This piece of music is one of the best things I have ever heard. The film is an absolute masterpiece and no matter how many times I see it, every time I watch it I still feel the same sense of awe that I did when I watched it the first time.
Rest in peace Michael Clark Duncan. You were the right pick and those of us who enjoyed your talent will never forget you. I cry every time I hear it. It makes me sad for all of us who have to meet our end, and many meet it in our view, so young and innocently. Yet it also makes me think of everyone who is in jail or was from a long time ago and how their lives ended.
Green Mile most of the people in the past deserved the death penalty. Bet you the guards never wet the sponge just like what percy did in the film after John Wayne Gacy and Ted Bundy.
Randy Jackson my point was you probably didnt know who john wayne gacy was, you looked it up on google. but anyways, Bundy got it in 1989, Gacy got lethal injection. yes of course I have watched green mile so many times and i have it on dvd. brilliant film
When I was a kid, like 11 years old, this was absolutely my favourite movie of all time. I remember the day I watched it for the first time twelve years ago. I was so happy back then. I still am now but back then, this movie's existence was the centre of my happy life. Amazing how simple life can be and how much we complicate it when we grow up.
'm tired, boss. Tired of bein' on the road, lonely as a sparrow in the rain. Tired of not ever having me a buddy to be with, or tell me where we's coming from or going to, or why. Mostly I'm tired of people being ugly to each other. I'm tired of all the pain I feel and hear in the world everyday. There's too much of it. It's like pieces of glass in my head all the time. Can you understand?
This gives me chills and makes me tear up at the same time....that's how you know it's good music, when it causes such reactions inside and out....simply beautiful 💕
Tomorrow it would've been a year since my grandad passed away, and instrumental music like this, which is heartbreaking but so beautiful reminds me of him perfectly. I miss him so, so much :'(
I had tears brewin during this film, what made it sadder is that Michael Clarke Dunkun had died when I finally got round to watching this film. What really sucks is that this composer also did the Shawshank Redemption and Lion King won the best soundtrack, which whilst is good, the music in Shawshank was so beautiful and uplifting as well as devastating.
Everytime I see this movie I have to turn up the 7.1 and listen to the entire credits music. Some of Newman's best work. I don't know how people can walk out of the theatre and not listen to the music. Thanks for uploading this low distortion masterpiece.
I remember seeing this movie as a kid, never really understood it cus it seemed violent and confusing because of my lack of understanding during that time. Iv recently watched this now that I have grown, and it's absolutely beautiful. This piece plays effortlessly in the movie :')
The most amazing film ever, I have never known a film to touch your as much as the green mile does. Whenever I watch the film or listen to the soundtrack, I get so emotional, all of it is pure beauty.
Wow, quite a mature film for an 11 year old. If I could go back to being a kid, I would savor the simplicity of life and the lack of worries I once had. But now for me, at the tender age of 23, life is a different game. This movie and especially this music can help you put things in perspective a little.
That's right. It's not that it's hard for me to imagine someone else in his place, I can't even do it. Unfortunately, many worthy people did not receive an Oscar at one time. And Michael is without a doubt one of them. And in general, the Oscar has not been a sign of quality for a very long time.
@@rorschach4489 I think the same thing happens with the composers....In 2020 the winner was the Icelandic Hildur Gudnadottir for Joker,a soundtrack that i love but i think Thomas Newman also deserve it for 1917
The beggining of this soundtrack always helps me put things back in perspective..just sit close your eyes, light one up..got and gets me through a lot of tough times..every dog has his day guys, chin up and God bless
0 dislikes, that's what I love to see. That's the sign of a movie that grabs attention at all types of lives and compares with our own unique struggles.
Dear Michael, Thank you for touched our lives ... i know you were loving all these people .. Thank you ... Rest In Peace .. Our hearts always be with you ...
the beginning reminds me of something but I dont know what. At the same time i feel happiness and sadness too. It´s very emotional soundtrack and movie. I feel very down when i listen it but at the same time it gives me some hope and joy. Thanks for this masterpiece
For some of you that put your comments on here years ago, you typed exactly how I feel and we all are walking that green mile everyday and we never know when. I was unable to put anything on your comments. It would not allow me to.
Salvatore catrini I remember when I used to listen to this every day. I read the novel and loved the heck out of the movie. I'm absolutely flooded with emotions after coming back to this.
the best reply ever, not only did you answer the question but also added the part, if only there were more people that would answer like you instead of the usual yes no or maybe. Thanks for uploading this, appreaciate it!
This piece chokes me up every time.. Just when I think the movie's over and I can pull myself together, the first few seconds just grab me and I know I'm not done just yet...
Coming back to this after watching the film again. This is one of those films where even though I know what's going to happen I still blubber like a baby, a truly incredible film and what a performance by mr.Duncan! Tom Hanks is without doubt one of the greatest actors to ever grace our screens.
He draws out your emotions so much more. Music for Road to Perdition, awesome. American Beauty as well. Fried Greed Tomatoes. Heard he did the music for Six Feet Under.
I finished the 6 books and cry my eyes out. Its so wonderful and... painful. I need this music now. All the Bad and good things in These world come together in These 6 books...
The death of the character, John Coffey, and his willingness and dignity in accepting it, was difficult for me to watch. The death of Michael Clarke Duncan brings that memory back and somehow magnifies the heartbreak of that scene, because we lost both the character and the gifted artist who portrayed him so brilliantly. I’ve always hated being overly emotional, but beauty does that to me. The acting, the music--everything about The Green Mile, will stay with me forever. Thank you, Mr. Duncan. You, too, were a true force of nature.
I share your views. An intrigue is this. One is to ask "overly emotional" by whose standards? And by what measure is one overly lacking? To wit, so many in this world, on this planet, discount the importance of allowing the emotional compliment within us to express. As regards men in particular, the emotional body needs expressing much, much more, the venting of which would surely foster a much healthier civilization. Indeed, a man who 'knows' himself, ay knows when and how to cry proves a most healthy man, indeed.
Yeah I agree with you guys. And although I'm too young to see The Green Mile, the film's soundtrack is very ambitious and it just makes me feel emotional and relaxed everytime I hear it.
If you mean the oboe and flute part starting @ 5:35 it is track 05 'Foolishment' from the OST. Also track 09 'Condemned Man' uses the same melody but played on a piano. The tracks are different though because in the End Credits it seems to have been extended and plays in a different (higher) key of music as far as I can hear. Hope this helps you.
This song could have been the soundtrack for so many death marches in the Marine Corps and Army Infantry. However, I could never equivocate such a beautiful song with such hellish memories of days passed.
"He killed them with they love. Now you see how it is. That's the way it is everyday. That's the way it is all over the world." Who hears this chilling speech and doesn't tear up??
I cry when i see this movie. It's a real masterpeace.
we all do buddy
When i completed watching this movie, my heart was so thick and i felt it would burst... Still i dont know why...
We all have our own green mile... Rest in Peace Mr. Duncan :,(
“Some people are... ‘gifted’...
... He... He was a Gift.”
Rest In Peace, Mr. Duncan. Rest In Peace.
We all have gifts just like Michael and his character John Coffey and we are not afraid to show them to the world
"On the day of my judgment, when I stand before God, and He asks me why did I kill one of his true miracles, what am I gonna say?"
"That it was my job?"
You tell God the Father that is was the kindness you’ve done.
Forgive me
I know you're hurtin and worryin, I can feel it on you, but you oughtta let go of it now. I want it to be over and done with. I do.
Your comment and the replies are all one of my favourite quotes from The Green Mile.

A piece of music that not even angels could describe as something other than heavenly
One of the most gorgeous, if not the most gorgeous, piece of music ever composed for film.
Rest in peace Michael Clark Duncan. You were the right pick and those of us who enjoyed your talent will never forget you. I cry every time I hear it. Randy Jackson yeah maybe they did something with that needle. how did you know he was killed by lethal injection, you searched it on Google ?
Randy Jackson my point was you probably didnt know who john wayne gacy was, you looked it up on google. but anyways, Bundy got it in 1989, Gacy got lethal injection.
yes of course I have watched green mile so many times and i have it on dvd. brilliant film
i always listen to this before sleeping makes me relaxing
Me crying. Ewww..
I always listen daddy yankee
Stephen King is a very influential writer, most movie masterpieces are based on his novels... Green mile# fantastic movie, and a tearjeacker too
Music that makes you cry uncontrollably, now that's magic :'(
Yeah
What a film! It will always be in my dvd collection. The music, the acting, unforgettable! R.I.P Michael

Yes John I think I can
🥺
This movie is so good, most of the time I just spend the credits crying. The music and the acting make it such a beautiful movie.

Much hope and strength through your grieving.
I'm sure he's watching over you. Stay strong ^_^
Your grandfather loved you and always will
that part makes me cry every time...in fact the whole film is so moving
Why did he not win the Oscar for this soundtrack. It's genius - and has never been topped.

Thomas Newman is a musical genius. Emotion translated through sound waves. Pure magic.
As a fan of the book, this film had probably the most perfect casting ever.
The most amazing film ever, I have never known a film to touch your as much as the green mile does. Whenever I watch the film or listen to the soundtrack, I get so emotional, all of it is pure beauty.
Such a wonderful piece to play along with on my harp; very moving; very powerful.
RIP Micheal Clarke Duncan. Gave us one of the all-time great performances with The Green Mile. He will be sadly missed.
Wow, quite a mature film for an 11 year old.

Michael Clarke Duncan was supposed to win an Oscar for this role
It's so unfair that he didn't win it☹️☹️☹️
That's right. It's not that it's hard for me to imagine someone else in his place, I can't even do it. Unfortunately, many worthy people did not receive an Oscar at one time. And Michael is without a doubt one of them. And in general, the Oscar has not been a sign of quality for a very long time.

One of the many absolutely BEAUTIFUL fim scores by Thomas Newman.
The beggining of this soundtrack always helps me put things back in perspective..just sit close your eyes, light one up..got and gets me through a lot of tough times..every dog has his day guys, chin up and God bless
My speech for MCD. Michael was one of the greatest actors. We wish you have fun in heaven. Rest well Michael Clarke Duncan. You live now in our hearts

Thank you for touched our lives ...
i know you were loving all these people ..

Thank you, Tom Hanks.
The opening string with a pitch bend at around 10 seconds is amazingly beautiful and starts this perfectly
the beginning reminds me of something but I dont know what. At the same time i feel happiness and sadness too. It´s very emotional soundtrack and movie. I feel very down when i listen it but at the same time it gives me some hope and joy. Thanks for this masterpiece
Rest in peace Michael---You will be missed...This is one of the most hauntingly beautiful melodies written by Thomas Newman. He is genius!
For some of you that put your comments on here years ago, you typed exactly how I feel and we all are walking that green mile everyday and we never know when. I was unable to put anything on your comments. It would not allow me to.

The mans ability to evoke different emotions and scenery for the mind.......is fantastic.
The entire soundtrack was wonderful.
This depresses me.
those who dislike this music/movie is "billy the kids" related
Those who dislike this music/movie should be incarcerated in the same prison cell WITH Billy the Kid.

Just knew this movie in 2017. I love it! Worth to watch it for three hours.
Thomas Newman is the best musician, ever.... maybe he his, yeah.
Listen to 'The War soundtrack - Gone Again'. Another of his which is staggering.
He draws out your emotions so much more. Music for Road to Perdition, awesome. American Beauty as well. Fried Greed Tomatoes. Heard he did the music for Six Feet Under.
I forgot to add White Oleander as well. Beautiful.
Don't forget Finding Nemo, Finding Dory, 1917, and The Shawshank Redemption.
@lilpep116 you're damn right on that one. its sad to see that none of the movies being made today can match up to what was made in the past.

The Green Mile: Perfect title for a movie like this
Thomas you did a brilliant job
Dieser film ist ein Meisterwerk und erzählt von der Geschichte der Liebe und Respekt und und besonders
"He killed them with they love. Now you see how it is. That's the way it is everyday. That's the way it is all over the world." Who hears this chilling speech and doesn't tear up??
i usally find it hard to cry , but the ending of this film and i was in tears it just triggered something.
