He knew exactly how that play was going to unfold before it happened. It's honestly unbelievable how good of a passer he is.

@@joweydelanota7421 Sabonis huh? Idk if you've ever seen any footage of prime Sabonis when he played in Euro league but he played a very different style than he did as an older, injury riddled veteran in Portland..He played predominately in the low post and did most of his scoring either at or around the rim..he could always knock down an open 20fter and ran the floor well..but he was doing it during an era when European basketball wasn't nearly as good as it is today..The competition was far inferior in Europe back then...he changed his game once he got into the NBA and became a more crafty plyr relying on his high basketball IQ and experience..yes he was a very good passer but he wasn't remotely close being the type of distributor that Jokic is now..He wasn't even a poor man's version of Jokic he was more like a homeless mans version ..Jokic is virtually a point-center that grabs 11-13rbs and makes his teamates much better while scoring 25+ppg on 60+%FGs ...His passing and unselfishness is contagious amongst his teamates, and he makes his teamates better..,.Theres never been anything like him at the

      @joweydelanota7421 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@LouiePalomaBM That's hands down the most casual response i have read today. Not only you have a miscontrued perception of European basketball you failed miserably to understand why Jokic can exploit the game today in ways wasn't posible during Sabonis's era.
European players from Sabonis era would have trived greatly in this era because it emphasizes skill, zones and transition rather than one-on-one physicality of hand checking on half-court ISO plays. The rules were different when Sabonis played hence the slow pace of his era. Jokic plays in the fastest paced era of basketball which reflect on the league inflated stats.
You need to learn basketball so you can learn in-game functionality over looking at the statsheet.
Take a seat and stop acting like you saw Sabonis played in his prime you didnt. You have an opinion as your opinion is debunked.

Excellent video. Only quip: he is actually a _very_ good defender. The two best Defensive metrics i know: NBA DPRM has him in the top15, 538-RAPTOR has Jokic in top four defensive players, I just watched him play the (good) Grizzlies team last night. NOONE wants to try to consistently battle him for offensive boards: he takes up a huge amount of space for either a teammate or himself to grab the miss. He has near zero verticality: but it matters little. Does an opposing player with likely better vertical leap want to try to wrestle for the ball when being pushed backwards by that big body? The evidence I witnessed was a resounding no. The opposing team's interior play also just gets stuck in the mud: trying to drive to the basket usually gets stopped 12 feet out by help from Jokic - who has a low foul profile but high deterrence ability. Note that he does also venture all the way out to the 3-line to contest shots when useful. He also has great understanding of positioning to cut off passing lanes and even divert or get his hands on the ball.

This video single handedly convinced me there’s been a shift in the axes of power within the nBa and that he’s definitely the best player followed by the Greek freak and then Embid then KD and tatum . Basically it’s the era of the big man once again in the NBA. The skilled big man. We had the era of the 2 guard with MJ & Kobe; followed by the era of the “wing” with Lebron and KD and Kawai; then the era of the guard and the three with Steph curry. Now it’s the era of the unicorn 🦄, the freak, the 7 foot position-less super player, that basically if you don’t have one your finished. I watched the bucks defeat the suns in a finals where it wasn’t really competitive and almost boring watching 34 dunk and drive and layup, there was nothing they could of done, really nothing no one could do.

As long as he wants, because his efficiency is not kinetic but positional, like a boxer who uses shadowing to cut off the ring, deliberate and controlled! Zion is 6,8 and approx same weight, but he has to jump and absorb all that stress, landing on both feet and all it takes is a little off balance landing to snap a ligament, Achilles or Meniscus! Joker gets there by shifting his feet and using his big body to make separation from defense and do his thing!

Nikola Jokic is a center playing as a point guard. While critics may say he has an unfair advantage. Most basketball fans would say that he successfully redefined the position of center within the NBA in the last few years. The thing about Jokic is he'll continue improving as a player for the rest of his career. If the Denver Nuggets management can build a successful dynasty around Jokic I'd say that Denver Nuggets are gonna dominate the league for at least a decade.

The phrase "... at the free throw line or on the elbow" drives me crazy, though, because the elbow is obviously a part of the the free throw line. I know that people routinely refer to the elbow as basically a step or two pushed off the elbow on the inbound pass, and it's much more specific, but definitionally, it's the free throw line area. It's the pedant in me; I might have said: "the top of the key and the free throw line -- particularly the elbow, where ..." I had to think through it, like, are you saying he takes many free throws without saying he takes many free throws (he takes relatively few and it's one of the worst aspects of his game, so probably not). That being said, you're the experts; you do you. I love this video.

What's fun, what's *so* fun hearing the analysis on him, is that it's really similar to what I hear about elite quarterbacks (throwing a guy open, seeing the play before it happens, reading stuff and so on) and elite soccer players (that it's about *space*, and finding the opening to, well...hit a guy streaking toward the goal, sometimes, come to think of it).
Like, I *love* that at a very, *very* basic level, everything's about space. About getting the ball where it needs to be *when* it needs to be there.
    Love it.
Edit: Oh, and a point that I've heard on commentary for various sports that is true of Joker:
These are the best athletes in the world. When someone is making them look stupid, that's *the best players in the world* being made to look stupid.

Jokic doesnt need another ball hog. He already has Murray for that. He needs players that play D like mad or are exceptional 3pt shooters and cutters. So a guy like Lillard, Curry etc.

Definitely a Swiss Army knife of offense you try to take away one of his tools he just opens another and slices you!

Jokic will go down as the greatest offensive player of all time by his career/peak ends. He’s already playing in a class only guys like Magic, Nash, Mike, Lebron, and Curry have played at. Maybe a few other names. The fact that his volume has only slightly dropped while his efficiency has reached an absolutely ridiculous level is crazy about this year as well. Cant wait for Murray to be back to his old self. Hopefully MPJ holds up.

With Porter in the lineup, the Nuggets' score was 9-7. In MPJ's absence, with Bruce Brown taking on more responsibilities, Denver won 10 of 14 games. But when money talks, they'll tell Brown to cede his starting role to Porter. In the last game against the Detroit Pistons, he shot 20 percent from 3 and 46.7 percent from 2 and scored 18 points - imagine how much offense he ruined. JM against the team CHARLOTTE HORNETS in 35 minutes on the field for 2 points 18.2 percent for 3 shots 0 percent and scored 6 points. With MPJ, JM in the Nuggets starting lineup, the Nuggets have the worst defense in the NBA. Without MPJ, JM's defense in the last 2 games is among the best defenses in the NBA, and the nuggets beat the team at the top of the table.
