Thanks for taking the time explaining this, but I believe that most of us are having trouble to understand why this is happening in the first place. my other excel sheets work just fine, but suddenly from today onwards, nothing gets send to back and brought forward. this is very strange and I can't find an explanation as to why this would happen out of the blue.
Inside the shape unfortunately, it doesn't solve typing into the cell and having it not appear on top of the shape as I was also hoping. Will continue searching! edit: insert shape, format how you like, then insert shape again but use text box and use that for the formula - that was easy lol
Hi Chester. I have previously (in a previous Excel) added my scanned signature from a file (Insert picture from a file), and did something to it that the signature was basically 'floating' over text and I could place it anywhere in my spreadsheet and only the signature lines were showing. When I try to do it now in Excel 365, the white background around the signature is blocking the text (or other pictures) behind it. When I use the transparency setting, it also makes the black line of the signature transparent (which of course, I do not want). When I try to remove the background of the signature picture, it also 'damages' the lines of the signature. Any suggestions or solution please.
You need to make sure the image file you use with your signature is in .png format with a transparent background. If you use a .jpg file the background will be white.
Excell is genuinely the most impossible programme i have ever used. I want this over mutiple cells. Why is this not possible?!
I FEEL U ! its a nightmare.
@@LironLevy-rb5no is there any way to cut out boxes in an image so that we can have cells editable on top of an image?

Thanks Chester - for explaining that very fiddly technique concisely.
Worked like a charm....many thanks!!
I want to put a Shape behind the texts and it would be placed between cells on the line, not inside a cell itself. Is it possible?
Same.
Thank you Chester for this useful trick
Great trick Chester. Thank you!!!
Made my day, my week, and my year!!! Thank you!🥰
To the point; no BS...very helpful. Thanks
You saved my life.... 👍👍
How do you do this on the mobile version of excel?
Is the text written inside the cell or inside the shape ?
inside the shape...
