Just sitting here at 38 years old, engineering some software, being an adult. I don't know why, but I thought about The Used for the first time in decades. Put on a box full of sharp objects, was like being back in high school again. Just pure nostalgia. Look over in the related, see The Taste Of Ink. "I remember this song I think?". Click it, that opening lick happens, and I just stop what I'm doing and listen, crying by the end of it. It's like one of my deepest memories that picked over 20 years to lay dormant and then all of the sudden knock me over. I remember everything now, every little detail of that time. It's absolutely insane how much gets tied to songs, and apparently forgotten until the song finds it's way back.
I miss these days so much. The Used, Taking Back Sunday, Senses Fail, Saosin, Finch... and so many other great bands helped me get through an otherwise shitty adolescence. Just wish today's kids appreciated bands like these more, and got to experience shows like we did. I can't even remember the last time I saw a garage band practicing...
ok im gonna be straight forward here, im 14, and like all the 'emo' music my parents listened to then, like the used. mcr and a bunch of other stuff and if time travel was a thing id definitely go back to when all of this was just getting really awesome because nobody else now really gets the music i listen to. ive had a few people i know in my school say the bands i like are "mid level at best" but i feel like nobody really pays attention to how meaningful these songs are. my friends say i was born in the wrong decade hahhah, and i really agree with them because all i wish i had was that 2004 or 2005 scene still because at that time rock music was really at its redefining point and there was a lot going around creatively that i wish was still appreciated today.

Oh, and they are out on the road busting their asses to get the recognition they deserve, just like The Used and all of the other bands that you mentioned did back in the day.

I saw The Used sing this live circa 2001 in a San Diego basement club. TAKE ME BACK! Then full circle at the last Warped Tour a few years ago. Always a jam. 🖤
I loved this song growing up so much seen the video many times . How the hell did i miss the ke70 station wagon in the video! A car which later in life also became close to my heart. Makes me love it even more
This song reminds me of one of the best times of my life. Nintendo GameCube, moving 500 miles away from everyone I knew and the feeling that life is so worth living.
When I was 18 or 19 I decided to go for Quinn's hairstyle lol! Took a lot of bleaching to go from brown to blonde. It was my late "phase" as they say hahaha. I then went for the mohawk and kept the tips blonde lol. Then I went for the all-brown mohawk, which was sick.
I love this song still. I was like 15 when it came out. Man I miss high-school. I hated it when I was there. But I'd give anything to go back even just for one day. Enjoy your youth. It goes by fast af. Now I got 2 kids and back problems but I still love this song 🎵 ❤️
I never really understood this song, but the true meaning behind it is really nice… I always assumed it was way more emo than it is! Bert had just gotten clean off meth and was extremely depressed and working with a new band and wanted to prove himself by writing the song at 4am.. the taste of ink is his desperation in writing the music and it being his only shot at freedom and success. The song originally had a darker chorus but when they got picked up and went to LA from Ohio, they all felt like this is it! It’s in our hands! Let’s savor every moment of it! And that’s that! It’s about a depressed guy struggling to stay clean in a horrible town and finding some friends who helped him stay clean and get out of that shitty town! Pretty nice. He’s still clean and doing well to this day too, so that’s nice!

Takes me back to high school when time was kind and life was brighter
I first time heard this song was when I was15 years old. I'm now 34 and I still love this song!
Such nostalgia to my adolescence ❤
damn this album was my high school life, i remember so many great nights listening to this album.
thank god i found this album on the floor in my brothers room. changed my life fr
This band got me through high school! And randomly popped up in my feed when I was in such a bad mood now I’m almost in tears from joy 💜💜
Same bro this album and band is therapy 🤟🏼🥁🎸
Being an adult and having to work 5-2 the "it's 4 o'clock in the fucking morning" hits different now
The Used is you
The Used is me
THE USED FOR PRESIDENT!!!!
I have hailed this album to be single handedly responsible for saving my life at 15, all while wishing I was "on my own" already and "hated" high school...I'm now 34 and I'd give a fucking arm to go back to this time and re-experience this again.
Can confirm, 33 years here and what I would give to live high school days again
im thinking of my dead friend, im thinking of my ex-- I'm thinking of everthing
Memories unlocked 🥺 ❤
I used to listen to this song every morning before heading out to school.
Who Listeng 2022???🤘🇵🇪
I'm 27 years old never heard this band I'm so sad i didn't find them earlier there amazing and they still make music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! fuckin rad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw The Used sing this live circa 2001 in a San Diego basement club. TAKE ME BACK! Then full circle at the last Warped Tour a few years ago. Always a jam. 🖤
If you walked into a house party after a Friday night football game and heard this. You knew it was about to be a long night! Yes I’m old now
2022 baby and this song is still a banger!!! When I think of The Used this is what comes to mind!!!
make it 2023 for me and a daily!
it's 2023 you dummy
Then I went for the all-brown mohawk, which was sick.
yoo that's cool
I love this song still. I was like 15 when it came out. Man I miss high-school. I hated it when I was there. But I'd give anything to go back even just for one day. Enjoy your youth. It goes by fast af. Now I got 2 kids and back problems but I still love this song 🎵 ❤️
❤️

im 38 and i come back to this all the time
My first love!!! The Used! ❤
Best song in history
He’s still clean and doing well to this day too, so that’s nice!
wow that’s beautiful man thanks for sharing 😊
Ohio? They are from Utah
@@thewanderingnord watch Maybe Memories. definitely Ohio
@Sher Utah. Specifically, Orem Utah. I know this for a fact.
