Hi Kevin, first of all, thank you for your awesome videos!! Second, do you have video that shows how to create cells that change color when for example, a certificate is about to expire? So it can give visual alert or something like that...
@@KevinStratvert HELLO SIR, I REALLY ADMIRED YOUR VIDEO SHOWS IN TH-cam, ESPECIALLY ALL THE PORTION IN EXCEL BECAUSE I AM STUDYING EXCEL NOW. I REALLY FOUND YOUR SHOW VERY HELPFUL TO ME AND EASY TO UNDERSTAND. I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR EFFORT TO POST VIDEOS LIKE I SAID FOR IT WERE VERY HELPFUL TO ERSON LIKE ME WHO ARE EAGER TO STUDY THE ONE LIKE YOU POSTED. SIR, I APPEAL TO YOU TO POST FOR ME ABOUT MICROSOFT EXCEL 2019, OR THOSE EXCEL TOPICS THAT ARE APPLICABLE WITH EXCEL 2019 BECAUSE THIS IS THE ONE THAT I AM USING NOW, MORE PARTICULARLY ALL ABOUT THE TOPICS OF: WHAT IF ANALYSIS; PIVOT TABLES; CHARTS AND GRAPHICS; CREATING DATA LISTS; LINKING, AUTOMATING, AND SHARING SPREADSHEETS. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT SIR, THANK YOU.
Hi is it possible to do this in Excel? I want to add numbers (1-9) in Columns across the top and for the amount of 1s, 2s, 3s, etc to show up at the end in a kind of results section if you get what i mean. Imagine say 100 numbers in the top bar, left to right, is that rows or columns? beneath them being the numbers 1 to 9, ONLY those 9 numbers will be used, nothing above 10 etc, so in the cell below 17 there might be a 6 for example, and then after the first 100 numbers i would like a section that counts the numbers in those first 100 rows. Those would just be numbered 1 to 9 and would give how many 1s, 2s, etc are in those first 100 rows. Lets say of those 100 numbers, there are 53 numbers in the first 53 slots, ( i would have 100 rows as there may be more or less numbers in each row and you can never know how many so i need extra just in case. Some will be 1s, 2s, etc all the way up to 9s. I want the section at the end to show how many 1s are in there, 2s etc, then i can add a bit at the end of that to give me a total of those 9 rows if you get what i mean. It would be easier than having to count across the numbers how many 1s are in that section, then adding them in the counting area at the end and would be more accurate etc. Is that possible to do? Another one i wanted to do was a similar thing but with all numbers being counted as the main numbers 1 to 9 etc, so if there is a 53 for example, that would go in the 8 section as 5 plus 3 is 8 if you get my logic, is that possible to do in Excel? Thanks in advance. This is just for tracking lottery numbers, so if ball 59 came up, that would be a 5 number as 5+9=14 and 1+4=5 etc. It's got no accounting use as far as i am concerned.
A lot of what you shared I didn't know. As a school teacher, this is one of the most powerful tools to use when playing with data to accomplish a task, not only easily but quickly too. Thank you, Kevin, for the effort. Prepare another one showing more tips.
The video is fully loaded with important stuff with excel... What I learned : Data type geographic Xlookup Ideas Convert function Web data (power query) Thank you soooo much! :)
Kevin! I just love you!!! I started watching all of your tutorials about two weeks ago. I made a commitment to learn Microsoft Excel. Without being melodramatic, it is radically transforming my career and personal life: staying on top of my finances, helping me at work crunching data and staying on top of my schedule! Thank you thank you thank you thank you!
After watching about 15 minutes of your videos, I figured out how to create a sum by selecting the cell I want the sum in, entering the = sign, then clicking on the cell I want to subtract from, then hitting either the minus or add sign, then clicking on the cell I want to add or subtract, then hitting enter. EASIEST THING EVER!! Now my budget adjusts as commissions flow in and payments flow out. My life just became so much easier!!!
I must say it was a great experience. The tutorial covered a wide range of topics, including defining names for cells, absolute and relative cell reference, macros, data types, xlookup function, sum function, concatenate and flash fill, sumif function, countif function, IF function, calculating the difference between dates, adjusting column width and row height, freezing panes, pivot tables, drop-down lists, importing data from the web, collaborating with others, and commenting. The tutorial was well-organized and presented in a user-friendly manner. I appreciated the step-by-step approach and practical examples provided for each topic. The instructor was knowledgeable and engaging, making it easy to follow along and retain the information. The topics covered in the tutorial were very comprehensive and gave me a better understanding of how to use Excel more efficiently. I particularly enjoyed learning about the xlookup function and pivot tables, which have already proven to be useful in my work. Overall, I highly recommend this tutorial to anyone looking to improve their Excel skills. The topics covered were relevant and useful, and the tutorial was presented in a clear and concise manner. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced Excel user, there is something to be gained from this tutorial.
If you want to reference Kevin's videos in real life: Tip#1: use a computer not a phone TIP#2: Have your coffee so you can follow Tip#3: Don't blink He remains an awesome resource and read my mind regarding Excel! Many thanks KS! 😀
Simply excellent, Kevin! I've worked with Excel for a bunch of years and thought I knew "everything" about it! But some of your tips were new for me and extremely practical in daily use! So thanks a lot !!
Great at 81and former software developer then CEO/founder of Intl Software firm, I am still a computer keyboard junkie. Enjoyed watching your videos, MULTIPLE TIMES. At my age once is not enough.
I greatly appreciate this! I use excel a lot and was glad to learn how to use it more efficiently. I especially liked learning about macros! Thank you! Please keep posting.
Wow. This is really awesome. I really love the part where you convert the image to table. Never knew such a feature in Excel. Thanks Kevin for this useful tutorial video. Great content.
You show how to define name for one column. Good. if you want define names for all columns, I suggest to pick a cell in your table, press Ctrl+* for selecting everything and choose the tool in the ribbon Create from selection. It works if each column has a unique name.
Thank you, that was very useful. one of my favourite tips is to use the "Customise Quick Access Toolbar" at the top of the ribbon, add your most frequently used icons so that you don't need to keep going through the ribbon to find them, you can add via the "more commands" section in the drop down or simply right mouse click and "Add to Quick Access Toolbar". This saves me so many extra clicks in a day :)
Love the videos! Just a tip for anyone new to this (like me), with regards to tip 3, if you're unable to find 'Ideas' under your home tab, you may be labelled as 'Analyze Data', as that's where mine was. Good luck with everything!
Something better than macros. Using two tables and connect the relevant columns that would allow you to reproduce all the cookie types for each country for the third table. Any additional countries can be added to the relevant table and refresh to be updated in the third table!
Thanks. The first tip is just outstanding and life saving. Whenever I get a hard copy of a table, I had to type those to create a softcopy. Now just take a good photo and convert it to excel. Wow
18:56 Freeze Panes. Kevin, I find the easiest way to set the panes is to put the cursor in the top left corner of the cells you want to move (scroll either vertical or horizontal) and click the freeze button. So if you want to freeze the top two rows and the left two columns, simply place the cursor in cell C3 and select freeze panes. This sets all the parameters in just a couple of clicks. Great video. I did not know about the photo to Excel feature.
Kevin, thank you so much for share your knowledge with us. I work with excel everyday. These tricks will help me to reduce the time to complete my projects.
Hi Kevin, great information. I've learnt more about using Microsoft products watching your videos over the past year or so than I have using it for the past 10 years or so! Where have you been all my life? I'd love to know how to automatically set or lock sizes of photographs into a word document, say in a report style document. I spend more time trying to work out how to format a document than it takes me to write the information! Any tutorial would be appreciated. Cheers and thanks for your Topnotch videos.
hey Kevin, im really glad I happened upon your videos, I have been learning a lot! what I can't seem to find on your videos and, what I would really love to learn is, how can I make a custom template, that uses formulas, AND have the template with formulas repeat itself onto a following sheet.
Thanks Kevin..really useful tips .. PLEASE cover dependent drop down by extending primary data validation to more than 2-3 levels ..the 3 types using 1. index match 2. Offset 3. Indirect are bit confusing

Usefull tips, thanks Kevin
In the Tip No. 4 you can use "Create from selection" to define name for more colums
