You are so beautiful and talented. Thank you for sharing both the ups and downs of putting this journal together. I love that you show us your mistakes and how to fix them. The journal is lovely and you can tell a lot of work went into making the papers. Thank you Barbara. 😘
I love the simplicity of this journal, but so rich in the same time, with all the different papers. I wonder how would look only with handwriting in it, Is amazing! ♥♥♥
I love this journal! The calmness and naturalness of it is so pleasing. I, too, like “empty” journals and can’t wait to see how you fill this one. I know why you’re so excited about your closure-it’s your own idea and worked perfectly! Your eco-dyeing turned out so well, too. I hope you are very please with this journal because you certainly should be!
This journal is so beautiful! I'm so happy you redid the signatures to have the cover right. This journal will allow you to be free to do any embellishments you want in the future or just to write as you see fit. Wonderful!
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I appreciate the walk-through steps. I'm not at a point where I could attempt this process, but I fully appreciate it. You make me chuckle when you encounter creative mishaps. The way you embrace them and venture forward allows me to see the fluidness in the creative process. Loved the way this project turned out.
Barbara, what a cool journal. I agree, love that closure! I’ve seen in signatures wrong and yes have taken them out and did them over. I’m glad you did yours over again. And yes walking away sometimes helps. Thanks for all your tips! ❤️
Love every page and the canvas cover. Oh my gosh your eco died and coffee papers are gorgeous. Yes Barbara, I got a little excited about the tie, also, lol. Yes it was worth it to turn the cover around ... I could imagine roses in the onion images. Beautifully done! 😍 Jeannie 😊😀
Another beautiful journal come to life from just a plain canvas. You never cease to amaze me. I love that you mixed your coffee, dying and eco dying techniques into this one journal, they seem intentional. I'm wondering if it wouldn't have been easier to sew the ribbon to the strip before gluing it to the spine. 🤔 But maybe wouldn't have been as stable. 😘 Beautiful job though. 👏 🥰
Barbara, I must say it turned out so beautiful, love the closer idea. I guess once it starts to get full a knot would hold it close. I really enjoy your videos and your contagious laughs they really make me smile, you are one funny lady.
Such a gorgeous journal cover, Barbara. Love the use of everyday ‘things’ (leaves, flowers and onion skins) to provide the colour and design - AMAZING!!! Look forward to your next fantastic challenge which you take part in. Thank you, again. 🙂
Barbara this turned out fantastic., I love that closure, so simple but functional. Glad you flipped the signatures around. I love everything about this video. ❤️❤️
Morning Barbara, another fabulouso journal, it is so beautiful. The eco dying is really amazing, something I plan on tryout soon-soon. The closure is sooooo elegant, doesn't take away from the beautiful cover at all, Thank you for sharing with us and for inspiring us to try something completely out of our "boxes". Blessings and hugs as always from Cape Town. Diana
You did a lovely job on creating using canvas. You have taught so much to us in just this one video. I appreciate the extra mile taken and then show the benefits of doing so. You are an amazing artist and I so enjoy all that you do. Thank you for sharing with us. *Debbie*
Oh that's odd, definitely not classic canvas. Oh wow, strong colours 😍. 👏👏👏👏. It's great hearing you so happy 🤗. Oh they're brilliant bags! Impossible to throw away 🙊. I like the spreader tip! oh I like using hems for ties too! The torn pieces are really handy and the shapes inspiring. I love how the project changes your mind🙊. oh no you 'Debbi'd ' the signatures🙈. Deep breathing, maybe meditate and try again 😄. Oh you could have glued the tie under the spine cover 🙈🙊. It works beautifully👏👏👏. Yay, 🙌happy Barbara😁. I think your typewriter would be easier👍. I love those clamps. It's a great collection of your own papers 😍. Great challenge! Tfs and have a great day 💖💖💖
I LOVE this journal and the closer and covers are lovely. Way to go! It is gorgeous. Regarding the rinsing, you want to rinse the alum off, or the colors will overdye and won't be waterproof. Also, the color you see on a stick, leaf, or flower can be different after the chemical reaction with the other ingredients😁. And, a dry stick or leaf can have a different reaction than a fresh one. SO MUCH FUN!!! I wish I was there with you playing!
The plastic side is gesso. Artists canvas is made of heavy duty cotton and on one side is gesso. This is the side an artist will paint on. You have used the back of an artists canvas. If you want to do this again in the future you could buy a cheap canvas from your dollar store, or art shop, and take the canvas off the wooden frame. :)
The plasticky side is actually gesso or paint. Most canvases for painting are already primed with one or the other. I love how the coloring turned out. I will be making a journal from a canvas that I did a paint pour on. Crossing my fingers it turns out. Baking soda (soda bicarbonate) also helps color from plants dye more vibrantly. Come summer I will have to try out some papers with flowers and leaves like you did. I love it. And, I love how your journal turned out ☺♥
I love all the eco prints you created especially the onion skins. I'm so glad you went with the image for your journal cover. it's absolutely stunning. I want to personally thank you for bringing so much joy to my week with your videos they are so inspirational and I love the way you solve the problem with things don't always turn out the way you want. You are one of my favourite creative TH-cam mentors because you inspire me to become better and more expressive in my own creative journey.
This is absolutely an amazing journal! The canvas cover is just perfect for a botanical or garden journal. I have not made any eco prints but using this method, but I love the results. I can see a trip to the fabric shop for some canvas in various weights, and to the bulk food store for alum . Thanks for sharing this. So beautiful!
A very beautiful journal sweetie, I love the unembellished pages too. Gives so much room for creating beautiful things later, or for lots of writing 😉 sending you a big hug 😘
I really like that you show your mistakes and how you remedy them. I am sure we all must have sewn our signatures in the wrong way but it is comforting to know you do it too! 😂 This journal is beautiful. As far as eco dyeing goes I also watch a lady called Kelly from Book and Paper Arts and she has a playlist in her videos about eco printing on and has fabulous results, if you don’t already know her she is worth checking out.
Barbara: Very impressive. Your approach to creating the cover was very interesting. Every page is so unique. The closure is super. Another five star journal! Carol from California
I love that you show the whole process of making the journal. Something I struggle with and don’t know why I make it harder than it is. Your way just seems so easy. I’ll make my next journal cover following these steps.
Great video. So glad I am not the only person who sees things in the wrong way! Love the closure definitely going to give that a go. Thanks for showing us. Xx

Beautiful. I watcher Louisa's whose was fabulous too, but not at all like yours. I love you both and think you both are wonderful and original artists in your own right. xoxoxo
I love it and how you share the sometimes frustrating moments of putting together a beautiful journal! I just tried the bubble coffee-dyed paper and I love it! Used it in a journal that is more for writing. Thank you for so much inspiration and entertainment!!
I am watching this tutorial on my TV. I had a laugh about mistakes when being creative. Years ago my hubby was a scenic artist for theatre musical " My Fair Lady". Hours before opening night the director calls to Greig and points to the sign for the pub, Liza's father sings his big song- the director asks Greig to look-. And then he realized he had written the on the sign Pubic House instead of Public House.
Honey, this is absolutely gorgeous, really! I love what you chose for the cover and your closure? **chef's kiss** I have a roll of canvas but not much here in the way of leaves. Sadly, cactus thorns don't offer much for eco dying, but I'll find something somewhere! Love you angel, MomK ♥️🤗🏜🤗♥️
@@49dragonflies LOL. We had one florist in town but she bailed, but our grocery store sells flowers. I was thinking about houseplant but they're nothing special in that regard. ...different colored onion skins? ...avocado skins? Something's out there and I'll find it. I really do love what you did.

What a beautiful result! Thank you for showing us all the steps.

Super cool..love the different kinds of coffee dye papers and the eco dyed pages, too........😻
It turned out amazing! I really loved watching your process. You are fearless (or you just go for it anyway as if you are!) and I love that about you!
Beautiful! So happy you chose the brighter section of the canvas as the front of your cover - although the whole piece is beautiful.
Barbara!! This is STUNNING!!!!
Wow this came out Stunning ! And Yes I too Love the Closure lol . Thank You
I LOVE those mailing envelopes for my journals! I ONLY use them now. So easy to sew on them. I make a lot of patchwork covers.
I'm also at the point where I don't like to see the stitching on the outside of my journals, so I glue fabric, too, over it.
This is just fabulous. I enjoyed watching your process.thanks for sharing🌴😍💕
Absolutely beautiful results I thought. I'd love every piece!
Glue the torn one onto parchment paper. That will stabilize it. They are beautiful.
Wonderfully done. I think the yellow looks like roses of which yellow are my favorite.
This turned out fabulous! Thank you ❤️🤗😘🥰
Beautiful! I actually love the colors of it all!
Of course it worked, Barbara! Beautiful journal...and closure 😍🌷
