You have just stumbled onto the Eighties Nut channel, that's me! My channel is basically who I am, nerdy and funny. I try my best to post as often as I can with content that would either put a smile on your face or maybe teach you a thing or two that you may have not known. I absolutely loved the 80's, but I am also a huge fan of so many other great eras like the 50's, 60's, and 70's. I am an engineer and enjoy electronic and mechanical technology of the past and I am a huge fan of vintage, classic, and muscle cars, especially the old-school Camaros. If you enjoy 80's technology and things of the past or would like a laugh or two please don't hesitate to subscribe and check out my videos, I would very much appreciate it.

Can I ship my unit to you for repair?
Can I put any audio input in this amplifier? Or covert the rj45 ?
There was a seller on eBay that sold an audio converter a couple of years back, however I do not remember the sellers ID, but they do exist,
I have a little distortion going through my left speaker only with no adjustment available for volume and no other sound no matter what option I choose to listen to. Everything else seems to be working fine.
Hi, if it is doing that same sound during radio play and or CD play then more likely it is a bad audio cap.
What's the part called?
Hi, it's a blend door actuator.
You'll be there all month cleaning the entire car. You need a spray bottle or pump sprayer, bro.
Agreed, I keep my IPA in an old 3M twist nozzle spray bottle for the larger jobs.
Acetone?
Acetone is way too strong of a solvent it will strip away the clear coat causing light spots in the paint.
@EightiesNut 😲
Thanks for posting such an interesting and informative video! I need to replace my RCA jack (the RCA cable vibrates loose and the sound cuts in half and I need to push the cord back in to get the sound back) and I am not sure how to find it on Digikey. Is there a specific description I can use? Do I need to remove the board to solder the new jack or can I do it while it's still attached to the radio as is? Thank you!
Hi Steve, I am unsure of the part number to source the RCA jack terminal however I am sure Digikey has the terminal in stock. You would absolutely need to remove the board as the terminal is a through-hole mount. I hope it goes well.
I was there in the early 2010, And let me tell you, They were way better than my middle school days, I know most of my classmates, the events that took place, and most of the, the memories man. Ms Choy, Blackshire were my principles. Fun ride
I bet those were some amazing times for you there as it was such a remarkable school, thanks for sharing those memories!
@@EightiesNut my hope kinda is that my friends see this comment lol
I hope they do. May you have a great week.
On the sub woofer can you tell me what size fuse for this unit? Thank you!!
Hi, Is yours the Bose Acoustimass 6 III?
Mr Hunter was the man
Yes, he was a real class act. He helped and educated so many during his amazing time as a teacher. He finally retired in 2009 after 36 years.
@@EightiesNut Indeed, I'll always cherish the memories being in his class. I remember every Friday we would have a pizza party and play games as long as we did all our homework for the week. He taught us if we ate our dinner we get our dessert.
Hey excellent video Do you repair them for a cost ? Cuz my father passed away last year from covid and I kept it and it’s the same one In this video which it’s not playing the cd at all but it spins and number show but it doesn’t play. Do You repair them at a price ? If so please lmk asap !
Thank you very much, my condolences. I am sorry I do not do any type of retail repair anymore, I haven't in years.

Eucalyptus sap on my windshield. It’s like diamond and glass alcohol does absolutely nothing
This process with alcohol is not for glass. What you need are new single edge razor blades and Sprayway. The Sprayway will not be used as a glass cleaner but rather more of a lubricant so that you do not scratch the glass. Replace the blade at the first sign of dulling as dull blades will scratch your glass. Keep the blade in a very low angle as you are sliding it and you will go through the sap like butter. Good luck!
I’m going to try it. Thanks
My pleasure!
Your video was a great help !! Do you sell speakers ?
Thanks! I am sorry I do not.
Use a giant pixie straw, get it way back in muffler and use whole can let sit overnight then retry 🎉😂
Thanks a lot!
The pleasure is mine.
Awesome piece! RIP uncle
Thank you, he truly was an angel on earth.
can you convert the audio input into normal RCA connectors? instead of the propreitary RJ type connector.
Yes, there was an adapter kit years ago on eBay it's probably still available on there.
June 1980. I got my Huffy Sweet Thunder BMX bike because I did well at the dentist when he had to pull my tooth because it wouldn’t come out by itself. I made myself be a big girl and not cry and we went straight to ZayreS and got my bike. 🤗💜💫✨🤌🏾💅🏽
What an absolutely beautiful story. I am glad this video brought you a happy nostalgic memory. Thanks for the support!
@@EightiesNut Thank you for posting the video. Yes. It is a very sweet memory of my absolute favorite childhood bike. 💜💫✨
Amp looks great. Do you happen to know the ratio of black primer to semi-gloss? Are you using spray paint? Brand?
Thanks!, it is a 3:1 ratio. 3 parts semi-gloss to 1 part black primer. I have not had any luck matching with spray cans in the past, so I have only ever used automotive paint. You can try your luck with spray cans as it definitely won't cost as much. Good luck and thanks for the support.
@@EightiesNut Thank you for the info and video! I watched your whole video about the Dealership converting Z28's to IROC's 🙂 Sub'd
Thanks for the subscription, It's my pleasure. I have two IROC's now one complete weekend driver and one that's kind of a beater. I still drive the beater everywhere as I don't have to worry about it or door dings. In fact, the beater is a sleeper.
Hello, Great Video!. My Bose Wave doesn't play when first plugged in. It plays great after plugged in for a bit, seems like it needs to warm up. Is there a component that can be changed to fix this issue? I am handy with a soldering iron. Thanks
Hi, you need to use a good magnifier and check all CD related solder for cracks. Only one thing causes the issue you're having, cracked solder. You just need to find it and reflow it. As your unit heats up and expands it makes good contact at that point. Good luck
@@EightiesNut Thank you for the tip. I took it apart and poked around with a magnifying glass. It now works perfectly. Do you have experience with the SoundTouch series or the older Lifestyle series? I have some of those with a variety of issues. Not much info out there from people that actually worked on them.
I love Sandy so much
If she could speak, I am sure she would say the same back. Thank you so much...
Well, the design of the car , especially the suspension. It was never designed to do what the individual chose to do with it. Oh well, learn the hard way. !!!!
Hot rods break when they're going over 100 mph. These cars break when they're standing still
No nono
Hate that crap! Could have damages the car beside it. Should be outlawed. No reason for it. I've seen ot blow rims apart and almost kill people! It's went on long enough.
Done put that foot down 😂😂😂
What’s the difference between pro and comp models?
Hi, the Comp is basically a BMX racing bike with thin frame tubbing's, thin rims, and tires super light and in most cases 20" The Pro has a couple of factors size and strength frame size between 20" to 21" typically they have a thicker larger frame that is more heavy duty and robust with wider larger rims and tires I would even argue much stronger welds. The bikes play two completely different roles. One is made to be super light for racing and the other is made heavy duty to be able to take a beating and you would not want to use one for the other it's like having an all-terrain vehicle or a race car both awesome but made for two completely different things.
@@EightiesNutthank you for the reply and sorry for my late reply
I just came across your channel young man 👍🏾
Thank you! I hope you can stick around for many years to come.
Nice
Thanks! We will be making better quality videos as we go on, possibly even some livestreams with Sandy.
Excuse me, I have one and I just took it apart because I can't hear it, but there is no LED that lights up or which LED are you referring to?
Hi, the LED is located to the left of the red/white dip switches.
I used to have those same ones, they were awesome speakers. I bought mine from Zodys in San Jose. Man this video brought back memories. Thanks for posting...😊
If the system is plugged in Doesn’t turn on But the fuse and plug and power all have proper charges with voltmeter, what can be checked next?
Hi, next you should check the power transformer.
Looks fantastic, watched the whole video. Sad that I lost audio from about 17:30 to 20:00 but you did a great job.
Thanks! I realized I should have placed it on a turn-style after I completed it. I need to purchase a powered one as I can't find my manual one but I think the powered one would be better than spinning it by hand. Yes, it looks like 17:30 to 20:00 was muted due to copyright music. Thanks for the support.
bro i still have a rockford punch 45 that still plays the best .
Oh, the Punch 45 is very nostalgic for me. I used it back in the day, for years in my 68 Skylark GS it pushed my "The Punch 6" subs" (mids) in my doors. It truly was a little beast. I still have it somewhere. In the trunk I had two Cerwin Vega 12" home subs before Cerwin Vega made car audio, they were mounted to a baffle board behind my rear seats and the trunk was used as the sub box, free-air. They hit hard and my punch 100 ran cool and never overheated as the subs were 8ohms. For the rear deck, I ran Pioneer 3-way 6x9's Dang! they were good times... Thanks for the support, have a great day buddy!
Gremlins first blood legend brevely hills cop the back to the future
Those were all blockbusters. Did you see them and just didnt know or never seen them? If the latter, you need to watch them man, awesome flicks!
@@tellurye I seen them
1 wrong,but I hadn't seen it in 37 years..
Is there a way to block it?
Maybe I should just insert more bags like 3 or 4. I have plenty of bags so I will try again.
Any ideas why one of these hum and crackle slightly while on and while off. I suspect a ic failure or something allowing voltage to pass. But what boggles me is the noise when the system is powered off
It could be so many things, but if I had to guess without physically inspecting it I would think a bad ground/open circuit or a failing cap.
You would think Bose would research the faults and correct them ! Their couldn’t care attitude makes customers think I won’t buy Bose again! That’s the feeling I get! However it’s good you done this video and pass on info that may help customers! 🛠😁
Hi, do you still have the unit?
Hi, yes I do.
DATSUN 620 CUSTOM NISSAN HARDBODY JVC KENWOOD SOUND PART 2 GEN OIL N MODE
I am pretty sure a New Hope was released 1978
You almost got it. The correct answer is 1977. Thanks for watching I hope you enjoyed the trivia.
Mine is making an intermittent crackling noise on the left sub-woofer so I would say the base only works about 10% of the time and it now sounds like a cheap £5 radio haha! On inspection, I found nothing wrong with the speaker so I swapped the wires over as a basic test (the left speaker into the right plug & right speaker into the left plug). Still, the problem continued on the right speaker so the problem is not the speakers but the circuit to the left speaker. Any Idea what I need to look for or how I can fix it?
Hi, if it is doing that same sound during radio play and or CD play then more likely it is a bad cap.
@@EightiesNut ok thanks for that. And if you could educate me, what is a bad cap? Haha!
@@DeanCrowder I almost fell for that, hehe
@@EightiesNut No seriously, I honestly don't know.
Oh sorry, I thought you were kidding. I was talking about the amplifier capacitors on the PCB sometimes they swell or burst and sometimes they just dry out. In the process of failing but not yet failed, you could get chirping sounds or hums, I would just replace all the caps as that will make the sound amazing again. Through time old caps will change the sound quality and because it's gradual slight changes and not drastic changes most people wont notice it. I notice the sound difference immediately because I am so used to listing to them. I could till a unit with new caps compared to a unit with old caps.
Thank you so much bro!! I actually have black BMW and it looks the same thing I tried hand sanitizer and it didn’t work
The pleasure is all mine. Happy I helped.

I am needing to replace my 3.5mm audio input for my bose Soundwave II. Ive scoured the internet for the possible replacement part, but am not confident enough in my findings to make the purchase. Could you please advise?
Hi, you can purchase it directly from Digikey They have all of the electronic components in stock RCA input jacks.
@@EightiesNut thank u!
Hola se pude remplazar la entrada por una entrada normal (input) si es si me pides explicar como gracias
Hi, by normal do you mean RCA jacks?
are you still able to answer questions about this PS 18 module I did everything you said and everything checks out you said to measure the Moss fits but they look like I used to me how would I measure one is it possible to do that with a meter thanks Bill
moss fits look like ics
Hi, an amplifier MOSFET is typically mounted onto a heatsink (aluminum) to dissipate the heat that the MOSFET produces. That is why so many amplifier housings are made of aluminum as the entire housing is used to despite heat. MOSFET's have four terminal leads however many have three and the ones that have four at times you may use only three, as you can use the source (S) as body (B) MOSFET lead terminals are source (S), gate (G), drain (D), and body (B)
