One of my biggest complaints about covers of this song are when people go too hard or too soft and lose the atmospheric vibe that David Wise first created.
But you nailed it! The progressive dynamic is so powerful! It sounds so good, without foresaking the somberness of the original! It feels like nearing the conclusion of an epic adventure!
Hard agree. I listened to other covers after listening to this one and they genuinely made me cringe. This particular cover has been on loop for like two days now. 😂
This theme has something special; I remember listening to it a lot many years ago, and letting my thoughts wander... Right in the feels!
I remember you mentioning for a while you wanted to get to this song, and holy moly you blew it out of the park as usual! The buildup of the softness for the first minute, going into the centered lead guitar, finally culminating around 1:09 is so satisfying.

It’s amazing how you can metallic calming songs like that. So glad my favorite song is getting played by T.E
I wondered, “How the heck is he gonna make this one metal?!” And I guess I just learned to never question how good a job you can freaking do. It’s a perfect balance of the gentle nature of the original track and the intensity of metal. Also even if the original track is relaxing, these stages (and that segment in Animal Antics) always give me anxiety even after seemingly endless playthroughs, so it fits!
It feels so insightful. Like there's some grand question of life that I have no choice but to ponder as I listen.
