Nah...Starscream is too unstable. Megatron is just as power hungry but he's collected and knows how to better use the power he takes. Starscream let's power go to his head too quickly. I think its partly because he is sooo insecure. He just gets in over his processor.

In my fan stories starscream *was* the leader of the decepticons but the other decepticons bulit Megatron to overthrow him (similar how Cobra made serpentor to overthrow Cobra commander) So starscream now want to steal his leadership title back from Megatron. Also great video 👍

I actually thought in the G1 cartoon Starscream actually was a good tactician. Attacking the Moonbase would've been a better plan IMO for example. He nearly defeated Megatron with Bruticus.

I'll never get over the one comic where Starscream had the matrix of leadership for like three years while Megatron was being repaired and while the matrix responded to him well no one listened to him, going so far as to eat each other as they ignored his commands to gather supplies.

I think Cybertron and Cyberverse Starscream were the most successful ones. The first one defeated Galvatron and fought Primus/GOD for crying out loud! and the second one nearly extracted everyone's sparks in a way that reminded me of Beast Machines Megatron and I think Starscream should take a route more similar to IDW with being a post-war leader
I liked how IDW took characters past the war and were saw them grow and change. Starscream was particularly interesting since four much of the time it was still hard to tell where exactly he stood as far as good guy/bad guy went, even going a little crazy for a while.

I'm abit like Scream myself; having a boss that (certainly feels like) got his position out of love for power and stepping on the subordinates he dislikes. ;)) While never wanting to take over the leadership, the disgust for the boss sure is there, in the dark. As for this vid's topic, me thinks Screamy might NOT be able to handle it, as he was so hellbent on becoming a leader that he'd stop at nothing to achieve it. -That desire would surely come out of control if such a person gained even more power, like the one in this case.
This clears things up a bit. Back when I first started watching you, I remember hearing "Underbase Powered Starscream" as "under base-powered Starscream", "base power" being Starscream's default power level, and I thought "How could someone who's WEAKER than their normal form kill off so many Transformers? Bear in mind, I know next to nothing about the comics. But if the Underbase is a collection of knowledge, Starscream should've traded all that KNOWLEDGE for a new Lamborghini.
Starscream is smart remember he used to be a scientist and explorer. Once the great war started he got a taste for physical power and got mentally careless. If he could combine his smarts with the physical power he would be a good leader.
Also, I didn't knew Starscream had a Upgrade or Evolve form! Sure I watched Armada back in the day, but I unfortunately only got to watch 1 episode of Cybertron. We had to cut down on our Cable Bill. Nonetheless, this is making my Crossover even easier to connect. If Meowth turns into Persian than why can't Starscream Evolve as well. Even though I want both of then deceased within the first act. Once, I found a translation of a manga known as “Mazinger Z vs The Transformers”. As the title implies, it’s about the Transformers getting transported into the world of the first piloted mecha, Mazinger Z. Around the end of Chapter 4 out of 6, Starscream upgraded himself with some of Mazinger’s discarded parts in order to gain its attacks and ability to utilize “photon particles” in order to make himself stronger. However, “Mazinscream” couldn’t handle his newfound power, and he went unstable rather quickly. Before he could wipe out everyone, Underbase saga style, all of the Transformers, along with Koji Kabuto and his allies, teamed up to take him out. This counts as a tribute to the Underbase for me, since in certain spin-off materials for Mazinger Z, such as Shin Mazinger ZERO and Mazin Saga, photon particles are capable of some CRAZY things, such as time travel, nuking cities, and even reality warping!
I mean, whether in control or not...you can't really deny that when Starscream has the power...he is a bit of a threat for most individuals. But that's when his ego then gets in the way of it. Just imagine what he'd be like if he actually could wield the power while in complete control, and not let his ego get the best of him. But, that's for another story...when someone develops a version of him where he's not blinded by such.
Thanks for the explanation. I read the Regeneration One series and got confused of when did Starscream get possessed by the Underbase, because he changed from a Zombie with almost no control of his mental abilities to an all powerful being (able to rebuild Shockwave's body and defeat Jhiaxus). I was like... "what? Didn't see that coming at all..."
Underbase powered Starscream. In the comic they repeatedly state that he is powered by the Underbase itself. Cosmic powers would be something like the Omega Lock and the direct energies from Primus like in Cybertron since Primus is a cosmic being living inside a planet.
MA BOI!!! Honestly, this guy is my favorite character in the franchise. He is just so much fun and I absolutely enjoy seeing him onscreen. As for the question, well, there has been proof that he can wield great power (the Underbase in Marvel G1, the Creation Matrix in Marvel G2, etc.), so I guess he could wield it, but the price would be his sanity being completely obliterated, so he is destined to fail in his quest for power.
It's always entertaining when a character gains a power up and goes crazy. You can't say Starscream isn't tenacious, or maybe he's just a glutton for punishment, who can really say?
A couple of Starscream-centric quotes from my favourite Marvel UK Transformers story, 'Crisis of Command' (a copy of which I'm hoping to get signed by Peter Cullen himself at Liverpool Comic Con on the 7th of March, by the way...assuming that they don't have to cancel the whole event over the Coronavirus of course...but I digress) seem particularly appropriate here: Soundwave: '...Megatron and Shockwave after him were leaders...you will never be anything more than BATTLE FODDER! You have no sense of strategy, no sublety. You are a Missile with a Mouth, Starscream!' Narrator: '...Starscream could NEVER be a Leader! He has not the Spark of Command, the Mark of Destiny! Optimus has all this...and MORE!' (Great vid, yes? Is there any chance of doing one on Death's Head in the near future, please...?).
I would LOVE to see a comic or cartoon where Starscream and Megatron realize they are in a deadlock and instead go into see a Marriage and Family Therapist. In the room the therpist starts dragging out all their combined issues such as: Megatron leaves S.S. feeling unheard S.S. leaves Megs with the impression that his leadership has been taken for granted They feel more like roommates than battle-commanders which has left them each feeling distant from the other. S.S feels jealous of Arcee and it turns out Megs has a crush on her They have both been staying together for the sake of the Stunticons So at this point the Therapist then has them do an assignment to rekindle their partnership: No other Decepticons on datenight. Only Megs and S.S. go out to Earth every Tuesday, drink Energon and vaporize humans hiking in the woods. It reminds them what they liked about the other in the 1st place. they also learn to communicate better: Megs compliments S.S. on treachery towards Autobots . S.S. compliments Megs on Energon-axing Cliffjumper straight down the middle. They both set boundaries. Instead of S.S. attempting a Coup de'tat he learns to use his words. And when Megatron is mad he no longer Energon-axes Cliffjumper but instead tells S.S. whats bothering him. Come On Simon Furman, make it happen!!!!! p.s. if Starscream can find the spirit of Christmas this idea is way more reasonable!
I"m not sure if you covered this yet/ I was wondering do you think in the G1 cartoon was Galvatron cured by the matrix? Galvatron seemed insane up too web world. Were he seemed not as crazy .... but by the time of the rebirth he seemed not crazy or out of control. One hint was when he wanted to blast the nebulons out of his own troops. He seemed to be reasonable..... were the old Galvatron would have taken them on. So what do you think? Did the matrix cure Galvatron?
He sounded reasonable after the return of optimus prime. But at the end of the rebirth (The end of g1 imo) he was shouting at zarak like mad old galvatron again.
I owned the issue with the Underbase powered starscresm. Great run of comics. 2 other stories I remember Megatron and Ratchet fused together. Then of course the coming of Unicron!

Power itself isn't really inherently corruptive outside of evil fantasy macguffin stuff. Corruption comes from the people wielding power incorrectly, not the power itself. I find stories more interesting when they really explore how people handle power in a way that make it clear it's their choices that determine how well they handle it instead of just having people go mad because Power and leaving it at that. In a lot of ways common sayings like that can be detrimental to exploring deeper nuances of a topic.

I'm abit like Scream myself; having a boss that (certainly feels like) got his position out of love for power and stepping on the subordinates he dislikes. ;)) While never wanting to take over the leadership, the disgust for the boss sure is there, in the dark. As for this vid's topic, me thinks Screamy might NOT be able to handle it, as he was so hellbent on becoming a leader that he'd stop at nothing to achieve it. -That desire would surely come out of control if such a person gained even more power, like the one in this case.

This clears things up a bit. Back when I first started watching you, I remember hearing "Underbase Powered Starscream" as "under base-powered Starscream", "base power" being Starscream's default power level, and I thought "How could someone who's WEAKER than their normal form kill off so many Transformers?
Bear in mind, I know next to nothing about the comics.
But if the Underbase is a collection of knowledge, Starscream should've traded all that KNOWLEDGE for a new Lamborghini.

Starscream is smart remember he used to be a scientist and explorer. Once the great war started he got a taste for physical power and got mentally careless. If he could combine his smarts with the physical power he would be a good leader.
But his ego will ultimately bring about his downfall.
Also, I didn't knew Starscream had a Upgrade or Evolve form! Sure I watched Armada back in the day, but I unfortunately only got to watch 1 episode of Cybertron. We had to cut down on our Cable Bill. Nonetheless, this is making my Crossover even easier to connect. If Meowth turns into Persian than why can't Starscream Evolve as well. Even though I want both of then deceased within the first act. Once, I found a translation of a manga known as “Mazinger Z vs The Transformers”. As the title implies, it’s about the Transformers getting transported into the world of the first piloted mecha, Mazinger Z. Around the end of Chapter 4 out of 6, Starscream upgraded himself with some of Mazinger’s discarded parts in order to gain its attacks and ability to utilize “photon particles” in order to make himself stronger. However, “Mazinscream” couldn’t handle his newfound power, and he went unstable rather quickly. Before he could wipe out everyone, Underbase saga style, all of the Transformers, along with Koji Kabuto and his allies, teamed up to take him out. This counts as a tribute to the Underbase for me, since in certain spin-off materials for Mazinger Z, such as Shin Mazinger ZERO and Mazin Saga, photon particles are capable of some CRAZY things, such as time travel, nuking cities, and even reality warping!
I mean, whether in control or not...you can't really deny that when Starscream has the power...he is a bit of a threat for most individuals. But that's when his ego then gets in the way of it. Just imagine what he'd be like if he actually could wield the power while in complete control, and not let his ego get the best of him. But, that's for another story...when someone develops a version of him where he's not blinded by such.

I read the Regeneration One series and got confused of when did Starscream get possessed by the Underbase, because he changed from a Zombie with almost no control of his mental abilities to an all powerful being (able to rebuild Shockwave's body and defeat Jhiaxus). I was like... "what? Didn't see that coming at all..."
Regen One began bouncing around towards the end and it was hard to follow some of the storylines.

Underbase powered Starscream. In the comic they repeatedly state that he is powered by the Underbase itself. Cosmic powers would be something like the Omega Lock and the direct energies from Primus like in Cybertron since Primus is a cosmic being living inside a planet.

MA BOI!!! Honestly, this guy is my favorite character in the franchise. He is just so much fun and I absolutely enjoy seeing him onscreen.
As for the question, well, there has been proof that he can wield great power (the Underbase in Marvel G1, the Creation Matrix in Marvel G2, etc.), so I guess he could wield it, but the price would be his sanity being completely obliterated, so he is destined to fail in his quest for power.

I would LOVE to see a comic or cartoon where Starscream and Megatron realize they are in a deadlock and instead go into see a Marriage and Family Therapist. In the room the therpist starts dragging out all their combined issues such as:
Megatron leaves S.S. feeling unheard
S.S. leaves Megs with the impression that his leadership has been taken for granted
They feel more like roommates than battle-commanders which has left them each feeling distant from the other.
S.S feels jealous of Arcee and it turns out Megs has a crush on her
They have both been staying together for the sake of the Stunticons
So at this point the Therapist then has them do an assignment to rekindle their partnership:
No other Decepticons on datenight. Only Megs and S.S. go out to Earth every Tuesday, drink Energon and vaporize humans hiking in the woods. It reminds them what they liked about the other in the 1st place.
they also learn to communicate better:
Megs compliments S.S. on treachery towards Autobots . S.S. compliments Megs on Energon-axing Cliffjumper straight down the middle.
They both set boundaries. Instead of S.S. attempting a Coup de'tat he learns to use his words.
And when Megatron is mad he no longer Energon-axes Cliffjumper but instead tells S.S. whats bothering him.

I"m not sure if you covered this yet/ I was wondering do you think in the G1 cartoon was Galvatron cured by the matrix? Galvatron seemed insane up too web world. Were he seemed not as crazy .... but by the time of the rebirth he seemed not crazy or out of control. One hint was when he wanted to blast the nebulons out of his own troops. He seemed to be reasonable..... were the old Galvatron would have taken them on. So what do you think? Did the matrix cure Galvatron?

Power itself isn't really inherently corruptive outside of evil fantasy macguffin stuff. Corruption comes from the people wielding power incorrectly, not the power itself. I find stories more interesting when they really explore how people handle power in a way that make it clear it's their choices that determine how well they handle it instead of just having people go mad because Power and leaving it at that. In a lot of ways common sayings like that can be detrimental to exploring deeper nuances of a topic.
Remember when Scream blew himself up taking a potshot at Unicron to prove a fucking point? That was awesome.
