From time to time I still think about that blue cod, biting into that crispy outer coating then sinking my teeth further into the flaky succulent meat... 🤤🤤
I was surprised at first that you were able to travel during the current lockdown, but then I noticed the vlog date as 30/07/2021 in the description. :)
😁✌ yo Nikki happy Sunday. Glad you enjoyed the video mate, it was nice to visit Stewart Island after wondering for so many years what was on there hahaha
oh wow! i really liked the conclusion of the video showing the significance of being at the top and bottom of new zealand! how neat and awesome that you guys got to do this. Cheers!
It was very cool to make it to both Stewart Island and Stirling Point 🙂 Had to share it even though we thought we wrapped up the vlog! Very fortunate to have finally done this journey and our entire South Island trip for that matter. We managed to complete it about a week before NZ went back into lockdown!
Rakiura is an awesome place and so are the people that live there I’m walking to Doughboy bay up and over Adams hill from Mason bay in November Cheers for visiting my favourite place 😊
Here we go again,as soon as we get to the food segment and you watch Peter eat - those cravings are gonna hit, especially in these Covid ridden lockdown times for us poor sods living Auckland, and to watch you guys eating fush and chups and mussels ! I need some takeaways ! Oh yeah,I forgot,Stewart Island - nice !
Hahaha we're one of those sods too haven't left the house for weeks except the one time to get the vaccine jab 😂 lucky for us mums been keeping us real plump with her cooking 🍳 😄
Hi Peter & Yen. Another great video. The island look so peaceful. The blue cod so scrumptious. In Singapore their fish & chip usually use dory fish which is not nice. Thank you again for showing us another part New Zealand. 👍
Thank you 😊🙌 We have a good variety of fish for our fish and chips here but yea that blue cod was incredibly fresh and delicious! In Singapore we'd be going for the curry and salted egg crabs 🤤🤤
😅 yeah lockdown can be a bit of a bummer 🤞 we're out of it soon though the numbers are coming down quite a lot now. Thanks for watching and re watching the videos mate take care and have an awesome week ahead! Almost there letssss gooo
Glad you guys got decent weather for this trip😊. “That is…hot!” Haha not the word I was anticipating 🤣… the “perfectly perfect” blue cod looked amazing! Glad you guys are safe and hope lockdown ends soon. Stay safe and healthy guys and keep day dreaming of fresh blue cod fritters😋😋😋
Two more weeks and things might hopefully start easing up?? 🤞 we've been really good no complaints been enjoying watching shohei ohtani play baseball almost everyday hahaha. How about yourself? What have you been up to lately?
@@PeterandYen haha nice way to spend lockdown ⚾️😁🇯🇵. Glad you guys are getting some recharge time. You guys have been going full throttle traveling. As for me, been eating, eating, eating…and exploring😁.
Thanks, we appreciate another VLOG to take us away from our respective lockdowns! Steward Island would be perfect for a get away from it all, have another safe week in Auckland. Btw the fries do look very nice too!
I was lucky enough to fly to this beautiful island and stay for two nights in the hotel. I had time to visit the awesome protected sanctuary of Ulva island, a must for bird lovers! The unexpected highlight of my trip though was to join the locals at the airstrip to sing a Maori welcome home to a new born baby as he arrived from the mainland with his proud Mother. An absolute privilege that even eleven years on still makes me very emotional, something I will never forget.
Wonderful story and incredible views with the golden rays 😍😍 Ohhhh man that fried seafood and chips!! Salivating big time!! Cod is delicious, not sure if I ever tried blue cod though 🤔🤔 The broccoli brings healthiness. I got you, Yen!😂😂 Awesome place, you guys are lucky to be from such a wonderful country in terms of nature and wonders
Brought back memories - mainly of my very controlled breathing and focus on the horizon on that ferry journey! 🤮 But also the fact that the place is really tranquil and beautiful - which you've captured entirely.
😂 oooo no Tom, did the strait get you too? Yen was definitely feeling it on that boat ride too. Such a bumpy one. Do you normally get motion sickness or was it cause it was particularly bad?
I didn't fancy the ferry crossing and flew over, which was so much better. Stayed on the Island for 3 or 4 nights, which enabled a Kiwi spotting experience and plenty of walking, we also rented the e-bikes to ride out past Horseshoe Bay to the end of the sealed road. Staying a little longer also enabled a trip to Ulva Island a must for anyone who wants to see native NZ birds. That chain sculpture 11 minutes in has a counterpart at Bluff.
Thank you! We actually finished our whole South Island trip about a week and a bit before the lockdown so we've been in Level 4 the whole time too with the rest of Auckland 😅
Kai Kart is a cool looking spot! So true about cross-checking opening days/hours on Facebook. Happened to us a lot in Thailand! Those mussel fritters are huge! They have something similar in Turkey, but they are smaller. That blue cod looks so nice and juicy and fried to perfection
Ahhh the fish and chips were perfect at Kai cart 🤤 been thinking about that blue cod an awful lot lately... think I'm getting some fish and chips as soon as lockdown is over
Another awesome vlog guys! Didn't know you guys have the third-largest island :D It's a perfect time as Yen said to visit it. You guys have covered from the northern-most to the southern-most place of NZ 🎉 Omg that blue cod fish and chips is such a classic dish to have when you are near the sea. Love that it's so fresh and deep fried to perfection. I am craving deep fried fish now after watching this. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us guys! Hope you stay safe in Auckland with the current restrictions 😉
😁 we've covered a lot of New Zealand now which has been the huge plus side of the travel restrictions over the last year and a bit. Just been chilling during lockdown only went out to get out vaccination other than that just staying at home. What about you guys everything all good where you are?
Awww man, you made me so hungry Pete when you were eating that fish and chips. YUM! esp being on Stewart Island, right next to the sea. I wondered if you could stay there - good to know!

I'm going over there on Nov 3rd. Live in South Canterbury. I've seen the north and nearly all the south but never Stewart Island. I'm so excited! My 14 year old son died a month ago and I HAVE to get away and be by myself. Maybe smoke the odd joint and drink the odd beer. Can't bloody wait! Thanks for the video very awesome ❤️.
We're so very sorry for your terrible loss 😔❤️ can't imagine what you're going through. Wish we had some words of comfort for your agony but none would be enough. Our sincerest condolences ❤️❤️❤️
I lived there for two years and I think we got to see the lights maybe six times. Although one night it was absolutely stunning and made up for all the misses.
one of the oldest buildings in NZ! The house looks legit even considering being built by one man's hands 😝yay fish and chips! look at the steam coming out from the mussel! looks so fresh and yum! we could feel how good those are by seeing Peter's epic reaction! looks amazing!
Great fun on this island! Beautiful! Here on Newfoundland we also get 4 seasons in a day! It takes 6+hours by ferry to reach us...you would need meds Yen!
reminds me of tasmania, southern tip of NZ :> hehe, from victoria you can take a boat that ships you car over, ah Yen also get seasick - i never used that pills.. i usually just sit at the back haha. Steward island really feels like bruny island in tasmania, rocky roads, long winded, lots of trekking - also have as lighthouse :D haha that time we almost missed the ferry because of that. Fish and chips, nice :D choice mate haha.. broccoli yen XD hahah..would be great to see the southern light.. in tasmania you can also see that too at a certain time. i guess seeing tasmania is southern tip like stewart island maybe it has similar views :>
Pahahaha Tasmania the Stewart Island of Australia 🇦🇺 😂 interesting that you can see the southern lights from there too though especially since the north and south island are closer to the south pole 🤔
I was lucky enough to take my two boys to this amazing beautiful and friendly locals back in 2005 camping trip for two weeks, we were up at 6am and bed by 6pm, we did everything possible including going on the fishing boat my youngest boy 4yo caught his first blue cod, and im still thinking about this place, its was amazing.
The ferry costs more than I thought it would for 1 hour each way...Surprised....Wow! For that price we would have to stay for a while ...if the accommodation is affordable. Thanks for another great video.
No worries thank you for watching 😁 ✌ accommodation is fairly priced def good to consider a longer stay especially if you want to do some of the longer walks
Just a bit of additional knowledge about those trees. Although they do indicate the prevailing wind direction, their appearance is not due to the force of the wind but the salt spray carried by the wind. The salty air, over a period of time, kills off the growth on the exposed side of the tree. Hope this is helpful.
Another wonderful vlog ❤. The island is stunning, but I've heard that the sandflies are terrible. Ever thought of doing the great white shark diving in Foveaux Strait?
Yes!!! I really wanted to do that was super excited about it but unfortunately it was closed when we went 😅 gonna have to try that experience another time. Have you ever tried shark 🦈 diving before Daryl? The sandflies were about as bad as milford sounds
@@PeterandYen that's a shame 😕. I really want to but I want to get my PADI certification first so I can be lowered deeper. Sandflies are the worst and even defy winter...
I don't get travel sick easily, but when I do... The feeling is the worst! First you think you're going to die and next you actually hope for that to happen just to get it over with. What helps: staying outside/fresh air, keeping your eyes on the horizon and/or have someone knock you unconscious before the trip ;) I have some vague recollection of a short, inland flight in Botswana (heat increases nauseau with me) and just falling out of the plane when it landed and the door opened because I was not even half-conscious anymore. My compassionate family helped a lot though, by telling me I was a drama queen and I had to stop making such a fuss... Anyway, lovely images. I'd love to stay a little longer on Stewart Island, driving around on one of those New Zealand made UBCO scooters...
😅 wow that sounds pretty rough! Especially that trip to Botswana. Sounds like it added to the adventure though so there is a bit of a plus side right 😂 It's also interesting how everyone has their own ways of getting over it 🤔 yen's techniques are quite different.
@@PeterandYen Been to Africa a few times, but Botswana is pretty much the most spectacular country to visit. That and Namibia. Raising the bar for your future travel blogs here, guys! ;)
With a recommendation like that better add them both to our bucket lists. We really want to go Egypt and Morocco so more places to see when we eventually go to Africa 🤙
Hi Peter and Yen, first time commenting, but have been watching your videos for a few weeks now. Thanks for your recommendations. I’m visiting in August and I wonder if you recommend staying overnight. I’m interested in visiting Ulva Island as well.
Hiya 👋 Thanks for watching our videos! An overnight stay would make for a nicer pace to enjoy the island(s) fully. For us to hit all these spots and make it back to the ferry in time was a little on the rushed side. So definitely doable and enjoyable as a day trip but if you wanna go at a relaxing pace and/or see more places then an overnight stay would be better. You might also get the chance to see the southern lights (although it's rare we heard) but even if you don't the night sky there is supposed to be beautiful due to the lack of light pollution 🙂🌌
@@PeterandYen Memories, traveled over on the old ferry, 2and a half hrs. stayed near the lookout and watched many a sunset, 9-9:30. Seeing an arora at 10 years of age was incredible, it covered the whole sky, something else. I also saw one from Invercargill. Thanks for the memories, we walked everywhere with rain coats. Stay over next time.
A bit shorter video of Stewart Island comparing to others of yours. I’ve been there once for a week over New Year where it was amazing weather, birds and ocean view. This island needs sometime to walk around.
I known of this Island but never been before. It looks very peaceful, I'll add on my list. I was watching this pn an empty tummy (fasting), I'm not a big fan of fish and chips so I'm safe 🤣

@@PeterandYen I'd laugh more if it wasn't me that sandflies love the taste of too 🤣😀☹. I feel your pain Yen!!
😅 Lucky wifey has an excellent portable Sandfly trap 😂
Yum fish and chips! Nothing beats the taste of a freshly caught fish 😋
💯 facts
An excellent video . What month of the year were you there?
Hi Clive, glad you enjoyed the video we went during the winter months think it was July or August
That fish and chips looks amazing, but didn't see any tomato sauce, come on Peter that's not Kiwi mate, LOL.
😂😂 sometimes when the fish is super fresh I opt to put that sauce on the side... I know I know it's blasphemy
I've always wanted to go there.
Should make the trip once we're out of lockdown 😉 summer is a nice time
I don't get travel sick easily, but when I do... The feeling is the worst! First you think you're going to die and next you actually hope for that to happen just to get it over with.
What helps: staying outside/fresh air, keeping your eyes on the horizon and/or have someone knock you unconscious before the trip ;)
I have some vague recollection of a short, inland flight in Botswana (heat increases nauseau with me) and just falling out of the plane when it landed and the door opened because I was not even half-conscious anymore.
Sounds like it added to the adventure though so there is a bit of a plus side right 😂
It's also interesting how everyone has their own ways of getting over it 🤔 yen's techniques are quite different.
Another great video 😀
Cheers Russell ✌ 😁
This Island is beautiful I visited before COVID problems but is to cold for me 😃
Awesome hope you had a great visit 🤙 summer must be nice there with the Golden sand
Is there a Dunedin blog coming?
2 videos away 😉
Love New Zealand!
🇳🇿❤ sending the love right back to Vietnam 🇻🇳 ❤
That beach 😍
🇳🇿❤👌
They reckon Foveaux can get a bit lumpy .. Iv'e heard that eating ginger is good for that .
Thanks for the tip, yen can try that next time I'll try n pack a lil ginger 👍
@@PeterandYen Memories, traveled over on the old ferry, 2and a half hrs. stayed near the lookout and watched many a sunset, 9-9:30. Seeing an arora at 10 years of age was incredible, it covered the whole sky, something else. I also saw one from Invercargill. Thanks for the memories, we walked everywhere with rain coats. Stay over next time.
Wow that sounds amazing... seeing an aurora would be a massive life bucket list come true. So lucky to see it at a young age 😯
Mussels and blue cod omg this wasn't helping me in lock down looked delicious.. Craving for fish & chips now..
😂 we could do with some of that good stuff too right now
Now u can say you've been to every corner of NZ, literally.
😂 it's true... pretty chuffed with that accomplishment
A bit shorter video of Stewart Island comparing to others of yours. I’ve been there once for a week over New Year where it was amazing weather, birds and ocean view. This island needs sometime to walk around.
Definitely need a decent amount of time there however with the car we managed to travel around most of the roaded areas on the island 🏝 😁👍
hi there, Can someone take motorcycle on ferry to stewart islands?
btw, awesome volg. thank you so much.
I known of this Island but never been before. It looks very peaceful, I'll add on my list. I was watching this pn an empty tummy (fasting), I'm not a big fan of fish and chips so I'm safe 🤣
😂 waaaa surprising fish n chips are so comforting to eat though. All the best with the fast 👍 💪
@@PeterandYen I found the chips rarely crispy and the cut is big for my liking 🤣. Thanks, it's never easy losing weight 😭
Hahaha o nooo, that doesn't sound fun. Yen's been giving me the look lately while I'm in lockdown. You know the 👀 that says hmmm you're eating a lot 😂 can't blame her 😂
@@PeterandYen hahahaha I'm with Yen on this one. My husband has been having lot of midnight snack because he is staying up late watching anime 🤣
Oooo cool what anime is he watching at the moment?
Good to know 😌
Damn those fish and chips look to die for ❤️👍
They are delicious 🤤👍
There are three islands in New Zealand .. collective cry from the Chathams! 😁
My bad 😅 I should've been clearer in what I meant to say! We clarify it in the description though and we'll need to make a trip to the Chathams one day too 😆
Beautiful NZ
🌿🇳🇿❤
How was Stewart Island?
Wow, I can't believe 11 people lived in that cottage 😮
🤔 would have been quite the squeeze but would have kept the place nice and warm in winter
The blue cod must have been good who needs to have a second bite just stuff the whole thing in mmmm mmmm
😂 it was insane how good it tasted. Stuff dreams are made of 🤤
7:11 Perfection 💯💯❤️❤️
😁👌💕 Hope you've been well Seliama!
Have missed you guys😊
Likewise! Happy to see you pop up in our comments again ☺️💕
We’re you in bluff today (17 October) in a fish n chip shop I think I saw you
😁 we've been back in Auckland since lockdown. Must have been a doppelganger
@@PeterandYen oh ok thanks for the reply it because he looked like you and sounded like you
