If you watch the orchestra it is quite evident how much they are genuinely enjoying playing this track. The Quo weren't especially sophisticated with their music but my word could they make a venue rock!😊.
Cheer you up ? ? I was flatlining , pouring with rain outside - by the end of this I had tears of joy streaming down my face and the sun was breaking through ( Rick watching )
The orchestra are trying not to jump out of their seats. I had the privilege of seeing Status Quo live five times from 1976 to 2000. All their shows were magnificent! On one occasion they even upstaged Deep Purple, on the same night. I kid you not!
The one band I took my kids to see live in Manchester in the nineties. Just pure, unadulterated rock. Just brilliant! I challenge anyone not move when they hear Quo in full stream.
'Pure rock and roll' with a full orchestra backing them up. Don't get me wrong, the music is all fine, but a FULL orchestral backup being 'pure' rock and roll? Hmmmm....
Highly trained classical musicians letting their hair down and getting on it with the Quo ! Who wouldn't ? ? ( @4-46 shivers down the spine moment ) It's music - no matter what type , it gets you deep ( er and ) down 😉 EDIT : ok , I could be wrong , but I have a sneaky feeling the Conductor was too scared to look over his shoulder ! 😲
OMG!!!! My goosebumps have goosebumps. This is just amazing. What a feeling it must be to be backed by an orchestra like this and to play to such an audience. I saw Quo in the national stadium in Dublin back in the 70s and have loved them ever since.
if you weren't actually there, the real "money shot" is when the lights zoom over the audience .... that moment alone merges sight & sound into pure emotion - gives you a hint , just a hint mind , of the reality 🙂
I love the way the usually quiet and restrained members of the orchestra are smiling, playing with gusto and even antics, totally responding to the joy and verve produced by these wizened old rockers.Pure delight. What a wonderful collaboration between different musical avenues.
and , I could be wrong , but I get the distinct impression that the Conductor is just too damn scared to look over his shoulder and see what's going on behind him ... ! 🙄
Still find after all these years as soon as the initial intro is done, i still start to head bang to the rhythm, sure at 57 years of age, not as hard as I used to but still can not stop wanting rock out to this great song, after almost 50 years from first release
At one gig, the MC introduced the Quo as 'the greatest rock and roll band in the world'. He was right. God Bless Rick. ❤
Sem dúvidas.
Glasgow Apollo ..... 1976 ?
Not even in the top 20! cheers
The smile on the face of the violinist at about 4.20 says it all.
If you weren't blessed enough to be
there at least we have this recording.
Yeah... that's Andy Bown, he was with the band as long as they excist. ❤🎉😮
One of the most underrated rock bands in the world. Thanks thanks thanks for remember them. RIP Rick.

For an orchestra that is used to a more formal programme of music this must be a breath of fresh to show their musical prowess.
Just how can listening to this not cheer you up ! Pure joy.

I grew up listening to Status Quo….one regret I never saw them live while Rick was alive……fabulous music will be with us forever. 🎶🎶🎶❤️
I did, even going the night after my wedding. 20th December 1992 to see them with my late brother. They were just brilliant.
Go see the current line up. They're pretty solid and honestly, better than the last few times I saw them with Rick.
That performance perfectly sums up pure nostalgia at its very best. Just brilliant !

The orchestra and the audience loved it. So did I.

I love this band since 1970 am still around and enjoy listening to their music.
Love from the Island of Bougainville.
what a masterpiece
I'VE NEVER SEEN A CELLO PLAYED LIKE THIS B4, AND A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL. GREAT QUO.
The Quo always deliver. Brilliant - you only have to see the reaction of the audience and the orchestra to know what the opinion to this was.
Was für ein Gitarren Riff Rick Weltklasse.
Memories of very happy days
J'adore cette version c'est extraordinaire
Such a great rock and roll tune with a lovely guitar break in the middle. I remember when it was a hit. Still love today.
