Hey, miss murder, can I Hey, miss murder, can I Make beauty stay if I Take my life? With just a look they shook And heavens bowed before him Simply a look can break your heart The stars that pierce the sky He left them all behind We're left to wonder why He left us all behind Hey, miss murder, can I Hey, miss murder, can I Make beauty stay if I Take my life? Dreams of his crash won't pass Oh, how they all adored him Beauty will last when spiraled down The stars that mystify He left them all behind And how his children cry He left us all behind Hey, miss murder, can I Hey, miss murder, can I Make beauty stay if I Take my life? What's the hook, the twist within this verbose mystery? I would gladly bet my life upon it. That the ghost you love, your ray of light will fizzle out Without hope Hope We're the empty set just floating through wrapped, in skin Ever searching for what we were promised Reaching for that golden ring we'd never let go Who would ever let us put our filthy hands upon it? Hey, miss murder, can I Hey, miss murder, can I Make beauty stay if I Take my life? Hey, miss murder, can I Hey, miss murder, can I Make beauty stay if I Take my life?

Everyone goes through the occasional phase. I, myself went through a Goth phase about halfway through high school. I've learned 2 lessons from it: 1) These phases can (and usually do) help you discover who you are, over time. 2) They tend to open your mind to new ideas, cultures, art, etc. - essentially broadening your perspective. In my case, it helped me exhume a part of myself that I concealed & buried when I was about 6 or 7 because I was very different from Everyone around me and knew I'd become a target if I didn't "blend in".
I was a goth all through my middle and high school years. I didn't wear all black, but my mentality was one in the same, so I got lumped with them. it taught me to never turn someone away cuz their different, and to appreciate what I had, because there are people with less. and the gothic kids already thought we had so little as is. Then those weird ass Emo kids came in and destroyed Gothic as a group. Now everyone things Goth and Emo are similar. Goths are fixated on death because it comes for us all, we were usually kids who experienced adult situations as children, or who were forced to grow up early. Emo is just a phase kids go through when they realize they ugly and love isn't blind and wanna kill themselves over it. Nothing like a Goth.
@@erikurizita6702 That's one of the reasons I ultimately rejected labels unless it serves some purpose. Trend followers present a poor image out of their need for attention, while those of us who simply embrace who we are have to waste time & energy combatting any association with that sort. I almost feel sorry for them bc they still haven't figured out who they are, and are desperately grasping for identity & validation. If it weren't for the fact that I spent so long hiding those parts of myself, I doubt I'd feel any empathy for the majority of them.
I was a hippie. A Hip hopper.. Gothchick, Alterna-angsty-Courtney Love, Club kid at Limelight n Tunnel,. All those eras have a part of my soul. You can be all those parts.. Why do u worry about labels? Free ur mind and don't judge fit in to a certain label. I have this wonderful freedom of not giving any fucks what anyone thinks of me. Once you stop defining urself and others it's beautiful. I am all these personalities, and still me.. I saw AFI in May of 1997 in Denver, Colorado at a festival at Red Rocks Amphitheatre when they were a hardcore punk band. They were definately trying to make a name for themselves at that time. I love the newer stuff just as well, "Sing the Sorrow" is a great album, it would be great to see them in concert again!
@@DeadSmoke813 and yet you obviously went though the comments enough to find this one, read it, and reply, all presumably while letting this play in the background
I played that whole album on repeat. Too many people complained that it wasn't like or as good as Sing the Sorrow, but then they probably never listened to any of their older stuff and noticed how much they change with each album.
The Answer That through Shut Your Mouth era was just straight in your face hardcore punk. Their style didn't start to shift until Jade Puget came into the fold. Their golden era to me was Black Sails, Art of Drowning, and the All Hallows EP. Sing the Sorrow was okay in its own right. It was different, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I mean, it was 2003. But, when Decemberunderground came out, they had completely lost touch with their roots and gone way too far into the pop side. That was kind of the beginning of the end of AFI for me. They haven't really put out a spectacular album since Sing the Sorrow.

This music video is part of my childhood and I was kinda a tiny bit scared of it for some reason
obsessively listened to this song & watched this music video as a 15 year old girl. really introduced me into this scene. now here i am, 27 and still mesmerized by this song, his vocals esp at the end, the bass/drums, video, everything. good songs & good bands are timeless
things seemed better back then, theyres not much individual style anymore with teens/people these days

My mom is 34 or something and she loves AFI, even got me to start listening. Now I love this song, Silver and Cold is my 2nd fav.
I caught onto this wonderful group when my son was playing their first CD constantly. Used to take him to his after school clubs with this played at high volume - what the other parents must have thought ?
I inherited the CD when he emigrated to USA but I still have it in my car.
Is your mum single?
If you haven't you should listen to their first few albums. I still have them all on 7".

This is what I brought you this you can keep,
this is what I brought you may forget me.
I promised to depart just promise one thing,
kiss my eyes and lay me to sleep.
This is what I brought you this you can keep,
this is what I brought you may forget me.
I promise you my heart just promise to sing,

Hey, miss murder, can I
Hey, miss murder, can I
Make beauty stay if I
Take my life?
With just a look they shook
And heavens bowed before him
Simply a look can break your heart
The stars that pierce the sky
He left them all behind
We're left to wonder why
He left us all behind
Hey, miss murder, can I
Hey, miss murder, can I
Make beauty stay if I
Take my life?
Dreams of his crash won't pass
Oh, how they all adored him
Beauty will last when spiraled down
The stars that mystify
He left them all behind
And how his children cry
He left us all behind
Hey, miss murder, can I
Hey, miss murder, can I
Make beauty stay if I
Take my life?
What's the hook, the twist within this verbose mystery?
I would gladly bet my life upon it.
That the ghost you love, your ray of light will fizzle out
Without hope
Hope
We're the empty set just floating through wrapped, in skin
Ever searching for what we were promised
Reaching for that golden ring we'd never let go
Who would ever let us put our filthy hands upon it?
Hey, miss murder, can I
Hey, miss murder, can I
Make beauty stay if I
Take my life?
Hey, miss murder, can I
Hey, miss murder, can I
Make beauty stay if I
Take my life?

Davey Havoc is one of the most underrated and talented musicians in music. People don’t really understand everything he has done in the industry and what he continues to do outside of music. His voice alone is one of the best my generation has experienced!

68 years here and that song is outstanding!
Everyone goes through the occasional phase. I, myself went through a Goth phase about halfway through high school.
I've learned 2 lessons from it:
1) These phases can (and usually do) help you discover who you are, over time.
I love all these different music genres, the fact that I feel like Joan Jett one day and Stevie Nicks the next and on and on . No one can put me in a category and I love that.
@@erikurizita6702 Have you watched the South Park episode about Hot Topic and the Vampire kids? Also plenty of emo kids went through fucked up shit... wasn't just a phase for some IMO

Decemberunderground is a masterpiece
