    I like how you emphasize the importance of being able to hear the 1 and the 5 in the music. I think it would help if you used some kind of a hand gesture to point out the 1 in the music clips while you're explaining. Also, could you dance a little to demonstrate your explanations?

    Great explanation... I been dancing bachata for last 10 months and one thing I want to improve is identifying the difference between 1 and 5 in the music. ❤ I am listening to the music alot these days but could you please share the best option to find it ?

    • @DanceWithRasa
      @DanceWithRasa  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In simple terms, one is the beginning. Beginning of the sentence. It's where the voice or the instruments are high. If in doubt wait till a singer stops singing and starts again so to know where is the beginning of your sentence. Then follow the base 😉

  • @reefgratos2035

    Started to dance latin dances.. and i can't even see the difference between a salsa song and a bachata song.. since in dance classes, the teahcers put the song according to the dance, i don't have to worry. But as i am progressing, i need to understand those latin songs…which i am not a fan off to begin with, but i love to dance. So i really need to understand those songs.. i guess i need to listen more otherwise i could accidently dance bachata on salsa song. The second reason i need to understand bachata song is because im learning sensual bachata dance…not just the intro basic step stuff.. and im having very hard time learning sensual bachata.

    • @DanceWithRasa
      @DanceWithRasa  วันที่ผ่านมา

      @reefgratos2035 listening to music is key. Bachata music is slower then salsa usually. Also salsa has more instruments in it. Bachata only 4 or 5. So it's easier to tell them apart 😉.

    Rasa, “pri” is on beat 4 “vado” is beat on 1 not “privado” on 1, the emphasis is on “vado” the “ah” vowel, the distinction is important. If we refer to the music sheet of the song we will see this.

    8:45 , this usually happens after 4 bars of 8 count right? As an extra half bar of 4 counts. I use the bongo to count 1 to 8 while dancing

    • @DanceWithRasa
      @DanceWithRasa  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot of the times that's the case yes, I'm not a fan of counting, in the beginning to understand music it's a good idea, but later I would prefer people picking up the signs in the music to tell them things, training your ear as you train your muscles 💪

    • @DanceWithRasa
      @DanceWithRasa  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The breaks sometimes happen in that matter, but sometimes the breaks happen longer, and musicality we would need to start on 5. Or wait and start on 1. Not every break is the same length. Does that make sense ?

    • @iroau
      @iroau ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you @@DanceWithRasa . I my be wrong but I thought bachata is played in 4 sections of 8th bits (4x8bits) and break is an additional 4 bits after the 4th section. In other words break to me was additional 4 bits as we start again from 1 after that. But that was my understanding and I want to learn if that is correct or not. Yes I know sometimes break can be 8 bits so in this case we definitely start from 1.

    • @DanceWithRasa
      @DanceWithRasa  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @iroau you are absolutely right for the majority of songs. But dome romeo santos songs for example or Dominican bachata changes timing in the middle interrupting regular format. That's why important to pay attention.

    Please also listen to authentic bachata. Songs like the one played in this video is nice, but all of those types of songs are produced with a lot of digitization. That means that you lose many of the rhythmic, syncopations and authentic expressions that authentic Bachata is made out of. Therefore, it forces the listener to hang on tightly to the lyrics. And the dancer is compelled to dance lyrically, which is not a Dominican trait, culturally, but rather in European cultural trait in dance. Bachata at its core is about the rhythm. Compare the guitar solo in an authentic bachata to the song played in this video. You will notice much is lost from la guitarra que llora. Modern bachata without real bachata guitar unfortunately murders the bachatero.

    • @DanceWithRasa
      @DanceWithRasa  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree completely. I just had to choose smth it wouldn't demotisize the video. I will find one for authentic songs, too 😉.
