If I understand you correctly the potential buyers who were trying to scam you by pouring oil on your engine in the hopes that you would sell them this car for less money? And now you do not want to sell the car because of this experience?
Yes, I was very discouraged by that event and the fact that several other interested parties flaked on me when making arrangements to meet tilted the scales as well. Plus, after my mechanic did the scheduled oil service and flushed the coolant twice, I got a very nicely driving Civic that I'd only part with for a very interested buyer who does not need or want to negotiate it down.
I don't recommend giving your car to a stranger to test drive and sabotage it without your presence. Also, this is not a zero emission car. That is a foolish thing to believe and say.
I did not give it away... that would be stupid. An EV is not strictly zero emissions either when looking at how the fuel us generated. California registered it as Zero Emissions in 2012.
You took it to a mechanic because of a disconnected ignition coil? Its was unplugged because twisting them like you think they did isnt possible without removing the retaining bolt. Jeez.
I already had a service scheduled that included oil change and coolant flush. It was throwing codes and the CEL was on. Helps to watch the video first before commenting.
We have two other (larger) vehicles and both of us work from home.... that's originally why I was planning to sell the Civic. And I'd rather have a pair of e-bikes or scooters that enable me/us to get to our town quickly and without any parking hassle. The trade does not like any alternative fuel vehicles as they're hard to resell - Carvana would only give me a couple thousand US$ for it which blows my mind. Plus, our leadership is neglecting the infrastructure for both CNG and Hydrogen vehicles... shameful.
@samkitty5894 Not all civics are great. My kids had terrible luck with both a 2002 and 2004 model. Also Corollas are more reliable and much easier to work on.
I'm not gonna say you a idiot but when I sold my Honda (too many cars, overhead high) it sold in literally one day of posting and over 40 people bothering me.@@RuudNoordzij
Engine compartment is so damn clean!
Rule 1 when selling car, check your family to see if anybody wants it first.
Did that.... everyone in our sphere was well sorted. Appreciate the heads up though.
@@RuudNoordzij Excellent, hope you sell it to a good person.
Rule number 2 never sell a car to a friend or family because when something happens to the car they may blame you for ripping them off
Just when you thought you've heard it all. Unbelievable.

I blame the rise of the "Red Hat's!"🤔
@@bigjohnson7415 Red hats are trying to save what was once great. It's the other side that closed the asylums that is degrading everything.
Ultimate Honda that was made naturally aspirated easy to fix !
These are great cars.
Will run forever.
well, not forever but a long time with consistent proper maintenance
Just sell it to CarMax or trade it in. Do not deal with the general public when selling cars privately.
Checked with Carvana and their bid would be very low due to the difficult market for alternative fuel vehicles in California.
CarMax, WeBuyAnyCar and the like typically lowball, but it is a minefield trying to weave a path between the industry buyers and outright scammers.
