  • In this video, I discuss a new deck that has been doing well in the early days of Shadows of the Galaxy TCG - Red Rey aka Aggression Rey! This build is IMO quite solid and I provide a deck list, strategy rundown, and discussion of potential alternative options as well.
For a SWUDB link to the decklist I show in this video, see: swudb.com/deck...
If you're just getting into Star Wars Unlimited, you can check out my introductory articles at The Fifth Trooper blog over here: thefifthtroope...

I kind of like Kylo in this deck too. He can just add more exp and giving +2 really helps finish the game

Deck feels really good, one of the things I disliked in my testings of this particular version is the absence of Daring Raid, without it, Tarkintown feels really bad. You have to either swing into something, or finish off something that already killed one of your units. So you have this very feel bad moment of constantly be using the action to kill stuff that already killed one of your things, and that only had like a single point of life left. With Daring Raid you can kill 5 health stuff really cleanly for a single resource. Deck is overall solid though, I think it's just a matter of optimizing it from now on. Felt really good beating a Palpatine yellow earlier today at my LGS, in a third game where both of our decks were smaller than our discard piles. The insane amount of discard really helps against control, specially Crippling Authority, that was the card that I felt won me the game in the grand scheme of things.

What would you replace with Daring Raid?

I think you are spot on with Chirrutt being the more agro/rebel version. Have you tried r2 and moisture farmer with Rey? Seems like turn one playing either with an experience isnt too bad of a play

I tested r2 for a bit and didn’t love it but could see it being good… not fond of the tempo loss of spending two actions on the first turn, at least in games where you’re going first.

They need to make non hero and villain leader and make hero and villain bases. Hando should not be villainy; he should be Command and Cunning. He's not a good guy or a bad guy, that’s why he should have either of those aspects. To compensate for this, they could make bases that are only heroism or villainy. Exegol and Ahch-To are good examples of hero and villain bases. The force cave on Dagobah and the kyber crystal caves on Illum could be those type of bases too. Tho I think it could be interesting to build a deck with no hero or villainy aspects on the leader or base.

What about Kylo Ren in this deck? You can ignore his villainy aspect. He can pump up every unit in the deck with +2 and an experience token. Then again I’m not sure what you’d take out.

Tried this in testing but I heavily prefer Obi-wan in the 6 slot. The immediate impact of sentinel and having a death effect is far worth the stat block difference since Kylo doesn't do anything until 7 resource turn and even then only if opponent ignores him

Im really liking rey red. I think cantina braggart is sneaky good in it. A 3/4 when attack on turn 1 seems good to me

I tried cantina braggart for a while but problem is most decks running Cloud Riders will love ambushing it when it's a 0/3 and having the cloud rider live

I have really enjoyed Rey Vigilance. Double blue gives a strong midrange control style that is super fun to play. I need to try this red version but I dont have Poe yet

Rey does seem fairly decent though i think when people start to learn the play pattern itll fall off a bit. ive seen people definitely misplay into the discard plan.
But i do think itll extremely struggle vs bounce heavy decks like yellow boba since rey wont keep initiative and boba can easily undo the leader exp and discard plan will be too slow vs that deck imo.
Another stand out card that i think will see side board play is calculated lethality, it probably will be a massive blowout for rey if you say kill an rd with 2 exp or a wing then get that plus 2 on your board instead

Zeb Orrellios and IG-11 make for decent replacements, they do kind of the same thing, just not as versatile as Poe. IG-11 is maybe the better card of those two. Occupier Siege Tank (which is ironically not Villainy) has grit, and that's always nice, but the stat line isn't the best for its cost. Clan Challengers could work, overwhelm is great against small aggro units, and it could maybe fit into the Mandalorian synergy he mentioned. The Armorer also fits into the Mandalorian synergy, you've just got to have Mandalorians on the field when you play her.
Those options are all common or uncommon, so should be more affordable, but Zeb and the tank are SoR, so may be a little harder to find.
