  • An interview with Stephen Harrison the man behind Harrison Advanced Rods , one of Britian's top carp rod designers and builders. Harrison's use very high spec. carbon fiber to produce a whole range of rods and blanks, from fly rods through to lure rods. I first came across their rods after stopping to chat to a guy fishing for bass on a welsh beach with lures, he was raving about it and after he let me throw a couple of lures with it I understood why. The rod just did its job in an effortless way almost like an extension of my arm, the lightness, action and the retrieve felt a bit something i should have always been doing. www.harrisonrod...

    Wow just seeing this out of the box th-cam.com/users/postUgkxQr1yd4Zc6qJF-scTB6Zb9dQbVpviuRxB recommend I have yet to fish with this set up, but based on the first hands on appeal, I can tell this is going to change the way i pack and carry to a whole new level. If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.

    These Harrison rods are the go to rod for the type of Salmon out of the surf here in NZ. The 12' or 13' blanks with the low mount reel seats and the potential for long casting is what makes them so good. It was real good to come across this clip.

All hand-built by York rod builder Chas Burns. All beautiful to look at, strong, and wonderfully responsive. I have just ordered a set of three Aviator Pluses for long distance situations.

    the bottom line is sales,sales,sales.For this cem of an operation to succeed it
    needs to sell to survive and provide to people like us a special alternative of a
    custom rod maker who truly puts his heart and soul into every rod that he makes.
    İts not just the rod, but the knowing that they are there when we want one and we
    can get it, instead of one from a factory where thousands are made daily.İ
    think the difference is the soul factor.İf paul adams was impressed by this little
    operation,it means we feel the same in regards to the quality.So please post where
    and how we can obtain this product.Especialy people like me who are outside the UK.
    thank you.

      There is a link to Harrison website in the description it is www.harrisonrods.co.uk/ I really made the video because i was fascinated by the level of care that goes into these rods and also the story behind starting a rod building factory. What struck me about filming there was the way the staff talked about the materials and what they were doing in a way i recognized from making my own fishing lures and projects, although they were a lot more professional in their approach.

    Yeah, I have 2 handmade feeder rods.......And every year I look for new stuff....
    The more I look, and the more time passes by....I realize that my 2 handmade works of art are so wonderfully made that there is nothing on the market that comes close to what they do and how they look.
    I've started to appreciate why my uncle gave me his bamboo composite fishing rod (witch was a 3 piece take-down match and feeder), witch probably was handmade by a person who put his soul and heart into making a rod that lasts more than half a centuri and is still fully workable ... His only fishing rod that he used.

    I love the idea of a handmade fishing rod. Seems like anyone can get a machine to make a rod this day and age.

    • @PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman
      @PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Leland Holton I think you have enough money you probably could but a machine is not the only part of making an amazing fishing rod, when i made this film one thing that struck me was the care an attention to detail that the guys and girls using the machines put in as well, while i was filming they were describing what they were doing everything down to feel of carbon cloth and how it was behaving, that impressed me more than the kit, thanks

    • @RadDadisRad
      @RadDadisRad 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry that my little excerpt didn't convey what I meant. I like handmade. It's the quality along with fit and finish that I appreciate. It's like comparing mass produced luxury automobile to a Rolls Royce. You can try to compare but the visual similarities are about the only thing in common. Once you get into quality and finish the machine made ones have more failed blanks AND finished rods than any handmade rod. Also a person that handmakes a rod will generally help out the consumer of said product where a corporation will just have you send it in and they will send you another poorly made rod.
