evident how much they are genuinely enjoying playing this track. The Quo weren't especially sophisticated with their music but my word could they make a venue rock!😊.
c'est la folie musicale qui s'échappe pour se répandre parmi les gens trop sérieux , et leur inculquer l'étrangeté et la rareté de vivre et de s'exprimer , sans compromis , ni complaisance , sans mensonge , ni faux semblants .........
Absolutely Incredible !!!!! You will never ever replicate the sheer joy that everyone got from this !!!!! The world would be so much a better place if we all joined together in this type of event !!!
I love the way the usually quiet and restrained members of the orchestra are smiling, playing with gusto and even antics, totally responding to the joy and verve produced by these wizened old rockers.Pure delight. What a wonderful collaboration between different musical avenues.
and , I could be wrong , but I get the distinct impression that the Conductor is just too damn scared to look over his shoulder and see what's going on behind him ... ! 🙄
Cheer you up ? ? I was flatlining , pouring with rain outside - by the end of this I had tears of joy streaming down my face and the sun was breaking through ( Rick watching )
Highly trained classical musicians letting their hair down and getting on it with the Quo ! Who wouldn't ? ? ( @4-46 shivers down the spine moment ) It's music - no matter what type , it gets you deep ( er and ) down 😉 EDIT : ok , I could be wrong , but I have a sneaky feeling the Conductor was too scared to look over his shoulder ! 😲
Well this is something I’ve not seen before, bloody brilliant. Saw them in concert, it was mental. G/F knew them so went backstage. Even more mental, magic memories.
The one band I took my kids to see live in Manchester in the nineties. Just pure, unadulterated rock. Just brilliant! I challenge anyone not move when they hear Quo in full stream.
OMG!!!! My goosebumps have goosebumps. This is just amazing. What a feeling it must be to be backed by an orchestra like this and to play to such an audience. I saw Quo in the national stadium in Dublin back in the 70s and have loved them ever since.
it is the musical madness which escapes to spread among people who are too serious, and instill in them the strangeness and the rarity of living and expressing oneself, without compromise, nor complacency, without lies, nor false pretenses..
Great to find this video, what a fabulous performance, but then they all were. Thanks for this Folks and RIP Rick, still enjoying the sounds you gave us.
if you weren't actually there, the real "money shot" is when the lights zoom over the audience .... that moment alone merges sight & sound into pure emotion - gives you a hint , just a hint mind , of the reality 🙂

RIP Rick Parfitt * 12. Oktober 1948; † 24. Dezember 2016. I will never forget the gig in London with you and Status Quo. Was one of my best nights ever if not the best. Sadly your day of death will come soon again. I miss you every year.
Still find after all these years as soon as the initial intro is done, i still start to head bang to the rhythm, sure at 57 years of age, not as hard as I used to but still can not stop wanting rock out to this great song, after almost 50 years from first release
What's this Dad? That son, is pure joy. Just some lads having the craic.

At one gig, the MC introduced the Quo as 'the greatest rock and roll band in the world'. He was right. God Bless Rick. ❤
Sem dúvidas.
Glasgow Apollo ..... 1976 ?
Not even in the top 20! cheers
he was right!!!
mmmm there are a lot of bands that fit that bill
Quo at the Proms.
Seen it all now.
Amazing.
The smile on the face of the violinist at about 4.20 says it all.
If you weren't blessed enough to be
there at least we have this recording.
Yeah... that's Andy Bown, he was with the band as long as they excist. ❤🎉😮

That day Francis and Rick were 2 feet away from me, just before they came on stage...they gave me a thumbs up.....Still goosebumps!!
The power of pure joy from The Mighty Quo.
When you watch this it reminds you that Status Quo are the best rock group on the planet. Miss Rick so much the heart of the group.......
Not really.
II agree
This is pure rock and roll performed by one of the best rock bands there has ever been

What can you say?
That was just epic from band and orchestra.
Loved the orchestra’s reaction.

High school in the 70s, the girls loved the Disco, the boys loved the QUO!!! Thanks boys, best era of my life, best music to compliment it. RIP Rick
For an orchestra that is used to a more formal programme of music this must be a breath of fresh to show their musical prowess.
I grew up listening to Status Quo….one regret I never saw them live while Rick was alive……fabulous music will be with us forever. 🎶🎶🎶❤️
I did, even going the night after my wedding. 20th December 1992 to see them with my late brother. They were just brilliant.
Go see the current line up. They're pretty solid and honestly, better than the last few times I saw them with Rick.

Rock music is so powerful, sometimes mixed with orchestral, it, s off the scale. How friggin good is this?
The orchestra's members are amazing 😍🤩🤪 Epic version, a masterpiece 😍😍
Bach & Mozart ( if still alive ) would be air-guitaring to this - they know a tune or two ! 😉
Especially that double bass player at 3:04
I'VE NEVER SEEN A CELLO PLAYED LIKE THIS B4, AND A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL. GREAT QUO.
