Quick search on the net...possible antidote to fructose: glycine and omega-3 fish. Sun light exposure is double edge sord. UV light speeding up aging, so better to get vitamin D from suplements...red light and IR light reversing aging. In order to avoid damaging effect of sun light be in open until 9AM, and after 3 pm. You can use artificial red light and IR irradiation to slow down skin aging.

At a previous job, I asked a 96 y.o. woman what her secret was (she looked and acted in her 70s). She said, "I avoid sugar." Feb 2020, I happened to run into her at the grocery store, she said, "Can you believe it, I'm turning 103 in April." She often crosses my mind and had planned on visiting her but the lockdown stopped that

Besides overexposure to the Sun, and excessive drinking and smoking, I think genetics plays the largest role in aging. I only recently started to reduce my sugar intake. And people always thought I was 10-15 yrs younger than my actual age. As a male at age 70, I still have most of my natural dirty blonde hair and a few facial wrinkles, except for my hands which were often exposed to the sun while working outdoors.

    • @leesteal4458

I've smoked cigarettes for 25 years.. I work outside in the sun all day most days.. I've always been extremely active and gotten plenty of exercise though.. I don't really watch what I eat but I do eat pretty healthy.. I think 99% of your health and how you age is genetics.. All people are not created equal..

I work 70-80 hours in the sun, all summer for 32 years now. I don't drink pop (soda), very little alcohol, and take alternately luke-warm and cold showers, never hot! I also cook most of my own food and garden as much as possible. I'm in my 50's and turn down women in their early 20's and college girls constantly. I've known people in my own family who got skin cancer, despite years of using sunscreen. Vitamin D3 production offsets sun exposure, as long as you don't strip off your natural sunscreen through hot showers.

Sadly, I have become highly resistant to diet vs. life span arguments. I know that some may actually be important, but the medical profession's pundits-for-cash-lot have caused this. I take these all as sketchy, because I don't know who to believe. All the book sellers have MD after their name and wear white coats in videos.
If I listened to them all, over my just under 80 years, I wouldn't eat sugar, fat, fructose, lactose, bread, milk, cheese, sandwich meat, beef, chicken skin, or drink wine or soda, not cook in most pans, not use plastic bags, no Tupperware, no MSG, no rice, few eggs, and no grilled meat or toast. And that's just the start of the list.
We need to move past the 'food pyramid' to the food balloon, where anything with nourishment is out of reach for humankind. Are there any nuts and berries that are safe?

To simplify, make the bulk of your diet unprocessed as you can, appropriate to your calorie needs. Get plenty of sleep, sunlight and exercise....job done. Now where is my white coat.
Other things you can do... cultivate friendships and relationships, be useful to your local community i.e. be useful, be in a relationship/friendship, be happy.
As humans, we are under genetic pressure to do these things. If you circumvent any of them, it creates mental and physical stress.

So i have drastically cut back on all forms of sugar intake but i do cheat on birthday celebrations and holidays. I am taking 10 mg statin to stabilize the plaques so they dont dislodge to cause a life threatening stroke. I agree: always read the label when you buy your groceries coupled with at least 150 minutes of exercise/week can can help us all live long and prosper.

I believe it was Eve that is to blame. She gave Adam, the apple (fructose) and we got kicked out of Paradise. High fructose consumption thru high fruit consumption nearly killed me by accelerating the metabolic dysfunction that I was already running with by consuming the standard American diet. Changed my life by pursuing a low carb / ketogenic lifestyle. At 70 years of age, my health has changed greatly. As you shop at stores and eat at restaurants, just realize Eve is holding out an apple to you.

I use oil like grapeseed oil to WASH my face, then rinse then put some more oil. No face creams or astringents or wipes. Then I use a thin layer of foundation, just to even out the skin tone, not gobs and gobs of different stuff like concealers and whatnot. Sleep on a satin pillow case. Don't wash your face too much or too often. Skip some days. I do eat some sweets but keep it low. I eat a plant based diet high in veggies and fruits and lots of fiber. If you eat it in fruit and vegetables without processing, assuming you’re not eating the really high content ones, at least it has fiber to slow down and blunt the impact on the liver. Sucrose is half fructose and half glucose. But just because something came from fruit, doesn’t make it healthy just because that’s where it came from originally.

    • @BHBM888

Berries and other fruits are very good for you because they have a bunch of antioxidants (cancer-fighting, anti-aging) to outweigh the small amounts of fructose and glucose (oxidants) that they contain. Additionally, it has fiber which slows down the digestive process (in a good way), which prevents the sugar spikes that you ordinarily get from refined/processed foods. Plus, they are much more filling, so you don't end up consuming as much sugar as you would with processed snacks and other sweets. Basically, don't stop eating fruit.

Many fruits including berries have substances that inhibit gylcation, so it's not the same as eating straight fructose or processed sugar. No one really knows the ideal diet or exercise regimen despite people proclaiming they do know. People that eat whole fruits in reasonable amounts are not known to have poor health outcomes and such people generally tend to have positive health outcomes.

What's more important, living a decently average lifespan that was fun filled, action packed with parties, where you were carefree all throughout your life, enjoyed all the foods and drinks that you loved and enjoyed, in moderation of course.
    OR
A really long life, where you are always lathering chemicals on your skin to stop sun damage and spending limited time playing, swimming and laying in the sun, never drink alcohol or enjoy smoking cigarettes, pot, cloves, etc. Never eat sugar, including fruit, honey, natural syrups and all the sweet drinks that qpply. Also, watch all those around you that you love and admire die faster and not get a chance to enjoy being human?
I'm on the fence, but each side doesn't seem better than the other when you really break it down, even if it means you avoid certain cancers and illnesses, those will happen eventually because of the state of the world today and the pollution that is killing us all right now!....
