Is Wharariki the best West Coast beach in the South Island?

I think it is right up there with the very best!!
A 3 hr, 150km road trip from Nelson over the Takaka hill into Golden Bay provides the only access to the west coast at the very top of the south island.
Once past Puponga you have to negotiate a few kms of metal roads before arriving at the carpark next to the Holiday Park.
After a short 1km walk thru farmland, native bush and sand dunes you reach this spectacular beach on the rugged west coast.
Windswept sand dunes and sculpted cliffs frame the two archway islands that dominate the seascape, whilst secluded coves and tranquil rockpools are discoverable at every turn. The resident seal colony can often be seen bounding along the beach, whilst coastal birds dive playfully through the peppercress bushes that line the sand dunes.

Hmmmm...The coast around Kahurangi Lighthouse would come close but you maybe right. Check these pics from 2021.
