    Number one tip - have A LOT of boxes, bags, and newspaper ready to go for people who are buying multiple and/or fragile items!

    I've done a number of garage sales and the one thing I can't stand is early birds! If I advertised it for 8:00, it's because I'm not going to be available at 7:30, otherwise I would have advertised it for 7:30. It bothers me that people expect to be rewarded for showing up early while those that respect my wishes are penalized. Like you said, it's my show. As far as selling to resellers? Cash is cash and I don't care who's paying it but I don't coddle resellers. I have no problem saying no to them when they make low-ball offers. Does it hurt my sales? Not in the least. I've found that if I refrain from selling junk, my prices are fair and I'm willing to give a break to those buying multiple items, there's very little left sitting on my tables at the end of the day.

      I have had soo many.. I dislike Early Birds.. I would not do that to others.. I worked so long and into the night to morning.. not everything is out.. I'll have more to pull out. You can not watch the person and unpack. People 'steal' and I've fought people pulling off prices.. oh, and the thief I called her out.. 2 people showed up helped watching people. I Said pay for it or give it back I Will get your license and call the police.. And Park your car in the driveway or Block it.!! People pull up close, and try to hop in with STOLEN things.. it is the fact of Really? Stealing from me.and it was my daughters brats Lip phone. They got money for what they sold. Bugs me when I have .50 can I give you a quarter. Ok, then pays with a dollar.. petty maybe so, but I've done too many and scamming me wont work, if they dont like my prices, I say cool I didn't need to sell it.. IF some come up I know they don't have much, don't work arguing my price, , just nice respectful. I'll bag a few bags up and say 5.00 or less. && tell them get more at no charge. It's the attitudes for me..Love your Videos!! I had one woman who crocheted lap blankets for elderly homes. 1st she didnt say I have like 5 bags 5.00? Then I said wait!! I pulled out just about all the bags, I'm talking 25 plus.. and gave them too her.. she was so thankful with tears.. I hugged her..No, Thank You.. love hugs y'all

      I actually love when they haggle. It’s junk to me, better make 1 than nothing. I don’t care 🤷🏽‍♀️

    Having some space or boxes set aside that people can pile stuff into if needs be. Encourage them to buy more!

    We don't like early birds. We are never rude but we do say the sale doesn't start until X time and that we are still setting up so we appreciate their patience. It has always been accepted warmly. Our sales are usually 3-5 families combined at one house so the sale is pretty big. My husband and I host it ourselves. The neighbours always ask when our next sale is so they can add to it. Most of the items are donated to us and they will never accept a penny back. They just want their things gone. Really like your tips. W also have a free section close to the table as well as people can get greedy even if there is a limit. We have so many items this year that I'm having a pre-yardsale sale lol

    A few years ago we did a huge yard sale for an animal sanctuary. On the last day, in order to get rid of everything, we sold grocery bags for $5 and kitchen garbage bags for $10. The customer could fill their bag for that price with whatever was left over. When we did that, we actually made far more money than we did on the first day, and far quicker too

    Having a garage sale is work . In the spring, I plan to have a Dollar Sale . Nothing over $5. It should move pretty quickly . Thanks for the tips !

    My tip: Keep items sufficiently behind any barrier you might have until the sale opens. I've had dealers/resellers start filling their hands with anything they could reach before the sale even opens. Makes it hard to continue setting out items for sale if the early birds are already trying to paw thru things before the sale has even opened. Also clearly delineate where your sale stops. I've had people walk around me trying to get into my garage and even ask to use my bathroom.

    I loved you walking around w a twirling baton! I find clothes sell a lot better at my garage sales when they are hung up… which is a pain to do but the profit makes it worth the time to find hangers and hang them up. Lots of creative ways to do this on Pinterest w out owning clothing racks. ❤️ and appreciate your channel. Have learned a lot.

    Thank you again!

    Lots of fluorescent signs with arrows and address with a bold sharpie. Pick your sign up after the sale, don’t be a jerk and leave them. Also many towns have consignment / thrift stores with numerous inside vendors who resell, make fliers for them and encourage them to buy bulk lots 😊

    Sometimes I separate things by price, like a table with $1 items, or $5 items. Then I will price what doesn’t fit on those tables, have a little sign for clothes/shoes, artwork or any group of stuff that I want the same price. I will make volume deals, but where I live, there is a certain group of people who always make a large messy pile and offer you $1 for it or - no matter what your asking price - offer 10c or 25c. I just tell them NO and walk away, not sure if that discourages others or not.

    • @Kelly-nd3cz
      @Kelly-nd3cz ปีที่แล้ว

      That stinks to be them. If you have it priced it is priced for that amount period! I do the same thing so I’m with you on that. Watching it because I have a ton of stuff to get rid of and want it too be successful I like how Margret sets it up. 💜🤗🇺🇸🙏

    • @FlaNative3
      @FlaNative3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Kelly-nd3cz Yes, it works. I choose to price things because I am not good at making up prices on the fly, as they did - it makes the sale nerve-wracking for me🥴. I set everything up on tables (boxes, racks, etc.) in my garage the day(s) before, then label with quick prices the night before. You can also have a FREE box for things you would just donate. Then we move it all outside in the morning. My neighbor, instead of taking a lower price, adds to their pile until they are happy. Gets rid of more stuff that way!!
