Hey, do the new ones still use a VFD? Or did they go with the cheap blue LEDs? I can't find a picture good enough to be able to see.

When the power goes out the settings are not retained. The battery is good. I presume there is a capacitor that is employed to supply the energy, and that over time the cap has failed. Can you comment? Which cap...where his it in the board and what value?

Hi there, I just discovered your First Gen Bose Wave Help video. Super helpful and I applaud your efforts. Quick question is that I own an AWRC-1G and the Laser Pick-up is starting to fall and I need to source a vendor to replace. Can you provide any suggestions. Second, when installing a replacement laser pick-up to this specific model, is there any calibration or set-up required other than strictly/carefully replacing the laser unit? Again thanks a ton for your videos.

Hi - I have a bose AWR1-1W that makes no sound when turned on. When you turn it off, it buzzes once and shuts off. Looking for some help and direction. Where do I find a schematic? Is this considered a Gen 1 or 2? Thanks. Tom

Hi, your Wave needs the caps replaced. Sometimes the caps don't swell or split they just dry out of old age. Yes, that is the first Gen (1) Good luck.

I have one of the earliest models, didn't offer a cd at the time. One of my speakers isn't working is it worth fixing?

Hi, the non CD models AWR1-1W are significantly lower in cost. I would put it aside and purchase a replacement unit. Just not worth the time or money trouble shooting it, as it could be simple like a speaker or it could be the amp. You can find them in nice working condition for around $45 to $60 and you can keep the old one for parts or scrap. The CD models restored or refurbished on ebay start at $275 to $600 Have a good one...

Hi, what model is your unit? I am sorry I do not have the time to repair retail units anymore, but I might be able to walk you through a hard reset depending on the model. Thanks for watching buddy

    • @EightiesNut
      @EightiesNut  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Sorry its a bit lengthy, but here it goes... Turn the system off. Wait 30 seconds
Unplug the media center power cord from the power outlet
Unplug the audio input cable from the media center
Unplug the Acoustimass module power cord from the power outlet
Unplug the audio input cable from the Acoustimass module. Wait 30 seconds.
Reconnect the audio input cable to the Acoustimass module
Reconnect the audio input cable to the media center
Reconnect the Acoustimass module power cord
Reconnect the media center power cord
Wait for the words "Bose Lifestyle" to appear and disappear from the display before turning the system back on Good luck...

Hi. Do you sell spare parts for this Bose unit? And if not, where would you recommend I look . I believe my laser diode is going bad.

I am sorry I do not. I supply a remanufacture / reseller that refurbishes units, but they do not do retail repair and they do not sell any parts. Thanks...

The first generation is the best simply because you can access the cd laser easily to clean it

Yes, you are correct. I could not agree with you more.
