I had just met my husband in 2007, when he told me I should listen to AFI and Sing the Sorrow (13 years married now), he was working as an artist in LA and hanging around the same clubs as these guys (and actually met Davey as well in LA, told me he was super nice), and at that time I was still going to art school in Finland and barely knew anything of AFI except that I had maybe seen one of their music videos on TV (Miss Murder), the imagery of that video kinda stuck with me. Catchy song too. It's actually a really good fucking song. I love the album as well, Decemberunderground, but for some reason... Crash Love is my favorite. My husband has been telling me that one day he will own this album on vinyl, and... been listening to that vow for a while now. I just bought it for him as a surprise ♥ I don't know when/how I will give it to him though. His birthday is coming up in March, but I don't think I can keep it as a secret for so long. I’m basically as old as this song , I am 15 years old. I am really great full to be listening to AFI at a young age , they’ve changed so much for me !! Much love from a young fan
I remember when this single was released Spring 2003. I was 16 years old and a sophomore at Camden County High School in Kingsland, GA. It was a different time back then. The War in Iraq was underway, Bush was President, Daredevil was in theaters and I had a crush on this girl that was a senior. It's amazing how music can take you back in time.
The musicianship with Daveys pipes is so incredible on every track he's ever been on. You can tell his vision and leadership carries through all AFI art. They've had a few changes over the years and directions and every track is 🔥
Thank God for AFI. I was 11 when I first heard this song and now I'm 30. This band introduced me to punk and hardcore. They were a huge influence on me when it came to music

Samantha Melton Yeah. They've got an album coming out at the end of the week. I'm a bit divided on some of the songs so far. Snow Cats and Aurelia really are great, White Offerings isn't my favorite but it's still pretty good. Not sure how I feel about 'Get Hurt' though.
This will always be my favorite song by them! My sisters and I would scream with the song every time it came on FUSE. To this day we will randomly yell with it when it pops up on a playlist or as a ringtone on our phones. Such a catchy song. I even dressed as the girl for halloween in 2013. Still get all fangirly whenever they play this song. It never gets old.

Davey Havok really is a tremendous lyricist and vocal performer. I WISH he would have taken the misfits up on their offer as lead singer. We’ll never know what could have been…
I'm sorry, AFI is much more relevant than the Misfits. Songs that relate to you on an personal level, or songs about stupid b movies that sucked even in their days. I'll take AFI
What’s crazy is as good as this track was as an opening single, it doesn’t hold a candle to “Dancing through Sunday” or “This Cellioud Dream” which never hit the radio. Great album.
Shout out to all my emo brothers, sisters, & everyone in between. The early 2000s yes had its cringey moments but damn the emo/goth/scene vibes were for real. This takes me right back ahhhhh beautiful.
I remember when they first dropped this, I was going through a very hard time. STS will forever be the soundtrack of my life. Been following this band since I was 10. I'm 36 now.
Singer: that emo kid you had in your algebra class freshman year Guitarist: punk rock draco malfoy Bassist: 1960s gangster Drummer: that guy who's always on the treadmill at your gym
My daughter was in love with these guys 20 years ago, and introduced to this song, Silver and Cold, Love like Winter, etc. I was 43. I remember playing this on Rock Band on the 2nd generation iPhone. Time flys.
@@frankiegarza3002 haha glad there's more! we're all missing our youth, there should be some emo/screamo/punk meet up in our respected cities!... blokes with make-up welcome haha (Australia here, Perth).
This song will always remind me of middle school. My mom would wake up me up for school and immediately put music on and this song had just come out. Good times
I was 32 when this came out. I remember hearing this on the radio for the first time- instant love. I had missed the DJ announcing who sang it. Man, that used to always piss me off. I repeated it in my head constantly until I got home and jumped on my computer and found it. I remember thinking, “How cool is that? I didn’t have to call any of my friends and try to sing it to them in the hopes that they knew it! Hell! I don’t even have to try to hear again the radio!”, oh ha ha. I grew up before the internet so I remember how hard it used to be to track down a good song before the internet.
I saw them in concert for the first time 10 years ago when i was 15 years old. I was OBSESSED with them when i was a teenager. I got to meet Davey(singer) and Adam(drummer) after the concert and got both their autographs(still have them to this day). Anyway when Davey came out i couldn't breathe and couldn't speak because I had a massive crush on him. I mentioned the sign i held up during the concert and he said he saw it and liked it. Btw guys Davey is short. I stand 5'7 and he was maybe an inch or 2 taller then me. After i got his autograph i said to him "I love you!" and he smiled. I will never forget that day and am still stoked i met him.
Omg I felt this comment in my bones, this is so cute! So happy for you, I also have been crushing on him really hard, and hope I will get to meet him one day as well lol
I am 41 now... I was in my 30's when this Glorious Album came out. Still SO Relevant today, as ot was then. Oh .. & if AFI reads this, my 1st & Favorite Video of u guys was Days of the Phoenix!! ABSOLUTE Genius, Dave, Jade & Adam!! Love Sing the Sorrows Album also, guys!!
Met these guys at the Hollywood palladium on their Black Sails tour with Offspring and L7, just normal everyday nice guys. Talked music and hung out awhile… so long ago but was like it was yesterday.
STS was on constant repeat when I was 15; this band took over my entire teenage life 20 years ago. Finally seeing them in concert (Carnivores tour) with Linkin Park and 30 Seconds to Mars was legitimately a religious experience for me. I sang and cried happy tears all through AFI’s 6 song set. Never let this music die.
AFI was a staple in my teenage to early twenties, I'm 35 now. AFI, H.I.M. and so many bands of this time forever hold a place in my heart.

One of those songs that transports me right back to the Summer of '03. Graduated high school and drove around all summer blasting this album.
@@chrisstandefer1473 Both, both is good
What’s crazy is as good as this track was as an opening single, it doesn’t hold a candle to “Dancing through Sunday” or “This Cellioud Dream” which never hit the radio. Great album.
i feel ashamed for being gen z and listening to this bc its so good but i wasnt old enough to experience the golden time of it all
Gosh! Idk why but I've been going through a phase where I've been listening to stuff I loved in middle school! Won't ever stop loving it! Lo!
This entire album is epic
This is so good but you must hear “The Wave” or “Whispering Wolf” by SLT 🤘🐺🎶🐺🤘
My god Davey looked so good back in this era! This is my favorite AFI song
Still love this at 34 in 2020.
It has passed 14 years and this song still sounds powerful!!!!
Shout out to all my emo brothers, sisters, & everyone in between. The early 2000s yes had its cringey moments but damn the emo/goth/scene vibes were for real. This takes me right back ahhhhh beautiful.
The 2000s (2000-2009) were never cringe lmao they were and still are badass
@@kingkrysen fuckin right

long live to this song
I was so obsessed with this band when I was a teenager
I remember when they first dropped this, I was going through a very hard time. STS will forever be the soundtrack of my life. Been following this band since I was 10. I'm 36 now.

A song and in fact an entire album that stood the test of time. 🤘🏻
Singer: that emo kid you had in your algebra class freshman year
Guitarist: punk rock draco malfoy
Bassist: 1960s gangster
Drummer: that guy who's always on the treadmill at your gym
Fucking aye lml
On point!
Treadmill drummer, too real.
Ok bassist is punk rock draco malfoy or the more obvious lookalike billy idol, guitarist is 1960s gangster
That was Great! I gotta good laugh 😃
One of my fave tracks by AFI. Gonna play it on my radio show next week. Give the boys a bit of a boost!
Time flies man. It feels like just yesterday that I discovered these guys in high school.
My daughter was in love with these guys 20 years ago, and introduced to this song, Silver and Cold, Love like Winter, etc. I was 43. I remember playing this on Rock Band on the 2nd generation iPhone. Time flys.

Love that there's so many other 30 somethings still loving this band ❤️
This song will always remind me of middle school. My mom would wake up me up for school and immediately put music on and this song had just come out. Good times
This is so good but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” or “The Wave” by SLT 🤘🎧
I was 32 when this came out. I remember hearing this on the radio for the first time- instant love. I had missed the DJ announcing who sang it. Man, that used to always piss me off.
I repeated it in my head constantly until I got home and jumped on my computer and found it. I remember thinking, “How cool is that? I didn’t have to call any of my friends and try to sing it to them in the hopes that they knew it! Hell! I don’t even have to try to hear again the radio!”, oh ha ha.
I grew up before the internet so I remember how hard it used to be to track down a good song before the internet.

Man I wish I knew how much I would miss the early 2000's back then
I hadn't heard this song in probably 10-15 years. Wow, it still brings me chill like the first time. Awesome.
What a classic. And this band still crushes it live, all Dad-age.
Kick ass band,, oh and I'm 53 years old.
You sure are
Never realized how fantastic the lyrics to this song are until today and I have known this song for a long ass time
such revelations understood by no one

Cuando no existía TH-cam y tenias que esperar por la tarde para verlos por MTV.. buenos tiempos aquellos.. 😎🖤🔥🎵🎶🇵🇪🤘🏻

Mathematically impossible seeing as this album came out in 2003….
Stunning video. Definitely deserved that VMA 19 years ago.
I may be 14, when these songs came out I was too young to really know
But my god I'm making up for it now! I will forever listen to this band!
Best concert I've ever been. Too they rocked.
Same. I saw them in 07, it was bonkers
Met these guys at the Hollywood palladium on their Black Sails tour with Offspring and L7, just normal everyday nice guys. Talked music and hung out awhile… so long ago but was like it was yesterday.
Que banda tan del carajo, toda su discografía me enloquece. OJALA regresen a Colombia y pueda verlos de nuevo.
Love how the drummer fumbles the stick at 1:27
That's a stick flip, very intentional, especially awesome since this is very pre luke holland
Everyone's gotta pray with Davey too! All Davey's songs are prayers! I love you Davey! 🤗
