Love AM Hoops but he's bias in his videos and excludes certain things, think he wants Embiid to win...
Sixers: 9-6 without Embiid +0.2 net
      Nuggets: 3-5 without Jokic -4.8
      Triple Double average ✅
Number Seed without any all defense or all star ✅
Nuggets 28th worst defense this season with Jokic off 8th with him on ✅
      Most efficient season ever ✅
Highest recorded impact to winning ever via net rating ( MJ and Bron were 1 and 2 before) ✅
#1 in literally every single impact metric there is besides defense where he's 15th in defensive rating this season
By definition of value, he's the MVP again... if you know the numbers he's having one of the best and the most efficient season ever. Jokic plays Embiid and Hardens role as one...

I believe they are just in a slump. They got in a comfort zone being 6 games up from the 2nd seed. And while they were cruising around, other teams flicked the switch to finish the season strong, and they are caught of guard. Also they are still figuring out rotations with new players and the ones returning from injuries. And about Jokoc wanting the MVP, he said it him self in an interview with Serbian sports network: "Let Larry Bird remain the only player in modern era to win 3 straight MVPs, let him have that title." He said that in the spirit of being bothered by all the talks and the fuzz around his 3rd MVP, and all the attention to detail and criticism he would get if he wins 3 straight....

    • @ZanosuMangustas
      @ZanosuMangustas ปีที่แล้ว +10

DBPM is a flawed stat, because it accounts for whos playing with Jokic at the time. Meaning, his teammates really cover for him on defense big time. You cant convince a basketball fan, that Jokic is a good defender when he is so unathletic, has bad lateral quickness, and cant jump to protect the rim. Nuggets coaching and whole team effort, rotations made their defense above average, but in the playoffs they will get exposed against elite shooting teams.

and if it's a flawed stat, then why is it everyone else in the entire history of the NBA who has won it as a starter has made multiple all-defensive teams and/or won DPOY? except Jokic.
also there have been plenty of great defenders who don't protect the rim or have great lateral quickness. Charles Oakley, Larry Bird, Bill Laimbeer, Robert Horry just to name a few. Not everyone is Hakeem, nor do you have to be Hakeem to be a great defender.

    • @yrnquin1560

@@uberneanderthal it is a flawed stat because some of the worst defenders in the league are at the top of that stat. The nuggets are the 25th ranked rim protecting team because of jokic, he's not a good defender. Literally watch a game and get off basketball reference and see it for yourself with your own eyes. The calculator merchant is a below average defender and having a below average defending center means easy looks at the basket all night in the playoffs against elite offenses which is a recipe for no championship.

rim protection is not the be all end all, disrupting passing lanes is arguably more important, especially in the modern game, and Jokic does it better than any center in the league, maybe ever. He's been 1st or 2nd in both steals and deflections among centers for 4 years running.

@@uberneanderthal If you disrupt a pass on one play but give up 3 easy buckets right after that, that doesn't make you a good paint defender. Rim protection is far more valuable than disrupting passing lanes don't kid yourself. Most teams look to manufacture easy looks at the rim to get their offense flowing and to put pressure on the defense. In the playoffs, teams will attack jokic and MPJ all night long and no one will be able to stop it because the guy they rely on for rim protection is a bad rim protector. I have watched every Nuggets game this year and Jokic really played poorly in 4 games this year: offensively against the Jazz and Bulls and then defensively he was bad against the Spurs and Raptors. That being said, you overdramatize how bad his defense is. In the clutch he leads the league in blocks, steals and deflections. The Nuggets are undoubtedly one of the best teams in the NBA when Jokic is on the floor, as evidenced by their +/- with him on and off the court. They generate offense quite easily and fluidly and they also tend to build up leads with Jokic on the floor so he doesn't try to get into foul trouble by being overly aggressive, especially when they're winning. The Nuggets poor stretch corresponded with Murray, Jackson, Green and Bryant being ineffective and downright horrendous. That perimeter defense was just as bad and their shooting was downright cold. I get criticism of Jokic on the defensive end but to stipulate Embiid is elite defensively is inaccurate. He could play elite defense, except he doesn't usually. Blocks don't equal better defense and Embiid takes a lot of plays off, especially when he's tasked with putting up 35ppg. Jokic allows opponents to shoot 65% around the rim, while Embiid allows opposing players to shoot 63%.

Also of 25 players that have defended atleast 500 paint shots this season jokic ranks 24th in FG% allowed and 24th in points allowed. Of the 12 players this season who have defended 500 layups he ranks dead last allowing a staggering 66.6% shooting. He is literally having a historically bad defensive season.

@@twcgoat4761 yeah I saw it now. Again, I watch these games and he doesn't contest shots to stay out of foul trouble. He hasn't fouled out a single time this year so far. The Nuggets are so much better than other other teams with Jokic on the floor that it's better if he doesn't foul so that they could maintain their offensive efficiency. In the last few minutes of close games, defined as "clutch" time, he leads all centers in steals, blocks and deflections. When it's time to hone in, he does so. I don't think anyone is arguing he's an elite defender but his elite offense drives the Nuggets defensive efficiency which is still good. I'm more concerned about their perimeter defense and Malone's substitutions. Also, simply based on what I watch of Embiid and his defensive output, he's similar to Jokic. He takes plays off defensively and struggles with agility and lateral movement. He can play better defense and protect the rim better than Jokic, except he doesn't.

I still dont get this take. To adress him getting bounced in the playoffs he is having one of the best individual seasons as a top 2 seed. And if the nuggets dont play well with jokic being attacked in the pick and roll that is a coaching issue, the coach need to see that and have someone sag to help jokic in the PnR. And finally, the ben simmons comparison is just laughable, even before his collapse Simmons was no where close to the level the Jokic is playing at. And also perks take is also dumb because magic Johnson also was not a high scorer in some of his mvp season, it has nothing to do with race, its because there is more to basketball than scoring. It doesnt just work with saying a player plays great defense too so they are more valuable, jokic is a better rebounder and passer than almost every single other player in the league and when talking about being able to pass AND rebound no one is even close to his level. He does that while scoring 25 ppg.

I agree there are times that Jokic takes plays off defendively but outside of elite defenders who are annual DPOY candidates lots of NBA players take plays off on the defensive end. This is why during the regular season we see end of games at 143-139. The last ten games of the season are here and this is where we will see which teams that have the potential to win a championship step up on both ends of the floor and we will get some really competitive games like we saw last night between Warriors/Mavs and Suns/Lakers. I do think that Jokic could win the REGULAR season MVP since this to me seems like it has become a OPOY award but the real reason Jokic will not win it is because he simply does not care about it enough to have the people surrounding him actively campaign for him like Embid and Giannis. Jokic is about to average a triple double...a center is about to average 10 assists a game, this is Jokic in a nutshell he wants to share the accolades, he wants to win a championship much more than he wants to win another MVP 🏆.

    • @rightwingindonesian

Jokic makes Chris Bosh look like Dikembe Mutombo. The 2016 Warriors lost to the Cavs because Bogut got injured. Even the 1996 Bulls with Jordan, Pippen and Rodman, wouldn't have won without Luc Longley.

Denver have been elite all season long on both sides of the floor,13th on defense(above league average and only 0.3 out of the top 10) and 1st on offense, denver clinched the playoffs after a 4 game losing streak which means they knew they would make the playoffs, they took their foot off the gas, with the ability of jokic making the right play every time and the defensive versatility around him(ag and brown can guard the majority of the positions) I believe denver is the team to beat in the nba right now, jokic does not care about winning the mvp,he wants a championship, and I have denver as the upercoming nba champions.

If we trade MPJ should be for OG, not Caruso. MPJ has much more value bro. Also if Nuggets dont make the finals they should fire Malone and explore to trade Jamal plus like 2 firsts and pick swaps for SGA. Now, SGA, KCP, OG, AG, Jokic legit can dominate the NBA for the next 5 years easily.

Thunder aren’t trading SGA and OKC would demand more than Jamal and 2 1sts if they was to trade him

@@chrisroberts8625 SGA is a very good player but he is not a #1 option for a championship team and especially not with bunch of young OKC players. Timeline my friend. If SGA wants to be what KAT was for Wolves all these years than sure. OKC with Jamal and multiple picks added plus Chad plus Giddy can have a stable rise until they see/find who that #1 can be. SGA is great but not good enoug to be #1

i feel like giannis should still be a favorite for the mvp, hes putting up insane stats on less than 40 mpg and hes improving his shooting and recently his finishing got even better, hes also improving his handles and playmaking and soon he might average a triple double on insane efficiency if he keeps improving like this
