Nice and simple explanation of how to use DDU. Two things I would like to add on top of this AG DDU YT tutorial. First one is to start DDU as Administrator and #2 to use Windows Safe Mode instead of Windows Normal mode for removing GPU drivers using DDU. Been using DDU since early development stage (also was helping about collecting data for more detailed GPU drivers cleanup procedure, working on DDU localization on serbian...) and from my own experience DDU in Windows Safe Mode is-the-way-to-go if you want GPU driver related to be perfectly cleaned. There is an option in DDU to restart Windows in Safe Mode, check it and close DDU, start DDU again as an Administrator, choose to restart Windows in Safe Mode and proceed, DDU will start automaticaly after Windows boots into Safe Mode and after that choose other options related to your specific case/needs. Keep up the good work AG!

@@AncientGameplays forgot to ask you how to do that. :| I know I can use the add or remove option from windows default software, wondering if there was a DDU way to do that.
Does the “prevent downloads of drivers from windows update” option in DDU (3:46) prevent the need to use RegEdit or set a group policy in order to stop windows from automatically updating the drivers? I’ve seen many people resort to these methods to prevent windows auto update from wrecking their drivers, but I’ve never seen anyone mention just using this option in DDU. Thanks!
Ahhh. Having only small issues with Adrenalin or current driver. Adrenalin sometimes isn’t open after PC startup, leading me to play a game and not get an instant replay recording, and some issues with Adrenalin crashing. Full safe mode DDU uninstall and driver reinstallation. New 7900XTX drivers, mine were a month old. Black Ops 6 is now crashing from AMD driver timeout before I can even join a match 💀😂
@ You’re right, I think it’s Activion’s issue and not AMD’s, although I’m not 100% sure. It’s HDR toggled in that is crashing it for me, I’ve discovered. When I had HDR enabled and alt-tab or windows key+D to desktop, Black Ops 6 black screens and crashes immediately. Then AMD Driver timeout screen pops up. Seems to be a black ops 6 issue and not a windows issue, I think? People on Reddit are reporting the same crash with HDR, and lots of other crashing for black ops 6. If you want to replicate it you can Windows key+alt+b to enable HDR and toggle HDR in black ops 6 and try to alt-tab, that’s what is giving me a 100% crash rate. No issues with HDR off. Thanks for the video! My Adrenalin software issues seem to be fixed
Hi, I used the recommended DDU settings in the emergency mode. How is it possible that after reinstalling the nvidia graphics driver the computer remembers the settings of all 3 monitors? Icon layout on each monitor, monitor hz settings ? What did I do wrong? I assumed it would be a clean install. thanks for the help.
i used the ddu method for a long time, but in the last full year with amd i've done a different kind of clean, I install the chipset and gpu driver with the normal installer, with no overwrite or clean option, BUT after the installation process i make a reboot, and i go directly in RAPR and manually delete all old driver, and one in while i just select all driver and clean it (obviosly not force cleaning) with this all driver that are not used in the system are wiped out.
I'm going to give this a go. My 240Hz display won't do anything faster than 75Hz- in game. I just went from a 2060 to a 7900 XT. 75Hz is the frame cap of my old display.
Thanks for the instructions!! Just wondering though, is it a must to do the uninstall/installing of drivers using DDU on safe mode? Or is it fine as it is?

Fabio I have a question. I am currently using laptop, should I install chipset driver from AMD or MSI? Because I have heard that chipset driver from mobo is more optimized for specific mobo. Is that true? I am currently using chipset driver from MSI and have tried from AMD but have no issues.
Hindsight I probably should have been here sooner. I actually switched from amd to intel motherboard back in July. Years ago when I had an rx550 I swapped it for a 1070ti. Just recently swapped my ssd for an nvme. Idk if this will help but I’m tryna fix some issues so this may help
Only one question, if I have already the latest chipset driver, would you uninstall it anyway before getting the new GPU driver and then reinstall it again? Or is ok just to remove the GPU drivers only in the DDU options?

Am i the only one right here, that doesn't use DDU if it's just updating the drivers ?😅, i used AMD automatic updater inside their Radeon Software, and i have zero crashes, bsod, drivers timeout, basically no problemo, but i'd use DDU if i want to change the drivers to the Amernime one or upgrading my GPU. Thank you Fabio for the tutorial 👍
Thank you for watching 💪
Best TIPS ever 10/10 bro!. Thanks
I always do a clean installation. :)
GOOD
u use DDU as explained on the video?
@@joelgrebinsilvestri i use DDU
I wasn't know that 5:25 new information thank you
I want to share a strange observation. After updating the AMD drivers, I always get stutters. At first I looked for what the problem was. Has concluded. The more often I run games, the smoother they run. Over time, statters disappear completely. The framerate is getting great. In about one week. I have a stock i7 5820k running at 2133MHz+6600xt I tried to overclock the memory but my favorite game Crossout crashes. Therefore, I left everything as it is.
Thats because of the shader cache loading. In your case since your CPU and ram are slower, it takes more time to load
@@AncientGameplays Thank's man. You really help with your tips and videos!
I have been also experiencing the same. Yesterday in the middle of the gaming my monitor went black I had to click the power button to shut it down and boot up again. After booting I notice in device manager my 6700xt was replaced by Microsoft basic display adapter. Updating windows fixed the issue but it introduced stutters. I've installed new and old drivers 3 times yet the stutters haven't been fixed
@@atharva107any update?
Excellent video Fabio. Please keep them coming! 💪
Thank you!
Hello brother. i went to the official site of ddu and when i start downloading it warned me like this in download box ( This file isn't commonly downloaded. Make sure you trust this file before you open it.) Please let me know what is this should i continue installing it or should i stop? i don't really wanna to install a malvare please leave me an answer to this comment pls.
It is fine, maybe your antivirus isn't that great, or it is windows malware system lol
@@AncientGameplays I appreciate your answer bro. now i can safely install it☺
@@AncientGameplays I tried from two different browsers first i tried Microsoft edge and it warned me like that but when i tried google it doesn't do same
I've been using DDU all my life, no problems. The last time there was a battle not with AMD drivers, but with the auto-update of Windows drivers, because of this, the pa-300 error appeared. After making sure that Genshin still crashes in the new drivers, I installed the ancient 22.5.1....🙃
yeah some games runs better on old drivers, this is where ddu becomes very handy
Thank you for this. Upgraded from a 3060 to a 4070 and was having some issues.
Dude thank you so much for the side note to update my chipset drivers along with GPU clean install.
Turns out my chipset drivers were horrendously out of date thanks to MSI not publishing the latest drivers like AMD does.
Now I need to figure out a way to be notified automatically by AMD when new chipset drivers are out...
Anyway thanks again and you have a good one! 👍
Wow I recently updated my motherboard drivers and assumed I was ok. I would have never thought to update chipset drivers directly from AMD. Thank you and subscribed
You're welcome. Check my video section if you want to 💪💪
@@AncientGameplays Is there an intel equivalent website or do you just have to go through your mobo vender? Is it not as significant to update the intel chipset? Thanks!
whats with that intro lil bro💀
Thank you so much for making this video. I can admit I failed to install/update my AMD chipset drivers along with updating my BIOS. When I did all this a few days ago my AMD video card no longer crashed on the new Adrenalin driver.
I know right? That's why I saily several times, most issues are user related
On 6:50 you say first install GPU driver and after install chipset driver or update chipset driver...is that not wrong?(almost in every search on net they say first install drivers chipset and then ,and only then the rest of the drivers, like GPU,sound card, etc.)!
Nope, chipset driver after
@@AncientGameplays Thank you for the quick replay , you are indeed one guy are help the gamers comunity much more than others ... keep the good work!💪
Good video for PC-beginners !
💪💪
Thank you so much!! I just asked about this I your last amd driver video. 😁
Great to see I delivered haha
Legend thank you, clear instructions👍🏻
Question, should you use DDU EVERY time you install the latest Nvida driver?
I use DDU since my old GTX 1070 bug performance...
Its a miracle!
Tô maratonando teu vídeos hoje... Chegou a minha Asus 7900 XT OC TUF e eu não consegui testar ainda pois tive compromisso, mas amanhã é um DDU pra remover o driver da NVidia e usar as dicas dos vídeos
Obrigado 💪
Just used this, thank you so much Fabio!
love this guy!
I completely forgot about the chipset drivers. Now my Old Undervolt/Overclock works again since i have installed the new chipset drivers. 6900 XT @1075 mv , 2675 Mhz
You're welcome
Thanks for this. Gonna use this for my new Zen 4 build. 👍🏿
You do that!
Your the man! I’m about to swap to a new gpu so this was definitely helpful lol
Great to know 💪
I have an laptop with amd ryzen 7 and rtx 3060. Do I also need to install chipset drivers, as i can't seem to find a way to know which socket and chipset I'm using.
Thank you. Very useful.👍
Thank you as well
A bit late to the party but still very helpful video - Thanks!
Do you usually use DDU in safe mode though or is it optional?
Safe mode is better but not absolutely needed
Excellent video and advice especially for the option where it is deleting the amd and Nvidia folders and it is checked by default
Man you are a god.
Our life saver.
Never in my life have I been saved like this before
Hi Fabio. I already have some old chipset drivers installed for my b450 mobo. Do I need to uninstall previous chipset drivers before installing new chipset drivers?
Yeah, do that if you can :D
@@AncientGameplays forgot to ask you how to do that. :| I know I can use the add or remove option from windows default software, wondering if there was a DDU way to do that.
Great vid as always , keep up the amazing work mate 👍👍
Since ive been using ddu i have had zero issues with amd drivers
Loving the intros as always lol
Thanks for the information
Does the “prevent downloads of drivers from windows update” option in DDU (3:46) prevent the need to use RegEdit or set a group policy in order to stop windows from automatically updating the drivers? I’ve seen many people resort to these methods to prevent windows auto update from wrecking their drivers, but I’ve never seen anyone mention just using this option in DDU. Thanks!
Well, my windows does not do that, so, I guess so
Never though that this video will help me today 😛.... Big THX 👍
💪💪
Google must be reading my mind showing this to me at a time when I'm about to upgrade GPUs. Thanks for the extra tip to update chipset drivers.
4:48 Ok I know youre talking directly to me so I guess Ill go update those chipset drivers. I dont think Ive actually ever even done that lol.
Black Ops 6 is now crashing from AMD driver timeout before I can even join a match 💀😂
that makes no sense at all. Make sure windows is not the issue and that your system is stable. I have ZERO crashes in BOE6...
Icon layout is normal, that's a windows thing, not a drivers one
The man, the myth, the legend, HE IS Ancient Gameplays! :D
great video as always
Thank you!
i used the ddu method for a long time, but in the last full year with amd i've done a different kind of clean, I install the chipset and gpu driver with the normal installer, with no overwrite or clean option, BUT after the installation process i make a reboot, and i go directly in RAPR and manually delete all old driver, and one in while i just select all driver and clean it (obviosly not force cleaning) with this all driver that are not used in the system are wiped out.
That's a lot of work though
General algorithm comment, this works, can vouch. Thanks for the help.
thank you as well
A little Hi from France for you beautifull hair ! Great video as usual with great advice ! Clear, simple, you made the job ! Hope you the best !
Thank you
I'm going to give this a go. My 240Hz display won't do anything faster than 75Hz- in game. I just went from a 2060 to a 7900 XT. 75Hz is the frame cap of my old display.
Do I need to uninstall the chipset driver before installing a newer version? Or is it enough to simply click on update?
Thanks as always 😊
Advisable, but not needed. You can simply update
Thank you so much just got a new 4070ti and was getting a score of 9k till I seen this video now I'm up in the 19k range 😮in 3dmark
You're where you should be from the start
I thought so I was scoring higher then that with my 2080ti before I switched thanks again man
That intro caught me off guard and snorted some coffee out my nose.
🤣🤣🤣🤣💪
Thanks for the instructions!! Just wondering though, is it a must to do the uninstall/installing of drivers using DDU on safe mode? Or is it fine as it is?
You can use ddu without it
*Boot into Safe Mode from Windows 11 or Windows 10*
Press the Windows + I on the keyboard to open Settings.
If that does not work, click Start and then select Settings.
Click Update & Security and on the left pane select Recovery.
Under Advanced Startup, click Restart Now.
After the computer restarts, on the Choose an Option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart.
After the computer restarts, a list of options appears. Select 4 or F4 to start the computer in Safe Mode. If you must use the Internet, select 5 or F5 for Safe Mode with Networking.
*Boot into Safe Mode from the sign-in screen in Windows 11 or Windows 10*
Restart the computer.
At the sign-in screen, hold the Shift key down and then click Power > Restart.
After the computer restarts to the Choose an Option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart.
After the computer restarts, a list of options should appear. Select 4 or F4 to start the computer in Safe Mode. If you must use the Internet, select 5 or F5 for Safe Mode with Networking.
you're a lifesaver, I use your channel exclusively for anything AMD
Oh, thanks for the reminder, i always update GPU drivers and always forget about chipset drivers 😅
I see haha
You forgot to mention to reboot into Safe Mode before using the app. It recommends it itself^^
Yes, but absolutely not needed
@@AncientGameplays I'll remember it :P
I just used DDU it went well, but now I dont have Bluetooth, and the start up screen is black with "safe mode" on the corners. I think Microsoft got mad at me.
so we no longer need to get into safe mode when using DDU? that's neat
I usually never use safe mode
Thanks for the cooler advice, I was looking a cheap and good cooler for my Ryzen 5 7600X : 3
Great to hear I helped!
Fabio I have a question. I am currently using laptop, should I install chipset driver from AMD or MSI? Because I have heard that chipset driver from mobo is more optimized for specific mobo. Is that true? I am currently using chipset driver from MSI and have tried from AMD but have no issues.
Amd man, amd
@@AncientGameplays Alright thanks.
If you want to, but it is usually not needed
@@AncientGameplays thank you so much for the video and the tip
