I was told by a BMW rep that BMW have one of the biggest fan clubs in the car industry. The RWD system works so well on the 1 series plus other models which is a big buying point for a certain person, but BMW want more than just fans of the badge buying their cars. As most cars are FWD OR 4WD, BMW want to get on a similar market with company's like Audi and VW. I've also heard that Audi may be looking into the RWD system as well, not sure how true that is!!. I drive a 2014 120d M sport. I've drove a lot of different cars but no car drives like a BMW, that's why I own one now. Hopefully not all 1 series will be FWD in the future.

+julienjjj same here the 2 series coupe and I heard about the BMW 2 series crossover I never but that even if they pay me BMW should always be RWD even the crossover
One reason is probably because 1 series is hatchback only, USA markets favour sedan for some dumb reason, i don't get it, sedan cars are longer but don't have more trunk space,
I have the bmw 116i . And it is lovely. Before bmw i had seat leon yes there was plenty of back space but the car was not fan at all. Who cares back space rather then driving experience?
With BMW’s economy you really have to push to get the max. I have the F10 520d, I get a motorway average of 65mpg (had up to 69mpg). I get this by using eco pro mode, cruise control set to 70mph, plan ahead and most importantly switch your tyres from runflats to a decent pair of reinforced tyres.
Yay... FWD BMW... it will be cheaper. In production. But not for us. BMW with FWD and 4-cylinder diesel is just wrong... Proper BMW has 6-cylinder in-line petrol engine. Like e46 330i, or e39 530i. Less cylinders = less BMW.
I never use the back window, don't know what it's for (other than some moron eyeballing you in the mirror, which is why I point that at the floor too!). Everything from a van upwards gets on quite well with just wing mirrors.
Me too! Got a 1.6 n13 engine with 177hp rock solid, got 75kms running smooth 6k km for each oil change intervals... using 10w40 molygen, currently is at 25mpgs...dam i love my Car bro😢

@@revilo9725 agree. I bought a 2017 120i b48 in January and it‘s just so much fun to drive. And tbh I prefer the interior over the competition even though many people would disagree. But fuck them, I love my 1 series 😂
I had one. Loved it m135i. But rear doors are too pointy and long making opening in tight spaces hard esp with children in car seats in the back. The leg room is less than in a mini clubman.
I have a 116d ED, and I can tell you that I'm always amazed on how silent it is inside. The car you tried must have some kind of problem. Also, the space in the back seats is not great. that's true, but if you compare the middle seat with your review to the focus vs astra vs golf video, you show also that although those cars dont have the lump in the middle of the floor, you also need to put your legs aside because of the middle rear console does not allow any leg room. Rear Luggage is on par with Golf. So all in all.....these minus are not so minus..... Its just a bit mora expensive, but you can feel que diference when riding it, and on how amazing silent it is.
As a 2016 116D ED owner I can vouch for the Beema's smooth as heck drive, especially when in SPORT. Sport has drive feel to that of a petrol car whereas in Eco Pro, you can definitely feel you're driving a diesel. However, in Eco Pro the fuel economy is utter bliss. On average I get 56mpg in Eco Pro in very high traffic city runs. On the UK motorway it's constant 68mpg when doing 70mph in 5th gear (not 6th). Having said that, you'll get higher mpg in 6th but the torque isn't as great in 6th gear. Any ways, Sat Nav as standard makes this car better than other premium rivals.

And of course the 1-series and A3 are miles ahead
The A3 is a beautifully made car.
cockshield Yes. Tasteful design, big choice of trim levels and engines, technology, safety, comfort and all you need.
Dmitry L I totally agree the a class is not nice at all. The only reason people like it is for the badge
The rs3 in my opinion is the best in its class
That's because underneath, it is a Renault. Also, it is the most expensive of the bunch for whatever reason.
I own a bmw 1 series, now lemme tell ya
FAST AS FUK BOIIII
Will there ever be a Head 2 Head with the 1 series, A Class and Audi A3?
Can you review the m140 Please??
I know there are lots of other reviews out there for the car but I think Car wow reviews are the best in humble opinion 😁
Why did the audio make Matt sound like C-3PO😭
Mat, how is this compare to the previous f20 in term of ride comfort and handling?
M sport shadow edition with pro navigation n the interior looks amazing
I have a 118i, F20 generation. Really good. Brilliant drivability.
I've just bought an f21 118i I hope it treats me well. I found the seats to be quite constricted
Ok update , not as fun to drive as I thought
@@karimtemri1664 Which one is yours? And, which car did you have prior to it or next?
@@Marcoshary I used to own a Renault Modus which was a very light and easy to drive darty car. But it also felt cheaply made. My bmw 118i automatic feels way more "premium" but also kinda heavy. I'm thinking of getting a Fiat 500 abarth as a next car. If I manage to get promoted at my job and earn more I would love a used 10 year old porsche Cayman S.

Almost died without a carwow video!
The 225i? I think you meant the 125i right?...
+Rob Enne yeah... Silly me. All excited and forgot which BMW I was in... Looks the same from the driver's seat ;)
+carwow haha all good. So what would you choose? 125/225?
I wish we have the BMW 1 series back in the United States plus that hatchback it looks very cool
what do you have instead of 1 series
+John Kyon there's no replacement we have 2 series
We only get the 2 series coupe, not the 2 series minivan monstruosity.
+julienjjj same here the 2 series coupe and I heard about the BMW 2 series crossover I never but that even if they pay me BMW should always be RWD even the crossover
One reason is probably because 1 series is hatchback only, USA markets favour sedan for some dumb reason, i don't get it, sedan cars are longer but don't have more trunk space,
Keep on following u since previous channel. Great introduction to each cars! Great job
+Danny 6 (D6) thanks
Coz I'm living in Hong Kong with the right hand drive car as same as UK
I have the bmw 116i . And it is lovely. Before bmw i had seat leon yes there was plenty of back space but the car was not fan at all. Who cares back space rather then driving experience?
Is it fast?
@@EA-jg2ye in the very beginning no, but after you pass 3000 rpm , monster appears
335d ever driven one?
no need to make it fwd. you get this car because its rwd. otherwise you go for the better alrounder, the a3.
Who's here after seen the new 1 series
You should do a top 10 first car u should buy
That cone is the bane of all detailers, makes me shiver.
I used to watch car reviews from random channels but nowadays it seems I am addicted to your channel without noticing 😀 greetings from Istanbul ✋🏻
I've got one 120d M sport auto driving around corners in this car is awesome
I can't make out what he says about the diesel engines at 5:35.
Help?
I love my 2016 1 series m sport. I would never like it to be front wheel
Even if there are some vibration from the diesel, the A-class has the same diesel you find in Dacia 🙂
They should make two options, standard fwd or RWD and the other being the other drivetrain.
what's the deal with no one being able to park cars with a small back window? what about vans with no view? never had trouble myself.
I never use the back window, don't know what it's for (other than some moron eyeballing you in the mirror, which is why I point that at the floor too!). Everything from a van upwards gets on quite well with just wing mirrors.
I own a 2016 120i M Sport, and I won’t be selling it as it is the last of it’s breed
Me too! Got a 1.6 n13 engine with 177hp rock solid, got 75kms running smooth 6k km for each oil change intervals... using 10w40 molygen, currently is at 25mpgs...dam i love my Car bro😢
5:18 - when did you become Robocop?
0:08 Is that pylon always on the front?
The hump in there is in front wheel drive cars as well.
Can’t believe a BMW of this age doesn’t have cruise control as standard
Me neither. Even the m sport one doesn’t. I’m looking to get one and it’s not the cheapest to retrofit either but worth it
I have the 125i msport Shadow Edition Absolutely Great to Drive being rear wheel and excellent features 👍
Just bought a 2017 one today mate, test drove it was so much better than the CLA I owned before. I've owned them all tbh nothing beats a bimmer for driving pleasure out of its rivals for me
@@revilo9725 agree. I bought a 2017 120i b48 in January and it‘s just so much fun to drive.
And tbh I prefer the interior over the competition even though many people would disagree.
But fuck them, I love my 1 series 😂
My seat Ibiza is front wheel drive and it still get that stupid middle transmission area in the back even more than that BMW
why does matt sound like a fallout new vegas securitron at 5:18?
I had one. Loved it m135i. But rear doors are too pointy and long making opening in tight spaces hard esp with children in car seats in the back. The leg room is less than in a mini clubman.
You should test what's the biggest tv we can fit.
One thing i hate is the poor standard equipment, no cruise control, lumbar support
lumbar support is one of the cheapest options on the list, just tick the checkbox when you order and fogettaboutit
I ain't buying no fwd BMW
4:30 taking that bend is just beautiful 😍
The 1 series is the best hatchback!
@r g I agree.
@hmm m Real bMW IS Rearwheel
Mat sounds like Jarvis !!!
Pedro Guedes wash your ears BMW fanboy
A Golf is much bigger inside.
Also are cars available in the class with much better sound isolation.
And quieter diesel engines.
Is the xdrive available in the UK? I bought a m140i and the xdrive was euro only 😒
Wife has a lci 118i.I love to drive it...very fun car.
Another great review, Mat.
If I have to choose between spacing in the rear and fun to drive, I'll always go for the latter. Period!
FWD loool i have RWD 118i m performence and would never switch it to fwd. Not even m145i fwd
Will you review the bmw M140i before it stops production, or even compare to be golf r?
I really like this new background tune /music. It was awesome
2:11 Fuck this boot lid in particular.
1:54
"They do lie completely flat"
Me: that really doesn't look flat to me
Can we get a review of the facelifted Mercedes A-Class?
can you do an review of lexus ct 200h?
"Chris Evans cos he did 1 Serie" I died, brilliant joke :D
